We study the phase dynamics in power grids in response to small disturbances and how this depends on the grid topology. To this end, we consider the swing equations in linear order in phase disturbances and solve the resulting linear wave equation, deriving the eigenmodes of the weighted graph Laplacian. A linear response expression for the deviation of frequency is given in terms of these eigenvalues and eigenvectors, which it is argued to be the basis for future power system stabilizers and other control measures in power systems. As an example, we present results for random networks based on the Watts-Strogatz model, where we observe a transition to localized eigenstates as the randomness in the degree distribution grows. Moreover, it is found that localization leads to faster decay rates. Thereby, disturbances are found to remain localized on a few nodes where they decay faster. Finally, we also consider the German transmission grid topology, where the eigenstate of the lowest eigenfrequency, the Fiedler vector, is found to be extended, with large intensities at the northwestern and southern boundaries.

Oversampled filter banks (OSFB) can be applied as channel coding and have shown benefits in correlated and impulsive noise. Therefore, in this paper, we consider such channel coders for a power line communications scenario, where such conditions create a hostile channel environment. The proposed channel coder assumes the knowledge of the noise covariance matrix. The transmission is accomplished over the N weakest eigenmodes of the noise, which are identified by means of a broadband eigenvalue decomposition. We demonstrate by simulations that this approach can lead to an enhancement of the SNR in the receiver and to improved performance over standard channel coding approaches.

Electronic meters have become increasingly important for efficient energy use, and the proposed research aims to develop an IoT-based architecture for metering and monitoring. This smart monitoring and control system (SMACS) for home appliances is suggested to enhance household electricity control. The technology uses a wireless control module with an ESP8266 microcontroller and Wi-Fi channel to monitor current consumption and send measured amounts over Wi-Fi. The system calculates current consumption, counts units, and displays results on the user's website and smartphone. It avoids using traditional analog and digital meter reading techniques and allows remote access to electronic meters. The proposed work offers lower total costs, greater energy savings, and reduced time and labour requirements.

We propose a MAC protocol that consists of a channel access mechanism and transmission mechanism to support effective wireless packet data service. In the channel access mechanism, a broadcast channel announces the status information of the random access channel, and the mobile station tries random access based on status information. Also, the mobile station has access probability to prevent collision increase due to the transmission of short messages. For effective transmission, the mobile station changes the transmission rate based on the transmission queue status to adapt the burst traffic characteristics. In restricted environments of transmission code and bandwidth, the proposed protocol shows better performance than the cdma2000 system.

In this paper, image restoration under unknown degradation process (hard to make a mathematical model of the degradation process) will be treated, and a novel approach adopting fractal coding is proposed. The method begins, as a pre-processing, with the construction of a table of range-domain correspondences on a degraded image using known pairs of an original image and its degraded image. In the restoration phase, the fractal structure of an unknown image is, first, estimated from an input image by using the table, and next, a restored image is generated by the decoding process. The fractal decoding procedure is evolved by the concept of the fuzzy vector quantization to diminish the distortion of a decoded image. Features and effectiveness are examined through some simulations.

Motivated by the imperative to enhance the reliability of renewable energy technologies, the study amalgamates the strengths of fuzzy logic, support vector regression, ensemble learning, and evolutionary computation. The model's design addresses the inherent challenges of PV power generation prediction, notably uncertainties and non-linear dynamics. The investigation unfolds in distinct phases, beginning with a meticulous exploration of the significance of precise PV power generation prediction. Acknowledging the limitations of existing methodologies, the research establishes a robust foundation for the development of the Hybrid Ensembled Model. Methodologically, the incorporation of Double-Input-Fuzzy-Modules (DIFM), Extreme Learning Machine (ELM), and evolutionary computation ensures a comprehensive and adaptive framework.
