The article examines the detection of manipulation of multimedia content, in particular in the form of videos and photos. The concept of deepfake is considered, the means and technologies involved in deepfake are analyzed, current and promising methods of detecting and preventing fake multimedia content are evaluated. Approaches to the methods of creating fakes on videos with elements of manipulation of the human face are defined. Faceswap and Deepfakes Web are found to be the most powerful solutions used to generate deepfakes. An analysis of tools for detecting deepfakes on the face was carried out, which made it possible to highlight the main technologies, libraries, and datasets used to search for fakes. The DeepFake Detection Challenge (DFDC) Model, Forensically, and others have been found to have significant potential and sample size to accurately detect human-faced fakes. This paper proposes a generalized approach to the detection of deep fakes on the human face using machine learning and computer vision technologies

This paper is focused on uncertain fractional order systems. In this context, a new modelling approach of uncertain fractional order systems represented by an explicit fractional order interval transfer function is proposed. This approach is based, essentially, on multimodel approach. In fact, firstly, two new determination methods of models' library, inspired from the Kharitonov approach, are exposed. Then, we propose to compute the validity degree of each model of the obtained library, by optimizing a constrained least squares problem. The global model is, finally deduced by fusion of outputs of the different library' models. To prove its efficiency and its precision, the proposed approach is then compared to the approximation approach of Oustaloup through two simulation examples. © 2023 IEEE.

MaxCUCL: Max−Consensus with Deterministic Convergence in Networks with Unreliable Communication Links

In this paper, we present a novel distributed algorithm (herein called MaxCUCL) designed to guarantee that max−consensus is reached in networks characterized by unreliable communication links (i.e., links suffering from packet drops). Our proposed algorithm is the first algorithm that achieves max−consensus in a deterministic manner (i.e., nodes always calculate the maximum of their states regardless of the nature of the probability distribution of the packet drops). Furthermore, it allows nodes to determine whether convergence has been achieved (enabling them to transition to subsequent tasks). The operation of MaxCUCL relies on the deployment of narrowband error-free feedback channels used for acknowledging whether a packet transmission between nodes was successful. We analyze the operation of our algorithm and show that it converges after a finite number of time steps. Finally, we demonstrate our algorithm’s effectiveness and practical applicability by applying it to a sensor network deployed for environmental monitoring. © 2024, CC BY.

Event-based cameras are inspired by the way the retina in the eye process information. Rather than capturing image frames at a constant rate, event cameras generate data asynchronously, based on changes in pixel value between frames. As a result, these cameras have a high spatiotemporal accuracy, low power constraints and reduced artefacts from motion blur. Hence, they represent favourable properties for digitizing highly dynamic manufacturing tasks such as machine vibrations and rapid human assembly actions. However, the costs of event-based cameras are prohibitively high for small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs). In this research, we present the development of a rig that combines low-cost visual sensors with low-cost algorithms to perform action recognition for highly dynamic manual manufacturing tasks. We applied our algorithms to achieve an action classification system via a novel threshold-based approach and in parallel use a neural network to perform classification of objects in the video feed. The results achieved demonstrated that our approach was able to successfully identify various rapid manual tasks being performed on identified objects. Platooning is a popular vehicular application for autonomous driving on which the Platoon Leader (PL) manages all maneuvers using context information from Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) messages. However, redundant context information from nearby vehicles in the platoon can increase computational costs for the PL. To solve this issue, vehicular micro-clouds can be formed to enable collective data processing and aggregation, thus reducing the PL’s perception workload. The proposed solution, called Platoon Local Dynamic Map (P-LDM), creates a single database of context information, distributing the data aggregation load among all members of the platoon. Simulation results evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed solution and compare it to typical Cooperative Perception mechanisms.

Renewablepower to ammonia (RePtA) is a prominent zero-carbon pathway for decarbonization. Due to the imbalance between renewables and production energy demand, the RePtA system relies on electricity exchange with the power grid. Participating in the electricity market as a virtual power plant (VPP) may help to reduce energy costs. However, the power profile of local photovoltaics and wind turbines is similar to those in the market, resulting in rising energy costs under the conventional strategy. Hence, we develop a multi-timescale trading strategy for the RePtA VPP in the electricity, hydrogen, and ammonia markets. By utilizing the hydrogen and ammonia buffer systems, the RePtA VPP can optimally coordinate production planning. Moreover, we find it possible to describe the trading of electricity, ammonia, and hydrogen in a unified timeframe. The two-stage robust optimization model of the electricity market is extended to multiple markets and solved by the column and constraint generation (CC&G) algorithm. The case is derived from an actual project in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Sensitivity analysis demonstrates the economic advantages of the RePtA VPP joining multiple markets over the conventional strategy and reveals the necessity of the hydrogen and ammonia buffer and reactor flexibility. © 2023 IEEE.

The quotient of two multivariate Gaussian densities can be written as an unnormalized Gaussian density, which has been applied in some recently developed multiple-model fixed-interval smoothing algorithms. However, this expression is invalid if instead of being positive definite, the covariance of the unnormalized Gaussian density is indefinite (i.e., it has both positive and negative eigenvalues) or undefined (i.e., computing it requires inverting a singular matrix). This paper considers approximating the quotient of two Gaussian densities in this case using two different approaches to mitigate the caused numerical problems. The first approach directly replaces the indefinite covariance of the unnormalized Gaussian density with a positive definite matrix nearest to it. The second approach computes the approximation through solving, using the natural gradient, an optimization problem with a Kullback-Leibler divergence-based cost function. This paper illustrates the application of the theoretical results by incorporating them into an existing smoothing method for jump Markov systems and utilizing the obtained smoothers to track a maneuvering target. © 2023 International Society of Information Fusion.

The economic dispatch problem (EDP) poses a significant challenge in energy management for modern power systems, particularly as these systems undergo expansion. This growth escalates the demand for communication resources and increases the risk of communication failures. To address this challenge, we propose a distributed algorithm with network-independent step sizes and an event-triggered mechanism, which reduces communication requirements and enhances adaptability. Unlike traditional methods, our algorithm uses network-independent step sizes derived from each agent's local cost functions, thus eliminating the need for detailed network topology knowledge. The theoretical derivation identifies a range of step size values that depend solely on the objective function's strong convexity and the gradient's Lipschitz continuity. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm is shown to achieve a linear convergence rate, assuming the event triggering threshold criteria are met for linear convergence. Numerical experiments further validate the effectiveness and advantages of our proposed distributed algorithm by demonstrating its ability to maintain good convergence characteristics while reducing communication frequency. © 2024 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

Attitude Takeover control for Noncooperative Space Targets Based on Gaussian Processes with Online Model Learning

One major challenge for autonomous attitude takeover control for on-orbit servicing of spacecraft is that an accurate dynamic motion model of the combined vehicles is highly nonlinear, complex and often costly to identify online, which makes traditional model-based control impractical for this task. To address this issue, a recursive online sparse Gaussian Process (GP)-based learning strategy for attitude takeover control of noncooperative targets with maneuverability is proposed, where the unknown dynamics are online compensated based on the learnt GP model in a semi-feedforward manner. The method enables the continuous use of on-orbit data to successively improve the learnt model during online operation and has reduced computational load compared to standard GP regression. Next to the GP-based feedforward, a feedback controller is proposed that varies its gains based on the predicted model confidence, ensuring robustness of the overall scheme. Moreover, rigorous theoretical proofs of Lyapunov stability and boundedness guarantees of the proposed method-driven closed-loop system are provided in the probabilistic sense. A simulation study based on a high-fidelity simulator is used to show the effectiveness of the proposed strategy and demonstrate its high performance. © 2023, CC BY-NC-SA.
