This article presents and discusses necessary conditions of optimality for infinite horizon dynamic optimization problems with inequality state constraints and set inclusion constraints at both endpoints of the trajectory. The cost functional depends on the state variable at the final time, and the dynamics are given by a differential inclusion. Moreover, the optimization is carried out over asymptotically convergent state trajectories. The novelty of the proposed optimality conditions for this class of problems is that the boundary condition of the adjoint variable is given as a weak directional inclusion at infinity. This improves on the currently available necessary conditions of optimality for infinite horizon problems.

Automotive architectures consist of multiple electronic control units (ECUs) which run distributed control applications. Such ECUs are connected to sensors and actuators and communicate via shared buses. Resource arbitration at the ECUs and also in the communication medium, coupled with variabilities in execution requirements of tasks results in jitter in the signal/data streams existing in the system. As a result, buffers are required at the ECUs and bus controllers. However, these buffers often implement different semantics - FIFO queuing, which is the most straightforward buffering scheme, and data refreshing, where stale data is overwritten by freshly sampled data. Traditional timing and schedulability analysis that are used to compute, e.g., end-to-end delays, in such automotive architectures can only model FIFO buffering. As a result, they return pessimistic delay and resource estimates because in reality overwritten data items do not get processed by the system. In this paper we propose an analytical framework for accurately modeling such data refresh semantics. Our model exploits a novel feedback control mechanism and is purely functional in nature. As a result, it is scalable and does not involve any explicit state modeling. Using this model we can estimate various timing and performance metrics for automotive ECU networks consisting of buffers implementing different data handling semantics. We illustrate the utility of this model through three case studies from the automotive electronics domain.

The aim of this work is to propose a multifractal analysis method for Multifractal Detrended Fluctuation analysis (MF-DFA) of Blood Oxygen Level Dependent (BOLD) functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI). The fMRI signals exhibit a 1/f power spectrum, hence their structure has self-similarity and long memory, being usually successfully analyzed by different fractal analysis methods without a previous knowledge of haemodynamic models. Therefore, to validate activation detection using the MF-DFA method, a comparison study between images obtained using General Linear Model (GLM) and Independent Component Analysis (ICA) was conducted and evaluated by discrimination power, applying Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) analysis to the results.

In this paper a novel decentralized approach for task sequencing within a multiple missions control framework is presented. The main contribution of this work concerns the decentralization of a control framework for multiple mission execution in order to enhance the robustness of the system, and the application of the latter to a heterogeneous robotic network. The proposed approach is based on the Matrixbased Discrete Event Framework (MDEF). This formalism is adapted to networks of heterogeneous robots, i.e., robots with different capabilities, and to the decentralized control of mission execution using a consensus-based approach which guarantees the agreement among robots on executed actions and their consequences.
