Using Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) for nonlinear system identification has proven to be a promising approach, but despite of all recent research efforts, many practical and theoretical problems still remain open. Specifically, noise handling and models, issues of consistency and reliable estimation under minimisation of the prediction error are the most severe problems. The latter comes with numerous practical challenges such as explosion of the computational cost in terms of the number of data samples and the occurrence of instabilities during optimization. In this paper, we aim to overcome these issues by proposing a method which uses a truncated prediction loss and a subspace encoder for state estimation. The truncated prediction loss is computed by selecting multiple truncated subsections from the time series and computing the average prediction loss. To obtain a computationally efficient estimation method that minimizes the truncated prediction loss, a subspace encoder represented by an artificial neural network is introduced. This encoder aims to approximate the state reconstructability map of the estimated model to provide an initial state for each truncated subsection given past inputs and outputs. By theoretical analysis, we show that, under mild conditions, the proposed method is locally consistent, increases optimization stability, and achieves increased data efficiency by allowing for overlap between the subsections. The article presents a study on classifying wind turbine defects using the SqueezeNet neural network. Wind turbines are critical for renewable energy, but defects such as corrosion, erosion, and cracks can significantly reduce their efficiency. The study proposes using image classification techniques with neural networks, particularly SqueezeNet, to automate defect detection. The compact nature of SqueezeNet makes it suitable for real-time applications with limited computing resources. Through training and testing, the network achieved an accuracy of 89%, demonstrating its potential to improve wind turbine maintenance and reduce operational costs.

In the contemporary retail sector, deciphering customer behavior is crucial for businesses vying for a competitive advantage. While customer loyalty has conventionally been gauged through parameters such as repeat purchases and promotional response, the merging of technology, media, and commerce has necessitated a reevaluation of these benchmarks. This study recognizes the inadequacy of solely relying on traditional transactional data to evaluate loyalty. Utilizing Machine Learning (ML), we crafted a novel model to predict customer loyalty, taking into account a plethora of modern factors, including online behavior and social media interactions. This research leveraged a diverse dataset and sophisticated ML algorithms to identify subtle patterns and relationships. Key findings include the significance of online behavior in loyalty prediction, the emerging role of social media interactions, and the nuanced influence of device preferences on brand loyalty. Notably, this manuscript offers a pioneering ML model that accurately reflects the complexities of the modern retail landscape, providing a valuable tool for businesses seeking to foster enduring customer relationships. © 2023 SPIE.

Machine learning(ML)has taken the world by a tornado with its prevalent applications in automating ordinary tasks and using turbulent insights throughout scientific research and design *** is a massive area within artificial intelligence(AI)that focuses on obtaining valuable information out of data,explaining why ML has often been related to stats and data *** advanced meta-heuristic optimization algorithm is proposed in this work for the optimization problem of antenna architecture *** algorithm is designed,depending on the hybrid between the Sine Cosine Algorithm(SCA)and the Grey Wolf Optimizer(GWO),to train neural networkbased Multilayer Perceptron(MLP).The proposed optimization algorithm is a practical,versatile,and trustworthy platform to recognize the design parameters in an optimal way for an endorsement double T-shaped monopole *** proposed algorithm likewise shows a comparative and statistical analysis by different curves in addition to the ANOVA and *** offers the superiority and validation stability evaluation of the predicted results to verify the procedures’accuracy.

Reachability Analysis Using Constrained Polynomial Logical Zonotopes

In this paper, we propose reachability analysis using constrained polynomial logical zonotopes. We perform reachability analysis to compute the set of states that could be reached. To do this, we utilize a recently introduced set representation called polynomial logical zonotopes for performing computationally efficient and exact reachability analysis on logical systems. Notably, polynomial logical zonotopes address the "curse of dimensionality" when analyzing the reachability of logical systems since the set representation can represent 2ℎ binary vectors using ℎ generators. After finishing the reachability analysis, the formal verification involves verifying whether the intersection of the calculated reachable set and the unsafe set is empty or not. Polynomial logical zonotopes lack closure under intersections, prompting the formulation of constrained polynomial logical zonotopes, which preserve the computational efficiency and exactness of polynomial logical zonotopes for reachability analysis while enabling exact intersections. Additionally, an extensive empirical study is presented to demonstrate and validate the advantages of constrained polynomial logical zonotopes. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper proposed a passive fault tolerant control (FTC) approach for the class of linear parameter-varying systems to deal with faults and failures in the actuator channel. The method provided in this study combines the robustness feature of integral sliding mode control (ISMC) and control allocation (CA) obtained through singular value decomposition of the input matrix. The purpose is to effectively handle faults and failures along the entire operating spectrum, which involves various scheduling parameters. This technique is effective because the same baseline controller, initially developed for a nominal system, can deal with a wide range of faults and failures without acquiring fault information. The performance of ISM-FTC is tested on a longitudinal model of aircraft system. Numerical simulations indicate no noticeable difference in tracking performance between nominal and faulty conditions.

Digital twins have a major potential to form a significant part of urban management in emergency planning, as they allow more efficient designing of the escape routes, better orientation in exceptional situations, and faster rescue intervention. Nevertheless, creating the twins still remains a largely manual effort, due to a lack of 3D-representations, which are available only in limited amounts for some new buildings. Thus, in this paper we aim to synthesize 3D information from commonly available 2D architectural floor plans. We propose two novel pixel-wise segmentation methods based on the MDA-Unet and MACU-Net architectures with improved skip connections, an attention mechanism, and a training objective together with a reconstruction part of the pipeline, which vectorizes the segmented plans to create a 3D model. The proposed methods are compared with two other state-of-the-art techniques and several benchmark datasets. On the commonly used CubiCasa benchmark dataset, our methods have achieved the mean F1 score of 0.86 over five examined classes, outperforming the other pixel-wise approaches tested. In this paper, we study unconstrained distributed optimization strongly convex problems, in which the exchange of information in the network is captured by a directed graph topology over digital channels that have limited capacity (and hence information should be quantized). Distributed methods in which nodes use quantized communication yield a solution at the proximity of the optimal solution, hence reaching an error floor that depends on the quantization level used;the finer the quantization the lower the error floor. However, it is not possible to determine in advance the optimal quantization level that ensures specific performance guarantees (such as achieving an error floor below a predefined threshold). Choosing a very small quantization level that would guarantee the desired performance, requires information packets of very large size, which is not desirable (could increase the probability of packet losses, increase delays, etc) and often not feasible due to the limited capacity of the channels available. In order to obtain a communication-efficient distributed solution and a sufficiently close proximity to the optimal solution, we propose a quantized distributed optimization algorithm that converges in a finite number of steps and is able to adjust the quantization level accordingly. The proposed solution uses a finite-time distributed optimization protocol to find a solution to the problem for a given quantization level in a finite number of steps and keeps refining the quantization level until the difference in the solution between two successive solutions with different quantization levels is below a certain pre-specified threshold. Therefore, the proposed algorithm progressively refines the quantization level, thus eventually achieving low error floor with a reduced communication burden. During the COVID19 epidemic, people of all ages from all walks of life around the world have become inevitably familiar with and almost dependent on the digital tools of the age and the opportunities they offer. A change had to take place very quickly that was unprecedented. This process has also affected education. During the time of the reading lock-in, there was a proliferation of digital curricular content. The second time around, online education came to the fore, thanks to less or well-functioning online platforms, and has since become part of everyday teaching. What is the effectiveness and usefulness of sharing knowledge in this way? Is literacy still needed at all? Can online and hybrid (a controlled mix of face-to-face and online) education replace the well-established contact and face-to-face education? The study show that the respondents believe that online education has had an impact on literacy and that it is perceived to have a positive impact. The results indicate that online education has a positive impact on the literacy levels of students, as it facilitates knowledge acquisition and enhances digital literacy skills.

Voltage source inverters are widely used in industry due to their high control performance and efficiency in electric motor drive systems. The output voltage of inverter at the switching instance causes the generation of bearing current, leading to bearing damage. To investigate the impact of bearing currents on bearing damage, this paper first analyzes the mechanism of bearing currents. Then, a control method for bearing current reduction is proposed. The two-phase pulse-width modulation method that considers the saliency of IPMSM and a capacitive filter topology is presented and verified by experiments in commercial electric vehicle drive system. As a result, the bearing current is reduced by 91% in comparison with space vector pulse-width modulation.
