Realizing precise control over multiquanta emission is crucial for quantum information processing, especially when integrated with advanced techniques of manipulating quantum states. Here, by spinning the resonator to induce the Sagnac effect, we can obtain nonreciprocal photon-phonon and photon-magnon super-Rabi oscillations under conditions of optically driving resonance transitions. Opening dissipative channels for such super-Rabi oscillations enables the realization of directional bundle emissions of entangled photon-phonon pairs and photon-magnon pairs by transferring pure multiquanta state to bundled multiquanta outside of the system. This nonreciprocal emission is a flexible switch that can be controlled with precision, and simultaneous emissions of different entangled pairs (such as photon-phonon or photon-magnon pairs) can even emerge but in opposite directions by driving the resonator from different directions. This ability to flexibly manipulate the system allows us to achieve directional entangled multiquanta emitters, and has also potential applications for building hybrid quantum networks and on-chip quantum communications. © 2024, CC BY.

Rethinking CNN Models for Audio Classification

In this paper, we show that ImageNet-Pretrained standard deep CNN models can be used as strong baseline networks for audio classification. Even though there is a significant difference between audio Spectrogram and standard ImageNet image samples, transfer learning assumptions still hold firmly. To understand what enables the ImageNet pretrained models to learn useful audio representations, we systematically study how much of pretrained weights is useful for learning spectrograms. We show (1) that for a given standard model using pretrained weights is better than using randomly initialized weights (2) qualitative results of what the CNNs learn from the spectrograms by visualizing the gradients. Besides, we show that even though we use the pretrained model weights for initialization, there is variance in performance in various output runs of the same model. This variance in performance is due to the random initialization of linear classification layer and random mini-batch orderings in multiple runs. This brings significant diversity to build stronger ensemble models with an overall improvement in accuracy. An ensemble of ImageNet pretrained DenseNet achieves 92.89% validation accuracy on the ESC-50 dataset and 87.42% validation accuracy on the UrbanSound8K dataset which is the current state-of-the-art on both of these datasets. The Technical Committee of the CESEI (Spanish Chapter of the IEEE Education Society) is focused on the Innovation, Research and Development (I+R+D) of the education in engineering, mainly Electric and Computer engineering. As in other interdisciplinary fields, the I+R+D involves several sources of information and different stakeholders, each one with its own focus and purpose. As a result, sometimes it may be complex for practitioners and researchers to identify the more appropriate entities for their interests. This paper shows how the CESEI Technical Committee tries to solve this difficulty by providing updated information regarding the main publications (journals), events (conferences) and awards to the best academic works. The paper focuses special attention on the activities held during 2020–2021.

The authors propose a novel reinforcement learning(RL)framework,where agent behaviour is governed by traditional control *** integrated approach,called time-in-action RL,enables RL to be applicable to many real-world systems,where underlying dynamics are known in their control theoretical *** key insight to facilitate this integration is to model the explicit time function,mapping the state-action pair to the time accomplishing the action by its underlying *** their framework,they describe an action by its value(action value),and the time that it takes to perform(action time).An action-value results from the policy of RL regarding a *** time is estimated by an explicit time model learnt from the measured activities of the underlying *** value network is then trained with embedded time model to predict action *** approach is tested using a variant of Atari Pong and proved to be convergent.

Towards practical and massively parallel quantum computing emulation for quantum chemistry

Quantum computing is moving beyond its early stage and seeking for commercial applications in chemical and biomedical sciences. In the current noisy intermediate-scale quantum computing era, quantum resource is too scarce to support these explorations. Therefore, it is valuable to emulate quantum computing on classical computers for developing quantum algorithms and validating quantum hardware. However, existing simulators mostly suffer from the memory bottleneck so developing the approaches for large-scale quantum chemistry calculations remains challenging. Here we demonstrate a high-performance and massively parallel variational quantum eigensolver (VQE) simulator based on matrix product states, combined with embedding theory for solving large-scale quantum computing emulation for quantum chemistry on HPC platforms. We apply this method to study the torsional barrier of ethane and the quantification of the protein-ligand interactions. Our largest simulation reaches 1000 qubits, and a performance of 216.9 PFLOPS is achieved on a new Sunway supercomputer, which sets the state-of-the-art for quantum computing emulation for quantum chemistry. © 2023, CC BY.

Real-time eyeblink detection in the wild can widely serve for fatigue detection, face anti-spoofing, emotion analysis, etc. The existing research efforts generally focus on single-person cases towards trimmed video. However, multi-person scenario within untrimmed videos is also important for practical applications, which has not been well concerned yet. To address this, we shed light on this research field for the first time with essential contributions on dataset, theory, and practices. In particular, a large-scale dataset termed MPEblink that involves 686 untrimmed videos with 8748 eyeblink events is proposed under multi-person conditions. The samples are captured from uncon-strainedfilms to reveal “in the wild“ characteristics. Meanwhile, a real-time multi-person eyeblink detection method is also proposed. Being different from the existing counter-parts, our proposition runs in a one-stage spatio-temporal way with end-to-end learning capacity. Specifically, it simultaneously addresses the sub-tasks of face detection, face tracking, and human instance-level eyeblink detection. This paradigm holds 2 main advantages: (1) eyeblink features can be facilitated via the face's global context (e.g., head pose and illumination condition) with joint optimization and interaction, and (2) addressing these sub-tasks in parallel instead of sequential manner can save time remarkably to meet the real-time running requirement. Experiments on MPEblink verify the essential challenges of real-time multi-person eyeblink detection in the wild for untrimmed video. Our method also outperforms existing approaches by large margins and with a high inference speed.

The use of neurostimulators in the treatment and therapy of neurodegenerative diseases is an alternative to pharmacological treatment. Unfortunately, most of these disorders are incurable, however, the use of neurostimulators can delay the onset of symptoms, the course of the disease and significantly improve the quality of life. Treatment with the use of neurostimulators also allows you to avoid side effects which usually accompany pharmacotherapy, or in order to replace it when prescribed medication is not working properly or not working at all. This paper focuses mainly on vagus nerve and deep brain stimulation.

To solve the ambiguity and uncertainty in the labeling process of power equipment corrosion datasets,a novel hierarchical annotation method(HAM)is ***,large boxes are used to label a large area covering the range of corrosion,provided that the area is visually continuous and adjacent to corrosion that cannot be clearly ***,in each labeling box established in the first step,regions with distinct corrosion and relative independence are labeled to form a second layer of nested ***,a series of comparative experiments are conducted with other common annotation methods to validate the effectiveness of *** experimental results show that,with the help of HAM,the recall of YOLOv5 increases from 50.79%to 59.41%;the recall of Faster R-CNN+VGG16 increases from 66.50%to 78.94%;the recall of Faster R-CNN+Res101 increases from 78.32%to 84.61%.Therefore,HAM can effectively improve the detection ability of mainstream models in detecting metal corrosion.

A Hybrid Adaptive Filter for Head Tracking in Augmented Reality (AR)-based Flight Simulators

This paper presents a novel approach for head tracking in augmented reality (AR) flight simulators using an adaptive fusion of Kalman and particle filters. This fusion dynamically balances the strengths of both algorithms, leveraging Kalman filters for computational efficiency and particle filters for handling non-linearities based on real-time factors such as sensor noise and head movement patterns. Our method demonstrates superior tracking precision and reduced latency, making it particularly effective for immersive pilot training in AR-based flight simulations. While focused on flight simulation, our approach holds high potential for broader applications in other AR and virtual reality (VR) environments where precise, real-time head tracking is crucial. These results provide actionable design guidance for developers optimizing tracking systems in environments that require fast response times and high accuracy. Future extensions of this research could explore the generalization of our approach across diverse AR applications, including human-computer interaction (HCI), medical simulations, and gaming. © 1968-2012 IEEE.
