For most use cases, the Semantic Web provides essential mechanisms to interlink data in a fast and efficient way. However, it is still not widely accepted in industry since some important features are not mature enough. Requirements include easier model transformation and access to dynamic data. One of the most missing important features is version control which would make it possible to record changes in a way that they can be rolled back at any time. Recent version control system are not very well integrated into the Semantic Web. This paper shows a novel way of dealing with version control for Linked Data. It presents R43ples as an approach using named graphs to semantically store the differences between revisions. Furthermore it allows direct access and manipulation of revisions with SPARQL. Thus, the access is almost transparent for the clients which can still use known SPARQL queries enhanced with some additional keywords. A prototypical implementation of the system shows a proof of concept and performance considerations. Copyright is held by the author/owner(s).

Activated carbon enhanced ozonation of oxalate attributed to HO·oxidation in bulk solution and surface oxidation: Effect of activated carbon dosage and pH

Ozonation of oxalate in aqueous phase was performed with a commercial activated carbon（AC）in this work. The effect of AC dosage and solution pH on the contribution of hydroxyl radicals（HOU） in bulk solution and oxidation on the AC surface to the removal of oxalate was studied. We found that the removal of oxalate was reduced by tert-butyl alcohol（tBA） with low dosages of AC,while it was hardly affected by tBA when the AC dosage was greater than 0.3 g/L. tBA also inhibited ozone decomposition when the AC dosage was no more than 0.05 g/L, but it did not work when the AC dosage was no less than 0.1 g/L. These observations indicate that HOUin bulk solution and oxidation on the AC surface both contribute to the removal of oxalate. HOU oxidation in bulk solution is significant when the dosage of AC is low, whereas surface oxidation is dominant when the dosage of AC is high. The oxalate removal decreased with increasing pH of the solution with an AC dosage of 0.5 g/L. The degradation of oxalate occurs mainly through surface oxidation in acid and neutral solution, but through HOUoxidation in basic bulk solution. A mechanism involving both HOUoxidation in bulk solution and surface oxidation was proposed for AC enhanced ozonation of oxalate.

The correct determination of the shelf mass including content is very important for the proper function of a universal shelf stacker (USS) drives life and construction USS so that these elements were not overloaded. Weighing can be done by direct methods using various sensors tension and compression but also the indirect method, by the torque sensing of current frequency converter, which controls the speed of the three-phase asynchronous motor. This method does not require any additional construction or adaptation or additional sensors or electronic evaluation system power operation. Weighting method of shelf in USS is based on the fact that the torque converter current is proportional to the sum of the weight of the shelf and the extractor and its value provides almost every frequency converter. In contrast to the direct weighing method of the shelf it is obvious economic advantage of this method and the accuracy is sufficient for the operation of USS. Copyright © 2015. Automatic calibration method of voxel size for cone-beam 3D-CT scanning system

For a cone-beam three-dimensional computed tomography （3D-CT） scanning system, voxel size is an important indicator to guarantee the accuracy of data analysis and feature measurement based on 3D-CT images. Meanwhile, the voxel size changes with the movement of the rotary stage along X-ray direction. In order to realize the automatic calibration of the voxel size, a new and easily-implemented method is proposed. According to this method, several projections of a spherical phantom are captured at different imaging positions and the corresponding voxel size values are calculated by non-linear least-square fitting. Through these interpolation values, a linear equation is obtained that reflects the relationship between the voxel size and the rotary stage translation distance from its nominal zero position. Finally, the linear equation is imported into the calibration module of the 3D-CT scanning system. When the rotary stage is moving along X-ray direction, the accurate value of the voxel size is dynamically exported. The experimental results prove that this method meets the requirements of the actual CT scanning system, and has virtues of easy implementation and high accuracy.

Optimization of tool-path generation for material extrusion-based additive manufacturing technology

In this study, we propose a tool-path generation approach for material extrusion-based additive manufacturing (AM) that considers the machining efficiency and fabrication precision, which are inherent drawbacks of general AM techniques compared with conventional manufacturing methods. The proposed approach aims to tackle the generation of direction-parallel tool-paths for the interior filling of simple connected areas, which comprises three main steps: (1) determining the inclination of reference lines;(2) generating and grouping tool-path segments into individual sub-paths;and (3) linking sub-paths based on specific requirements. These three modules interact to affect the efficiency and precision of AM significantly. In order to find an optimal inclination, we first analyze the impacts on the fabrication efficiency and manufacturing accuracy with different inclinations. A comparatively accurate building time model is developed subsequently to obtain the optimal tool-path inclination, but without compromising the machining precision, based on the analysis of a geometrical accuracy model. The proposed approach employs different inclinations in distinct layers according to specific manufacturing scenarios and technological requirements. After determining the reference lines, the tool-path segments are selected and grouped based on some characteristics (e.g., the number of intersections between reference lines and boundaries) to make up individual sub-paths, which are then connected to a zigzag-shaped path with short line segment connections. In the module for sub-path linking, some strategies are introduced to decrease the number of useless tool-paths, i.e., uncut paths, which could jeopardize the manufacturing quality by frequently turning the print head on and off. In addition, parametric curves are used to link the final sub-paths to avoid deceleration/acceleration processes in the end/starting parts of the sub-paths. Production plants within manufacturing and process industries are becoming more and more complex systems. For a safe and demand sufficient production the automation system of a production plant is mission critical. Therefore the correct functioning and engineering of the automation system is essential. Nowadays the use of a virtual commissioning step before deploying the automation software on the real production plant is used more often. Within the virtual commissioning the automation software is tested against a virtual plant model, sufficient to check out the correct functioning of the automation system. Usually virtual commissioning is used as a step at the end of the automation engineering, as proposed by VDI 4499. Within this paper an integrated virtual commissioning is proposed, where the automation software is continuously tested against a virtual plant model during the overall engineering phase. The virtual plant is growing together with the automation software and thus enables simulation supported automation engineering. Benefits of the proposed workflow are that errors can be detected immediately after the implementation and the use of the virtual plant model could be extended to various stages of the engineering workflow. © 2014 IEEE.

This paper offers insights into how the bullwhip effect in two parallel supply chains with interacting price-sensitive demands is affected in contrast to the situation of a single product in a serial supply chain. In particular, this research studies two parallel supply chains, each consisting of a manufacturer and a retailer, and the external demand for a single product depends on its price and the other's price in a situation in which each price follows a first-order autoregressive process. In this paper, we propose an analytical framework that incorporates two parallel supply chains, and we explore their interactions to determine the bullwhip effect. We identify the conditions under which the bullwhip effect is amplified or lessened with interacting price-sensitive demands relative to the situation without interaction.

In this paper, the conventional Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (FCMs), which has already achieved success in many fields, are extended by using triangular fuzzy numbers (TFNs). The advantage of FCMs is that they are relatively easy to construct and parameterize and are capable of handling the full range of system feedback structure, including density-dependent effects. However, it is a well-known fact that there are some limitations inherent in FCM, such as lack of adequate capability to handle uncertain information and lack of enough ability to aggregate the information from different sources. Triangular fuzzy numbers which are represented by a triplet has the capacity to represent the uncertain relations between the concepts. In this context, the weight matrix representing the causal relations are enhanced to a fuzzy weight matrix that has TFNs as element. As a result of this improvement, the dynamic reasoning algorithm of the conventional FCM is improved for the use of the proposed novel FCM. The proposed FCM is presented via four simulations and the results are discussed. The results of the simulation study shows how easily the uncertain information can be represented and interpreted by the proposed FCM design methodology.

The effects of signal modality (visual and auditory), hand condition (crossed and uncrossed), and head orientation (upright, right-90, left-90, and left back) on response performance were e xamined in this study. The results showed all the factors significantly affected the reaction time of participants and there was an interaction effect between signal modality and head orientation. Responses for visual signals were significantly faster than those for auditory signals, and responses made with uncrossed hand were superior to those with crossed hand. On head orientation, upright orientation produced the fastest reaction time, while reaction time for head rotated 90° right (right-90) was significantly faster than that for head rotated 90° left (left-90) and rotated left backward (left back). Regarding the significant interaction effect between signal modality and head orientation, processing time for visual signals was always faster than that for auditory signals. Such modality superiority increased to a larger extent under the left 90 and left back head orientations. The findings in this experiment provide some practical ergonomics recommendations for improving control console design in terms of signal-response layout, stimulus-hand arrangement, head orientation, and methods of presenting visual and auditory signals.

This study suggests a moving horizon H8 control scheme for variable speed wind turbines above the rated wind speed to maintain the output power at the rated value for variable operating points. A constrainedH8 control problem is solved at each sampling time with the update of not only the initial condition but also the prediction model based on different operating points. Closed-loop properties inclusive of L2 disturbance attenuation are discussed in the framework of dissipation theory. The moving horizon H8 control considers the non-linear dynamic aspect of the wind turbine, the turbulent nature of the wind and actuator saturations. Analysis and simulation results for WD34 wind turbine show possible improvements on the output electrical power regulation performance for variable operating points, while respecting actuator saturation limits. © The Institution of engineering and Technology 2014.
