Moisture content is one of the important indexes of food storage security. The existing detection methods are time-consuming and high cost such that it is difficult to realize online moisture detection. In this paper, according to the dielectric properties of wheat, we propose a wheat moisture content detection system with commercial Wi-Fi devices, termed WiWm-EP. First, we introduce the relationship between the moisture content of wheat and its dielectric constant. Then, we establish an equivalent permittivity (EP) model to characterize wheat moisture content, where the EP can be calculated from channel state information (CSI) of the dual antenna model. Besides, we build the fitting function between the EP and the moisture content as the wheat moisture detection model. Finally, we evaluate the performance of the system through different experiments. The average relative error of the detection results of five wheat samples with different moisture contents is less than 3%.

Mechatronic systems have increasingly high performance requirements for motion control. The low-frequency contribution of the flexible dynamics, i.e. the compliance, should be compensated for by means of snap feedforward to achieve high accuracy. Position-dependent compliance, which often occurs in motion systems, requires the snap feedforward parameter to be modeled as a function of position. Position-dependent compliance is compensated for by using a Gaussian process to model the snap feedforward parameter as a continuous function of position. A simulation of a flexible beam shows that a significant performance increase is achieved when using the Gaussian process snap feedforward parameter to compensate for position-dependent compliance. © 2022, CC BY.

Condition monitoring is a cutting-edge method in machine maintenance that analyzes the performance of machines on the basis of data gathered from sensors that have previously been placed on the machines themselves. The parameters of the machines are examined to see whether there is a significant change that indicates the presence of a defect in the manufacturing process. This constitutes a major portion of precognitive support. Plants and equipment have failed in the past, and this article seeks to determine why this has happened. Within a typical plant, monitoring frameworks and condition checking are coordinated in order to increase the plant and equipment observing frameworks. Observational apparatuses of the nature of the conditions used in the temperature, vibration, spillage, consumption, and splitting screens have been installed and are being used. © 2021 IEEE.

Label Cluster Chains for Multi-Label Classification

Multi-label classification is a type of supervised machine learning that can simultaneously assign multiple labels to an instance. To solve this task, some methods divide the original problem into several sub-problems (local approach), others learn all labels at once (global approach), and others combine several classifiers (ensemble approach). Regardless of the approach used, exploring and learning label correlations is important to improve the classifier predictions. Ensemble of Classifier Chains (ECC) is a well-known multi-label method that considers label correlations and can achieve good overall performance on several multi-label datasets and evaluation measures. However, one of the challenges when working with ECC is the high dimensionality of the label space, which can impose limitations for fully-cascaded chains as the complexity increases regarding feature space expansion. To improve classifier chains, we propose a method to chain disjoint correlated label clusters obtained by applying a partition method in the label space. During the training phase, the ground truth labels of each cluster are used as new features for all of the following clusters. During the test phase, the predicted labels of clusters are used as new features for all the following clusters. Our proposal, called Label Cluster Chains for Multi-Label Classification (LCC-ML), uses multi-label Random Forests as base classifiers in each cluster, combining their predictions to obtain a final multi-label classification. Our proposal obtained better results compared to the original ECC. In the present study, the finite-time asynchronous dissipative filter design problem for the Markov jump systems with conic-type nonlinearity is studied. The hidden Markov model can describe the asynchronism embodied in the system modes and the filter modes reasonably. Moreover, a suitable LyapunovKrasovskii function is utilized and linear matrix inequalities are applied to obtain adequate conditions. These techniques guarantee the finite-time boundedness and strict dissipativity of the filtering error dynamic system. Furthermore, the design problems of the passive filter and the H∞ filter are studied by adjusting the three parameters U, G and V. Finally, the filter gains and the optimal index α*are obtained and the correctness and feasibility of the designed approach are verified by a simulation example.

Due to the vagueness and uncertainties due to the coronavirus, it is crucial to implement the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the World Health Organization and the authorities. Therefore an effective control system is required that minimizes the vagueness and uncertainties of people who are on the front line during the period of this pandemic checking the entering persons in an indoor area where it is necessary to maintain a distance of six feet from one another to avoid the spread of coronavirus. In this research work, a robust and efficient system has been proposed that takes protective mask and feverishness values as input and applies them using the fuzzy logic algorithm. If these input values are according to the rules defined in the system, then the door will open as an output. Otherwise, the door will not open. It is, finally, analyzing the output values. This fuzzy model had been implemented using a microcontroller. The genuine difference in the duty cycle of the microcontroller’s output pulse was measured using a 100 MHz digital oscilloscope. Our proposed system was compared with different systems reported in the literature. This work reduces the human effort as well as the negligence of people and builds up the management system without the labor in a mint.

Medical Body Area Networks (MBANs) increasingly utilize wireless communication technologies to enhance the freedom and convenience for patients and caregivers. Currently, radio frequency (RF) is the prevalent medium in healthcare applications; however, the potential for electromagnetic interference with precision medical equipment remains a concern. This study introduces a novel design and implementation of a medical healthcare information system using the newly developed Wireless Visible Light Communication (VLC) technology, also known as Light Fidelity (Li-Fi). Visible Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), expected to soon surpass traditional incandescent and fluorescent bulbs as the primary light source due to their energy efficiency, facilitate this technology. In this research, patient health is monitored using sensors, with results displayed on an LCD. An LED lightbulb transmits the data as light signals, which are captured by a photo-detector at the receiver's end. This setup not only displays the output on an LCD but also alerts caregivers through an auditory signal, beeping every 15 seconds for respiration and every 30 seconds for heart rate monitoring. Moreover, these lighting fixtures serve dual functions: illumination and wireless data transmission, using the rapid switching capability of LEDs. This prototype VLC-based system offers a promising alternative for data services and monitoring in hospital areas where RF use is restricted.

The paper presents an approach to developing new educational programs for information technologies (IT) specialists using job market analysis. We developed a set of innovative software tools for collecting data from job sites and analyzing the data using machine learning algorithms. The tools were used to create a dataset of job advertisements from popular Russian job site HeadHunter for a period from 2006 until 2020. Both tools and dataset are freely available on the Internet. In order to develop the educational programs, we analyzed the demand for IT professions and programming languages, as well as joint occurrence of skills in job descriptions. To demonstrate the possibilities of our approach, two educational programs were created: A JavaScript-based program for Web Development and a Python-based program for Data Science. Developing the educational programs based on the requirements of the job market allows graduates to increase their employability. During the programs, students not only study the foundation of the profession such as programming languages, but also acquire a complete set of skills required to work in demanded positions. © 2021 IEEE.

Edge inference (EI) is a key solution to address the growing challenges of delayed response times, limited scalability, and privacy concerns in cloud-based Deep Neural Network (DNN) inference. However, deploying DNN models on resource-constrained edge devices faces more severe challenges, such as model storage limitations, dynamic service requests, and privacy risks. This paper proposes a novel framework for privacy-aware joint DNN model deployment and partition optimization to minimize long-term average inference delay under resource and privacy constraints. Specifically, the problem is formulated as a complex optimization problem considering model deployment, user-server association, and model partition strategies. To handle the NP-hardness and future uncertainties, a Lyapunov-based approach is introduced to transform the long-term optimization into a single-time-slot problem, ensuring system performance. Additionally, a coalition formation game model is proposed for edge server association, and a greedy-based algorithm is developed for model deployment within each coalition to efficiently solve the problem. Extensive simulations show that the proposed algorithms effectively reduce inference delay while satisfying privacy constraints, outperforming baseline approaches in various scenarios. In recent decades, various surrogate-assisted evolutionary algorithms (SAEAs) have been proposed to solve computationally expensive multiobjective optimization problems (EMOPs). Nevertheless, designing an SAEA to handle high-dimensional EMOPs and balance convergence, diversity, and computational complexity remains challenging. Here, we propose a two-phase SAEA (TP-SAEA), which follows the idea of convergence first and diversity second, for solving high-dimensional EMOPs. In Phase I, a surrogate-assisted problem reformulation method is proposed to fast-track the Pareto optimal set in association with some reference solutions. Specifically, the high-dimensional EMOP is reformulated into an expensive single-objective one with low-dimensional decision space. Then, the surrogate-assisted optimization is utilized to obtain well-converged solutions. In Phase II, the high-dimensional EMOP is decomposed into two subproblems to explore subregions of the decision space that can effectively promote the diversity of the solutions. The two subproblems are optimized independently via surrogate-assisted optimization, aiming to push the population towards different regions of the Pareto optimal front. Experiments are conducted on EMOPs with 100 to 500 decision variables compared with four state-of-the-art SAEAs. The proposed TP-SAEA obtains well-converged and diverse solutions with only 509 real function evaluations.
