Radiation therapy treatment planning requires balancing the delivery of the target dose while sparing normal tissues, making it a complex process. To streamline the planning process and enhance its quality, there is a growing demand for knowledge-based planning (KBP). Ensemble learning has shown impressive power in various deep learning tasks, and it has great potential to improve the performance of KBP. However, the effectiveness of ensemble learning heavily depends on the diversity and individual accuracy of the base learners. Moreover, the complexity of model ensembles is a major concern, as it requires maintaining multiple models during inference, leading to increased computational cost and storage overhead. In this study, we propose a novel learning-based ensemble approach named LENAS, which integrates neural architecture search with knowledge distillation for 3D radiotherapy dose prediction. Our approach starts by exhaustively searching each block from an enormous architecture space to identify multiple architectures that exhibit promising performance and significant diversity. To mitigate the complexity introduced by the model ensemble, we adopt the teacher-student paradigm, leveraging the diverse outputs from multiple learned networks as supervisory signals to guide the training of the student network. Furthermore, to preserve high-level semantic information, we design a hybrid-loss to optimize the student network, enabling it to recover the knowledge embedded within the teacher networks. The proposed method has been evaluated on two public datasets, OpenKBP and AIMIS. Mobile data offloading is a cost-effective and promising approach to alleviate the burden of the cellular network. In this paper, we focus on designing a truthful incentive mechanism that the auction cloud platform motivates mobile users with deadline constraints and capacity constraints to offload data. First, we formulate the mobile data offloading problem as a reverse auction. Then, we reduce this social welfare maximization reverse auction for data offloading as an integer linear programming (ILP) problem. To solve this problem, we propose a data offloading auction greedy algorithm to choose the most cost-effective bids. We decompose the data offload auction greedy algorithm into the winner determination problem (WDP) and the threshold payment scheme. Moreover, we propose a delay winner winning algorithm based on the data offloading auction greedy algorithm. Extensive simulation experiments demonstrate that the data offloading auction mechanism dramatically reduces the burden of the cellular network while meeting the offloading tasks deadline constraints and mobile user capacity constraints. © 2019 IEEE.

In Traffic Flows Monitoring System (TFMS), the key problem is how to install Roadside Units (RSUs) reliably to monitor traffic flows with the constrained budget. The reliability of Traffic Flows Monitoring System(TFMS) is determined by the number of RSUs each traffic flow pass through, and the RSUs placement number is determined by the budget and the placement strategy. In this paper, we investigate the budget constraint RSUs placement problem for traffic flows monitoring system with reliability in vehicular networks. Given a budget constraint, the problem is how to install RSUs to ensure the reliability of TFMS, that is each traffic flow pass through RSUs as many as possible with the limited budget. We prove that this problem is NP-hard. Then, we propose two greedy algorithms to solve the problem according to the pigeonhole principle. Moreover, approximation ratios of proposed algorithms are given. Finally, we verify the feasibility of proposed algorithms through extensive experiments, and the results show that the proposed algorithms are superior to the other algorithms. © 2019 IEEE.

Vehicle-based crowdsensing (VCS) is a special case in crowdsourcing, and task assignment is a basic and important problem. In this paper, we investigate the minimum cost task assignment (MCTA) problem for vehicle-based crowdsensing. The VCS platform hopes to recruit some vehicles to complete given spatial-temporal tasks with the minimum cost. As vehicle trajectories are dynamic, we divide the MCTA problem into two sub-problems, the deterministic trajectory (D-MCTA) problem, and nondeterministic trajectory (N-MCTA) problem. For D-MCTA problem, we prove that the D-MCTA problem is NP-hard, and we propose a greedy algorithm to solve this problem. For N-MCTA problem, firstly, we determine the probability of each vehicle's trajectory through the logistic regression method. Then, we exploit the semi-Markov method to calculate the probability of each vehicle executing the task. Moreover, a greedy algorithm is proposed and the theoretical analysis is given. Finally, extensive simulations have been conducted to show the performance of our proposed algorithms is superior to the other algorithms. © 2019 IEEE.

Automatic Carnatic Music (CM) transcription is an open problem in need of a standardized descriptive notation. The level of detail needed in a descriptive transcription makes it tedious to obtain ground truth by manual means. In this paper, we propose a novel state-based representation of the pitch curve motivated by CM components called constant-pitch notes and stationary points. We also propose a novel transcription technique that uses the Viterbi algorithm to estimate the states and quantized pitch-values. The proposed technique adheres best to raga-notes compared to the existing critical-points technique and uniform quantization. In a listening test, clips synthesized from the proposed notation were rated significantly better (324 ratings, p <;0.001) than those from critical-points. Further, speed-halving based on state information best matches the actual, observed CM component-duration ratios without losing raga-characteristics. Thus, the proposed transcription can be corrected manually to obtain ground truth and can enhance learning tools.

Mobile crowdsensing is an effective way to collect sensing data about regions of interest. Effective incentive mechanisms are invaluable in mobile crowd sensing, for recruiting a number of mobile users to fulfill coverage requirement in the interested regions. In this paper, we exploit the potential of mobile users by designing a spatial-temporal crowd sensing incentive mechanism for smartphone users. We first use the logistic regression technique to mine user preferences from the user's historical data. Then, we propose a sub-module approximation algorithm to solve the participant recruitment problem, which is proved to be an NP-hard problem. Moreover, we design the winner auction algorithm (WAA) based on the reverse auction mechanism to solve the critical payment allocation problem. Finally, we demonstrate that our mechanism achieves truthfulness, individual rationality, and high computation efficiency through both theoretical analysis and experimental simulation. © 2019 IEEE.

The development of multi laser-powder bed fusion (PBF) technology has significantly reduced the production time for large engine components. However, the impact of thermal effects and microstructural characteristics in the laser beam overlap region on the anisotropic mechanical behavior of metallic materials remains unclear. This study investigated the anisotropic tensile properties and high-cycle fatigue behavior of Ti6Al4V produced by both single laser-PBF (SL-PBF) and dual laser-PBF (DL-PBF). As-built DL-PBF samples exhibited high strength (1404 MPa) but low ductility (3.6 %). After heat treatment, the samples achieved a strength-ductility balance, with an ultimate tensile strength of 1089 MPa, and an elongation of 17.1 %. The mechanical properties of Ti6Al4V produced by DL-PBF were influenced by the α lath thickness, dislocation density and texture. The precipitation of small-angle grain boundaries during DL-PBF process was found to contribute to the strong anisotropy. Due to the influence of internal pore forming, the fatigue strength of the DL-PBF samples was lower than that of the SL-PBF samples. Pores in the dual-laser beam overlap region accelerated the fatigue crack propagation, resulting in a venation-like pattern. In contrast, cracks in the SL-PBF samples propagated in a circular pattern around internal pore. A high-speed camera was employed to capture the dual-laser beams dynamics during pore formation. This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the mechanical properties and pore formation mechanisms in the DL-PBF process.

Look and Listen: A Multi-modality Late Fusion Approach to Scene Classification for Autonomous Machines

The novelty of this study consists in a multi-modality approach to scene classification, where image and audio complement each other in a process of deep late fusion. The approach is demonstrated on a difficult classification problem, consisting of two synchronised and balanced datasets of 16,000 data objects, encompassing 4.4 hours of video of 8 environments with varying degrees of similarity. We first extract video frames and accompanying audio at one second intervals. The image and the audio datasets are first classified independently, using a fine-tuned VGG16 and an evolutionary optimised deep neural network, with accuracies of 89.27% and 93.72%, respectively. This is followed by late fusion of the two neural networks to enable a higher order function, leading to accuracy of 96.81% in this multi-modality classifier with synchronised video frames and audio clips. The tertiary neural network implemented for late fusion outperforms classical state-of-the-art classifiers by around 3% when the two primary networks are considered as feature generators. We show that situations where a single-modality may be confused by anomalous data points are now corrected through an emerging higher order integration. Prominent examples include a water feature in a city misclassified as a river by the audio classifier alone and a densely crowded street misclassified as a forest by the image classifier alone. Background: Histopathology diagnosis is often regarded as the final diagnostic method for malignant tumors, but it has some drawbacks. This paper explores a computer-aided diagnostic method that can identify benign and malignant gastric cancer with histopathology images. Method: This article obtains the most suitable process through multiple experiments, compared multiple methods and features for classification. Firstly, the U-net is applied to segment the image. Next, the nucleus is extracted from the segmented image and the Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) diagram structure is drawn. The third step is to extract the graph-curvature features of histopathology image according to the MST image. Finally, by inputting graph-curvature features into the classifier, the recognition results for benign or malignant can be obtained. Result: During the experiment, we use various methods for comparison. In the image segmentation stage, U-net, watershed algorithm and Otsu threshold segmentation methods are used respectively. Combined with multiple indicators, we find that the U-net method is the most suitable for segmentation of histopathology images. In the feature extraction stage, in addition to extracting graph-edge feature and graph-curvature feature, several basic image features are also extracted, including Red, Green, Blue feature, Gray-Level Co-occurrence Matrix feature, Histogram of Oriented Gradient feature, and Local Binary Pattern feature. In the classifier design stage, we experimented with various methods, such as Support vector machine (SVM), Random forest, Artificial Neural Network, K Nearest Neighbors, VGG-16 and Inception-V3. Through the comparison and analysis, the classification results with an accuracy of 98.57% can be obtained by inputting the graph-curvature feature into SVM classifier.
