Motivation is the driving force to initiate and sustain learner participation in e-Learning environment. Since identifying the extent of motivation is important, this study aims to develop an e-Learning Motivation Index that quantitatively measures motivation concisely and intuitively, capturing the different impact of factors on learner participation. Index development starts with the General Function Establishment. Grounded in the Expectancy-Value Theory and the Self-Regulated Learning Theory, learning motivation is defined as value, cost, cognitive regulation, and scheduling. These act as motivational factors impacting on learner participation, defined in the General Function. Measures for independent and dependent variables are designed to utilize a survey and an experiment on MoodleCloud. After an experiment, analysis using SPSS provides the result that value and scheduling are two factors that significantly impact learner participation. The more learners value learning and have scheduling skills, the more they participate in e-Learning. These results were expressed in a regression function and normalized to derive an e-Learning Motivation Index. This index can assist learners in building learning strategies and educational providers in providing tailored strategies for learners’ characteristics to promote learner participation. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Plant diseases often lead to significant agricultural losses, causing economic difficulties and food shortages. Conventional detection approaches are inefficient, challenging, and must have expert engagement, resulting in decreasing scalability. Recent developments, including machine learning and IoT-integrated systems, have enhanced real-time monitoring;However, they encounter obstacles such as restricted generalization to varied environmental circumstances, data imbalance, and insufficient adaptability to uncharacteristic diseases. This research tackles these issues by introducing an IoT-Enhanced Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) integrated with a One-Class Support Vector Machine (SVM). The model utilizes IoT for real-time data collection, CNN for effective feature extraction, and One-Class SVM for anomaly identification. Experimental results indicate the system's exceptional performance, attaining 95.6% accuracy, a 3.4% lower rate of false positives, and 97.2% precision, offering a scalable, automated solution for early disease detection, minimizing crop losses, and enhancing agricultural sustainability. © 2024 IEEE.

For both new and existing buildings, all variables such as structure of building, damage due to fire from prevention compartments, Time of incidents evacuation routes should be control leverage on people's evacuation routes, controlled, and additional standard fire protection equipment are imposed. This page outlines the classes of diesel fire pumps, batteries, and pumping systems, besides the elements prompting fire rendition. Onsite diesel generator pump must be connected to a hydrant and the water pumping pressure range must be customized to 8 bar using a pressure gauge. The substantive intent of this concert is to reinforce firefighter safety. Only experienced technicians and training professionals in fire guard are responsible for this part. To simulate the battery tightness position, an extra-critical condition has been considered. Owing to the position of the fire safety properties and battery reaction in buildings, the Firefly and Particle Swarm optimization algorithms have been exerted on the iterations with objective values used for analysis in the iterative process using Matlab 2021 software. Two well-known algorithms are compared to see which provides the best results. The ANN serves as a tool for analyzing and optimizing the pump's rendition in maintaining an adequate water supply for fire emergencies. © 2023 IEEE.

A low-fabrication-temperature, high-gain chip-scale waveguide amplifier

The increasing prevalence of integrated on-chip optoelectronic devices has identified serious issues regarding inter-device transmission and coupling losses, highlighting an urgent need for on-chip waveguide amplifiers to compensate for these losses. Compared with other Er-based optical materials, erbium silicate is ideally suited to high-efficiency on-chip amplifiers and lasers because of its extremely high Er3+concentration(1022cm-3). Nevertheless, erbium silicate must be annealed above 1000℃ to crystallize and activate the Er3+, which damages other on-chip optoelectronic components and is not conducive to device ***, we report a low-fabrication-temperature, high-luminescence-efficiency gain material by adding Bi2O3to an erbium-ytterbium silicate mixed film. Our experiments demonstrate that the proposed film crystallizes at 600℃ while the activation of Er3+is also achieved, which is the lowest activation temperature of on-chip waveguide amplifier to our knowledge. This material forms the basis for a new chip-scale waveguide amplifier design, with a theoretical multi-energy-level model of Bi-Er-Yb in the mixed thin films used to analyze its signal enhancement properties. We achieve a peak on-chip gain of 23 dB in a 3.3-mm-long waveguide under the pump and signal powers of 300 mW and 1 μW, respectively. These results highlight the potential of the proposed material for realizing on-chip amplifiers and lasers for large-scale nanophotonic integrated circuits.

Image captioning aims to generate a corresponding description of an *** recent years,neural encoder-decodermodels have been the dominant approaches,in which the Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)and Long Short TermMemory(LSTM)are used to translate an image into a natural language *** these approaches,the visual attention mechanisms are widely used to enable deeper image understanding through fine-grained analysis and even multiple steps of ***,most conventional visual attention mechanisms are based on high-level image features,ignoring the effects of other image features,and giving insufficient consideration to the relative positions between image *** this work,we propose a Position-Aware Transformer model with image-feature attention and position-aware attention mechanisms for the above *** image-feature attention firstly extracts multi-level features by using Feature Pyramid Network(FPN),then utilizes the scaled-dot-product to fuse these features,which enables our model to detect objects of different scales in the image more effectivelywithout increasing *** the position-aware attentionmechanism,the relative positions between image features are obtained at first,afterwards the relative positions are incorporated into the original image features to generate captions more *** are carried out on the MSCOCO dataset and our approach achieves competitive BLEU-4,METEOR,ROUGE-L,CIDEr scores compared with some state-of-the-art approaches,demonstrating the effectiveness of our approach.

The crowd sensing technology can realize the sensing and computing of people,machines,and environment in smart industrial IoT-based coal mine,which provides a solution for safety monitoring through distributed intelligence ***,due to the difficulty of neural network training to achieve global optimality and the fact that traditional LSTM methods do not consider the relationship between adjacent machines,the accuracy of human body position prediction and pressure value prediction is not *** solve these problems,this paper proposes a smart industrial IoT empowered crowd sensing for safety monitoring in coal ***,we propose a Particle Swarm Optimization-Elman Neural Network(PE)algorithm for the mobile human position ***,we propose an ADI-LSTM neural network prediction algorithm for pressure values of machines supports in underground *** them,our proposed PE algorithm has the lowest average cumulative prediction error,and the trajectory fit rate is improved by 24.1%,13.9%and 8.7%compared with Kalman filtering,Elman and Kalman plus Elman algorithms,***,compared with single-input ARIMA,RNN,LSTM,and GRU,the RMSE values of our proposed ADI-LSTM are reduced by 36.6%,52%,32%,and 13.7%,respectively;and the MAPE values are reduced by 0.0003%,0.9482%,1.1844%,and 0.3620%,respectively.

Numerous studies have suggested that the sensorimotor area may play a role in speech decoding due to its involvement in controlling the movement of vocal organs and its close link to speech. However, due to limitations in surface neural recording methods such as EEG and ECoG, it remains uncertain whether deep brain regions are capable of speech decoding. In this study, we utilized two sets of stereo electroencephalography (sEEG) data to investigate how speech is represented in both cortical and subcortical areas when people speak two different languages. The first sEEG dataset involved 10 subjects speaking Dutch, while the second dataset involved 5 subjects speaking Chinese. Consistent with previous studies, specific brain gyrus locations were closely linked to speech. We also discovered that high decoding performance could be achieved in many deep regions when subjects speak two languages. Furthermore, despite the two languages sharing similar articulation representation, they exhibited differences in neural representation, particularly in terms of high and low-frequency differences of audio. The differences of Chinese speakers were greater than those of Dutch speakers. We anticipate that future studies analyzing more data will uncover more precise articulatory representations of cortical and subcortical structures. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Data hiding techniques are one of the most commonly used anti-forensic methods by attackers or perpetrators. There are many data hiding techniques in various kinds of file system in different OS. Alternate data streams (ADS) in NTFS are one such means by which data can be hidden in Windows OS. In this work, ADS will be used to demonstrate how data can be hidden in it, to include different kinds of data files. The same will be implemented using command prompt. Lastly, we compared the data hiding technique using ADS in Windows 10 and 11 Operating System. © 2022 IEEE.

This article presents the experimental findings of a smart irrigation system evaluated in two separate agricultural settings—small-scale farming and large-scale agriculture. The system combines sensors, microcontrollers, and actuators to precisely monitor and regulate the irrigation process in order to optimum water use and crop output. Water savings range from 20 to 45% when using smart irrigation technology in small-scale agriculture. By only turning on the irrigation pump when necessary, the technology optimizes water use and fosters sustainable farming methods. Furthermore, by sustaining perfect growing conditions, the approach boosts crop output, with yield benefits ranging from 10 to 22%. These improvements assist small-scale farmers in becoming more profitable and raising their level of living. In large-scale agriculture, smart irrigation systems allow excellent water management and resource optimization across huge agricultural fields. The technology consistently saves a large quantity of water, often between 25 and 50%, addressing water scarcity issues. Additionally, this method has led to a 12–25% increase in aggregate crop yields, thereby raising farm income and increasing agricultural firm profitability. Experiments shows that this smart irrigation system could bring cost-effective, sustainable techniques to extensive and intensive agriculture alike. Intelligence-guided decision-making technology is applied here, and cutting-edge technologies are brought to bear on the water use problem.
