H observer-based control for fuzzy Hadamard fractional-order systems

While the $$H_\infty $$ observer-based control has found widespread application in the literature for integer-order systems, researchers have shown less interest in addressing the same issue within the fractional-order framework. In this context, this study delves into the application of $$H_\infty $$ observer-based control for the Hadamard fractional-order system (HFOS) described by the Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy models (TSFM). Using Lyapunov approach and by employing a matrix decoupling technique, LMI based conditions ensuring the existence of an observer and controller, are proposed. To minimize the impact of disturbances on the controlled output, $$H_\infty $$ optimization technique is used. The validity of our approach is substantiated through an example, underscoring the robustness and reliability of our proposed findings.

Using the plasma wave characteristics and remote sensing technology, the k-vector direction of plasma waves can provide important information for understanding the global features of space plasma. In this study, we proposed a Bayesian k-vector estimation method in magnetized cold plasma based on the wave distribution function method. The proposed method can be applied to various types of sensors with easy visualization and calculation of the estimation accuracy. We verified the effectiveness of the proposed method through simulations.

Every new generation of modern vehicles aims to provide the customers with a higher level of comfort and entertainment services. Consequently, the burden is placed upon the manufacturers to incorporate ever more complex electronic systems in their products and introduce service-based technologies. To meet these demands, service-oriented architecture (SOA) has become an integral part of the Adaptive AUTOSAR as the industry standard. Also, mobile services and applications are natively supported in the new in-vehicle infotainment systems (IVI) which usually run on the Android operating system. As these fundamentally different technologies are incorporated in the vehicles, the developers are facing the challenge of connecting them and exchanging information between the services running in different domains. Service-oriented architectures usually rely on a model-driven engineering approach to facilitate the development of the applications. However, as the complexity of the system grows, the mapping of various metamodels becomes a challenge, as no single standard is used across all domains in the vehicle. This paper provides a possible solution for mapping the already existing AUTOSAR metamodel to an Android Interface Definition Language (AIDL) metamodel. By applying the proposed mapping, it is possible to build applications that require the cooperation of various domains within the vehicle.

Due to their flexibility, battery powered or energy-harvesting wireless networks are deployed in diverse applications. Securing data transmissions between wireless devices is of critical importance in order to avoid privacy-sensitive user data leakage. In this paper, we focus on the scenario where some nodes are curious (but not malicious) and try to identify the initial states of one (or more) other nodes, while some other nodes aim to preserve the privacy of their initial states from these curious nodes. We present a privacy-preserving finite transmission event-triggered quantized average consensus algorithm. Its operation is suitable for battery-powered or energy-harvesting wireless network since it guarantees (i) efficient (quantized) communication, and (ii) transmission ceasing (which allows preservation of available energy). Furthermore, we present topological conditions under which the proposed algorithm allows nodes to preserve their privacy. We conclude with a comparison of our algorithm against other algorithms in the existing literature.

In industrial settings, querying data streams from Internet of Things (IoT) devices benefits from utilizing elastic criteria to enhance the interpretability of the current state of the monitored environment. Fuzzy sets provide this elasticity, enabling the aggregation and representation of similar values in a human-comprehensible manner. However, many sensor signals exhibit temporal oscillations, leading to varying interpretations of the signal based on its current trend (rising or falling). This hysteresis in signal (and subsequently of the production device) interpretation inspired us to introduce this phenomenon into data stream processing, resulting in the novel concept of hysteretic fuzzy sets. This article demonstrates how fuzzy searching and grouping can be applied to IoT sensor signals in flexible Big Data stream processing on Apache Kafka. We illustrate the impact of data stream querying with KSQL queries involving fuzzy sets (encompassing fuzzy filtering of data stream events, fuzzy transformation of data stream attributes, fuzzy grouping, and joining) on the flexibility of executed operations and computational resources utilized by the Kafka processing engine. Finally, our experiments with hysteretic fuzzy sets while analyzing sensor signals in power plants demonstrate that this novel approach effectively reduces the number of alarms while monitoring the state of the production machine.

The paper makes the first steps towards a behavioral theory of LPV state-space representations with an affine dependency on scheduling, by characterizing minimality of such state-space representations. It is shown that minimality is equivalent to observability, and that minimal realizations of the same behavior are isomorphic. Finally, we establish a formal relationship between minimality of LPV state-space representations with an affine dependence on scheduling and minimality of LPV state-space representations with a dynamic and meromorphic dependence on scheduling. © 2023, CC BY.

Autonomous Industrial Cyber-Physical systems (ICPS) represent a future vision where industrial systems achieve full autonomy, integrating physical processes seamlessly with communication, computing and control technologies while holistically embedding intelligence. Cloud-Fog Automation is a new digitalized industrial automation reference architecture that has been recently proposed. This architecture is a fundamental paradigm shift from the traditional International Society of Automation (ISA)-95 model to accelerate the convergence and synergy of communication, computing, and control towards a fully autonomous ICPS. With the deployment of new wireless technologies to enable almost-deterministic ultra-reliable low-latency communications, a joint design of optimal control and computing has become increasingly important in modern ICPS. It is also imperative that system-wide cyber-physical security are critically enforced. Despite recent advancements in the field, there are still significant research gaps and open technical challenges. Therefore, a deliberate rethink in co-designing and synergizing communications, computing, and control (which we term "3C co-design") is required. In this paper, we position Cloud-Fog Automation with 3C co-design as the new paradigm to realize the vision of autonomous ICPS. We articulate the state-of-the-art and future directions in the field, and specifically discuss how goal-oriented communication, virtualization-empowered computing, and Quality of Service (QoS)-aware control can drive Cloud-Fog Automation towards a fully autonomous ICPS, while accounting for system-wide cyber-physical security. © 1983-2012 IEEE.

In this work, we propose a data-driven technique for a formal estimation of infinitesimal generators of continuous-time stochastic systems with unknown dynamics. In the proposed framework, we first approximate the infinitesimal generator of the solution process via a set of data collected from solution processes of unknown systems. We then put some proper assumptions on dynamics of systems and quantify the closeness between the infinitesimal generator and its approximation while providing a priori guaranteed confidence bound. We show that both the time discretization and the number of data play significant roles in providing a reasonable closeness precision. Motivations and Related Works. Infinitesimal generator of a stochastic process (i.e., a partial differential operator that encodes a great deal of information about the process) plays a principal role in many analysis frameworks including: (i) stability analysis of continuous-time stochastic systems via Lyapunov functions [1], (ii) establishing similarity relations between two continuous-time stochastic systems via stochastic simulation functions [2], (iii) constructing finite abstractions of continuous-time stochastic control systems [3], and (iv) safety analysis of continuous-time stochastic systems via barrier certificates [4], to name a few. In the relevant literature, only [5] studies the estimation of infinitesimal generators, whose approach is based on the assumption of knowing the precise model and discretizing both time and state. To the best of our knowledge, our work is the first to propose a method for estimating the infinitesimal generator of stochastic systems with unknown dynamics while providing formal guarantees. There can be none. In this paper, we address the problem of a set of discrete-time networked agents reaching average consensus privately and resiliently in the presence of a subset of attacked agents. Existing approaches to the problem rely on trade-offs between accuracy, privacy, and resilience, sacrificing one for the others. We show that a separation-like principle for privacy-preserving and resilient discrete-time average consensus is possible. Specifically, we propose a scheme that combines strategies from resilient average consensus and private average consensus, which yields both desired properties. The proposed scheme has polynomial time-complexity on the number of agents and the maximum number of attacked agents. In other words, each agent that is not under attack is able to detect and discard the values of the attacked agents, reaching the average consensus of non-attacked agents while keeping each agent's initial state private. Finally, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method with numerical results.
