In this study, a new type of training the adaptive network-based fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) is presented by applying different types of the Differential Evolution branches. The TSK-type consequent part is a linear model of exogenous inputs. The consequent part parameters are learned by a gradient descent algorithm. The antecedent fuzzy sets are learned by basic differential evolution (DE/rand/1/bin) and then with some modifications in it. This method is applied to identification of the nonlinear dynamic system, prediction of the chaotic signal under both noise-free and noisy conditions and simulation of the two-dimensional function. Instead of DE/rand/1/bin, this paper suggests the complex type (DE/current-to-best/1+1/bin & DE/rand/1/bin) on predicting of Mackey-glass time series and identification of a nonlinear dynamic system revealing the efficiency of proposed structure. Finally, the method is compared with pure ANFIS to show the efficiency of this method.

In this paper, the computation of robustness margin for linear time invariant fractional order systems is studied. For the definition of robustness margin, we employ the one introduced for polynomials (i.e. integer order) and extend it to fractional order functions. Using the well known concept of the value set and knowing its shape for the intended functions, this paper presents an easy way to obtain the robustness margin for fractional order systems. In the welding process, droplet detachment regularity is important for a good welding quality. The frequency of detachment is one of influential indices for assessing the quality of GMAW in the globular transfer mode. In this paper, a relationship is estimated for measuring droplet detachment frequency in the globular GMAW. The droplet detachment frequency is estimated with a curve fitting by the least squares error (LSE) method. By using short time frequency transform (STFT) we can extract the frequency contents from the mass of drop that is one of the states in the welding model.

This paper proposes a method for understanding the fuzzy linguistic information based on the user's guidance. A quantitative assessment for a fuzzy linguistic term such as “little” depends on the environmental conditions. Therefore the corrective feedbacks are utilized to adapt the robot's perception toward the corresponding environment. However, the attentive commands like “move carefully” are used to modify the evaluation process of the fuzzy linguistic information according to the user's desire. The primitive behaviors are evaluated by a behavior evaluation network (BEN) and a feedback evaluation system (FES) is utilized to evaluate the corrective feedbacks. An attention level controller is introduced to change the attention level based on the attentive commands. The system is adapted toward the user's perception on the fuzzy linguistic information based on the corrective feedbacks in the adaptation phase. Then the attentive commands are used to modify the evaluation process according to the local requirements. The proposed system is demonstrated by using a PA-10 robot manipulator and a situation of cooperative rearrangement of user's working space is considered. The adaptation of the system toward the environmental conditions by the corrective feedbacks and the capability to use the attentive feedbacks to modify the system during the work, improve the effectiveness of the system.

In this paper, by employing thermal characteristic modeling to the main components of the vehicle model for example, engine, transmission and battery, we examine the heat energy management and fuel consumption of the testing drive patterns especially during warming up process. The simulation data agree well with measurement data. Our vehicle simulation results provide VHDL-AMS validity for multi-domain energy management and the vehicle system planning.

Parkinson's disease is a common disease of central nervous system among the elderly, and its complex symptoms bring some difficulties for the clinical diagnosis. In this study, a new method based on free spiral drawing was proposed to for quantitative evaluation of hand movement of patients with Parkinson's disease. According to the characteristics of hand movement in free spiral drawing, a set of parameters were defined and calculated. Experimental results showed that this method of evaluation was consistent with the clinical diagnosis. The proposed method based on free spiral drawing is effective in clinical diagnosis, and it provides a basis for quantitative evaluating the effectiveness of surgery and treatment.
