With this work, a research contribution in the field of reliability theory has been made, with which a realistic prognosis of reliability parameters of technical systems can be carried out. The motivation to deal with this topic resulted from the realization that the prognosis quality of established prognosis models must be optimized. An early and realistic prognosis of reliability parameters contributes to the success of a concern, mainly through the early implementation of quality measures. The work focuses on the development of a new multivariate prognosis model, which uses multivariate stress parameters as reference variables. Its application enables the prediction of reliability parameters for electronic control units. The predicted reliability parameters can be specified as stress-dependent (bivariate/multivariate) or time-dependent variables. While univariate reference quantities usually use the time dwell time of a technical system, the prognosis model newly presented here can process multivariate reference quantities. During the time in the field, technical systems are not only exposed to different usage behavior, but also to other stresses and influences that make a not inconsiderable contribution to failure. The use of time in the field as a univariate reference variable does not allow for this differentiated consideration and does not take into account relevant information in the reliability analysis. All existing prediction models have in common that only univariate reference parameters can be processed. For a fully comprehensive reliability analysis, all stress variables that lead to a failure must be considered. This is not sufficiently possible with a simple univariate approach. With the new approaches, it is now possible for the first time to consider different stress variables, their changes and their effects on the technical system under investigation in a field data analysis. The theory of the concept lattice is an efficient tool for knowledge representation and knowledge discovery, and is applied to many fields successfully. One focus of knowledge discovery is knowledge reduction. This paper proposes the theory of attribute reduction in the concept lattice, which extends the theory of the concept lattice. In this paper, the judgment theorems of consistent sets are examined, and the discernibility matrix of a formal context is introduced, by which we present an approach to attribute reduction in the concept lattice. The characteristics of three types of attributes are analyzed.

On today's microprocessors, there often exist several different types of registers, e.g. general purpose registers and floating point registers. A given program may use one type of registers much more frequently than other types. This creates an opportunity to employ the infrequently used registers as spill destinations for the more frequently used register types. In this paper, we present a code optimization method named idle register exploitation (IRE) to exploit such opportunities. We developed a model, called the IRE model, or IREM, to determine the static performance gains of IRE versus spilling to the stack. On a microprocessor with fast data paths between different types of registers, we find that IRE method speeds up the execution of the SPECint benchmark suite from 1.7% to 10%. In contrast, on microprocessors with less efficient data transfer paths, the performance gain is limited. In some cases, performance may even suffer degradation. This result argues strongly for the adoption of fast data paths between different types of registers for the purpose of reducing register spills, which is important in view of the increased significance of memory bottlenecks on future microprocessors. Service discovery is critical for mapping logical resource name to physical resources in large-scale distributed systems. The traditional Domain Name system (DNS) deployed on the Internet, however, suffers from slow-down, vulnerability for denial of service attacks, and does not support fast updates. To address these problems, a novel decentralized service discovery approach based on peer-to-peer approach, but DNS and distributed hash tables not quite perfect together. We explore one such transitional scheme integrating legacy DNS into peer-to-peer service network. Our system introduces DNS elements with slight modifications, at the same time inheriting P2P's fault-tolerance and load balance prosperities. The experimental evaluation shows that proposed scheme achieves higher data availability and provides efficient query with lower latency. © 2011 IEEE.

Neuromorphic engineers aim to mimic the precise and efficient mechanisms of the nervous system to process information using spikes from sensors to actuators. There are many available works that sense and process information in a spike-based way. But there are still several gaps in the actuation and motor control field in a spike-based way. Spike-based Proportional-Integrative- Derivative controllers (PID) are present in the literature. On the other hand, neuro-inspired control models as VITE (Vector Integration To End point) and FLETE (Factorization of muscle Length and muscle Tension) are also present in the literature. This paper presents another step toward the spike implementation of those neuro-inspired models. We present a spike-based ramp multiplier. VITE algorithm generates the way to achieve a final position targeted by a mobile robotic arm. The block presented is used as a gate for the way involved and it also puts the incoming movement on speed with a variable slope profile. Only spikes for information representation were used and the process is in real time. The software simulation based on Simulink and Xilinx system Generator shows the accurate adjust to the traditional processing for short time periods and the hardware tests confirm and extend the previous simulated results for any time. We have implemented the spikes generator, the ramp multiplier and the low pass filter into the Virtex-5 FPGA and connected this with an USB-AER (Address Event Representation) board to monitor the spikes. © 2012 IEEE.

To remanufacture automobile systems, it is important to understand the future failure rate of the serially produced systems. In addition, remanufacturing departments need the information about the number of cores to remanufacture, the condition of these cores, as well as the number of replacement systems the market needs. Based on the existing univariate, bivariate and multivariate models a new improved forecasting model is developed, which considers practical factors like export of the vehicle to other countries, damage of the entire vehicle, reporting delay between production and in-market time or between vehicle failure and failure reporting time. This paper presents all necessary tools to achieve the improvement and its implementation in MATLAB. Copyright © 2019 European Safety and Reliability Association.

Analyzing and predicting performance in parallel applications is a great challenge for scientific programmers due to its com- plexity. Analyzing parallel application behavior is not a trivial process and it requires spending a large amount of time and effort to understand the behavior of the application algorithms during execution. We have developed PAS2P toolkit from PAS2P methodology. This methodology strives to characterize the behavior of MPI applications to identify and extract repre- sentative phases and create a signature, which will be used to analyze the application behavior and predict its execution time in different target systems. Applying this methodology is a non-trivial process for users, for this reason we have developed the proposal toolkit, which allows users to make the whole process, from creating a signature to executing it on target systems, in user-space in an easy and fully automatic way. PAS2P toolkit has been validated, making clear the advantages of the signature, with its execution time being much lower than the whole application execution time (around 7% of the total execution time), with a high quality prediction of around 96%.

The software reliability represents one of the most crucial aspects of functional safety. Software is used in almost any electronic systems. When a safety-critical system is considered, it has to be ensured that the software is able to fulfil the minimum safety requirements. If this is not the case, the software will have to be improved until the minimum requirements are fulfilled. Reliability growth models are used to determine the reliability of software. Depending on the area of application one specific model can deliver better prognosis results than another. This paper serves to introduce a methodology, which is provided for the purpose of selecting the most appropriate model.

Nowadays the information of future rates of systems produced in series appears to be crucial to the production plan, especially for remanufacturing departments. Several questions need to be answered: the number of cores to remanufacture the condition of those cores as well as the number of replacement system the market requires. Based on a bivariate prognosis model, a multivariate model is developed to take more variables of stress in field into account. What's more, the fitting process has been optimized by using neural networks. The details of future failures of systems that are serially produced are important for the remanufacturing departments to frame an optimal strategy for the post series supply. The existing one-dimensional and two-dimensional reliability prediction models predict field failures as a function of time based on the stress which the components/systems experience in the field until failure. In day-to-day situations the failure forecasts depend on many external factors like registration delay, which is the delay between the production of a system and its registration in market, reporting delay, which is the delay between the field failure and its reporting time, the export of vehicles to other countries or permanent damage caused to the vehicles. The improvement procedures are integrated into the existing reliability forecast models to reduce the incompleteness of the warranty data due to the influence of external factors using MATLAB. The verification process is to compare the forecasted field failures by the existing models with the actual field failures. The prognosis is carried out based on different failures data sets. With the help of sales data from Original Equipment Manufacturers, the forecasted failures Year to Date are verified.
