Pulsewidth modulation, similar to voltage-space vector control in switches utilizing a field programmable gate array, is compared with PSpice simulation in a three switches converter is presented. The PSpice simulation is used in time domain simulation of the rectifier and inverter circuit. The PSpice PWM simulation modelled is compared with the experiment which is implemented in a field programmable gate array based on a carrier frequency of 19.2 kHz. The PWM is applied to the converter operated as a step-down converter where the output voltage can be controlled by the modulation index in the range of 0 to 1.5 V/spl circ//sub ph/. Simulation and experimental results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model.

This paper describes work performed to model the dynamics of a system consisting of two manipulators bringing sheet metal components of a car-body into contact for welding. A sheet metal payload is first discretized into finite shell elements. The flexible payload dynamics are derived via the Lagrangian formulation and combined with the robot dynamics to form one robot-and-payload system. The system equations are simplified by first ignoring certain of the terms that describe the interaction between the flexible and rigid-body coordinates; and second, by applying Guyan reduction. The model developed is applied to simulate the mating of two halves of a car door under three control methods: PD control with gravity compensation, computed torque control, and master/slave hybrid position/force control.

Vacuum pan crystallization is a process that is very difficult to control by classical means. This paper presents a method of using a rule-based expert system for the control of such a process. The structure of the expert controller for adjusting the characteristic conductivity is shown to consist of a diagnostic expert system and a discrete dynamic model that is used for conversion of semantic results into numeric output values. This paper presents a method for using a rule-based expert system for the control of several technological processes in sugar production. The structure and principle of the expert controller are shown. Extraction, crystallisation and process co-ordination were chosen for practical implementation of the expert system as processes which are very difficult to control by classical means. The paper presents a contribution to the analysis of wavelet transfer function use in neural network systems and the discussion of some possible learning algorithms of such structures. Wavelets local properties both in time and frequency domains are stated at first giving motivation for wavelet networks application and providing bases for their initial coefficient estimation described recently. The main part of the paper is devoted to the network coefficients optimization using genetic algorithms as an alternative to the gradient descent method. A good model is essential in simulating and analyzing a system satisfactorily. This paper proposes a new computer-aided modelling methodology to construct parsimonious models for dynamic physical systems. A set of domain-independent modelling principles and domain-dependent modelling constraints has been formulated to guide parsimonious model construction. Models and the knowledge base for the enhancement of models have been described by bond graphs. After a parsimonious model is generated, two types of qualitative analysis are conducted;one is to derive unknown states from known states and the other is to predict the effects of parameter changes on the whole system. This methodology is only applicable when the structure of a dynamic system is known beforehand. A detailed case study is presented to demonstrate this approach.
