Contra-rotating rotors have the advantage of compactness and redundancy, which can be observed in many unmanned aerial vehicles. One significant installation parameter for the contra-rotating rotors is the axial distance between the upper and lower rotors, which influences both the time-averaged and unsteady loading of the rotors, as well as the aeroacoustic noise emission. Through experimental methods, each rotor is mounted to a six-component balance to study the impact of the axial distance on the two rotors, and an microphone arc-array is used to study the noise emission and directivity in an anechoic chamber. Two rotors are set at the same rotational speed for all axial distance settings. The results indicate that the increase of axial distance is advantageous for the aerodynamic performance increase and noise reduction, especially in the axial range of 0.1 diameter. The recovery of aerodynamic performance is due to the fully developed slipstream which reduces the mutual influence between the two rotors. The noise reduction is mainly due to the reduced velocity fluctuation alleviates the inter actiontonal noise, although the broadband noise becomes larger as the axial distance increases. © 2023, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. Generating graphs using computational models is a critical activity with numerous applications, including social network research and biological network modeling. Despite sig-nificant breakthroughs in graph-generating technologies, modern machine learning for simulating complex real-world networks still requires effective improvement. Specifically, the ability to conditionally generate graphs while accounting for local and global structural elements has not been fully explored. This study presents a novel approach to graph generation that combines Transformer encoders' strong contextual understanding with Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) decoders' sequence modeling capabilities, all within a Conditional Variational Auto Encoder (CVAE) framework. Our methodology aims to fine-tune the structural features of generated graphs more accurately, representing an advancement in conditional graph generation. Our results, based on extensive tests versus standard generative models utilizing graph datasets, show that our model can more clearly tune global-level structural features' values better than conventional models.

The industrial world is shifting from mass production to meeting individual needs, requiring guidelines to incorporate emotions and preferences. Traditional questionnaires fall short in capturing detailed real-time emotion changes. Therefore, we propose a novel approach using Electroencephalography(EEG), which reflects central nervous system activity, and heart rate variability(HRV), which reflects autonomic nervous system activity, to estimate emotions in real-time by analyzing arousal and valence. Based on the 2D Arousal-Valence model, we plot EEG and HRV data onto this model to visualize emotion changes caused by external stimuli. Using this proposed method, we conducted joint research with the home and personal care sector to evaluate emotional responses to aroma products, and with the automotive sector to assess drivers' emotional states. These studies demonstrate the value of academic research in guiding the industrial sector, particularly through emotion estimation based on EEG and HRV. Our findings suggest that these technologies offer valuable insights into consumer emotions, which can help improve product design and user experience. Ongoing collaboration between academia and the industrial sector is crucial for overcoming challenges in interpreting physiological signals and effectively integrating these methods into practice.

Traffic congestion in the transportation networks, which increases vehicle travel times, energy consumption, and environmental pollution, is one of the major social problems occurring in most urban areas. One of the ways to reduce traffic congestion is to use effective routing methods to guide vehicles to their destinations that avoid or reduce traffic congestion. However, routing for vehicles, especially in urban areas, is difficult due to the dynamic and unpredictable nature of the transportation networks. To deal with these characteristics, the use of connected vehicles, which successfully obtain real-time data by using Internet communication, is attracting as the vehicles in the transportation networks. The ability to communicate over the Internet allows connected vehicles to communicate with other connected vehicles and infrastructure to monitor road congestion. In this work, we propose a routing method using chaotic neurodynamics for the transportation networks in which connected vehicle move and evaluate its effectiveness. In addition, we use Simulation of Urban MObility (SUMO) traffic simulator to construct realistic traffic environments. Numerical experiments using SUMO show that the routing method using chaotic neuro-dynamics shows effective routing performance compared to other routing methods in both the number of arriving vehicles and the average travel time.

This study used a water-soluble inclusion complex, fullerene/ß-cyclodextrins(C60/ß-CDs), as additive abrasive with conventional SiO2 slurry for the chemical mechanical polishing/planarization(CMP) of the silicon carbide substrate wafer. The hydrodynamic size(dH) of C60/ß-CDs suspension was measured by the dynamic light scattering(DLS) method;the appearance of a C60/ß-CDs inclusion complex is observed by TEM. The C60/ßCDs hybrid SiO2-based slurry performed a higher removal rate than conventional SiO2 slurry, and the polished surface showed a lower depression and roughness, too. © 2021 The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers.

In recent years, there has been a growing demand for techniques to artificially generate graphs. Various proposals have been made for graph generation models using machine learning. Among these models, GraphTune is a model that allows to specify the features of the generated graphs. GraphTune has not achieved sufficient accuracy when specified values are in ranges where there are few samples in the training dataset. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a method to improve the accuracy of GraphTune by retraining it using graphs generated by the model itself. Through experiments using real-world graphs, we demonstrate that the higher accuracy can be achieved compared to the conventional method.

Aerial photographs of buildings are often used as memorabilia sold by trading companies. Such photographs come with an issue regarding the address of the shown buildings, since the recording location of the camera may be known, but shows a spatial distance to the actual subject of the image. In addition to that, also this recording location is often not known in detail but only roughly in the form of the flight route/area. To address this problem, a methodology for reverse geocoding is proposed, allowing to identify the position of buildings that are photographed from aerial vehicles. This is done using a process for extending recording locations and a second process based on the registration of invariant features within aerial shots compared to maps. © 2022 University of West Bohemia. Adiabatic quantum-flux-parametron (AQFP) logic is a promising technology for future energy-efficient, high-performance information processing systems. It has significantly low power consumption thanks to the adiabatic switching of Josephson junctions. In this paper, we proposed an AQFP-based Kogge-Stone adder (KSA) to achieve low energy consumption. Moreover, we proposed an offset buffer based XOR macro to improve the hardware overhead. The proposed work achieves a 21% and 6% reduction in total Josephson junction count and circuit area, respectively. © 2022 IEEE.
