The health of the lungs is significant importance to human well-being. As a vital respiratory organ, lung diseases have a high incidence and mortality rate worldwide. Accurate segmentation of the lung airways, including the trachea and bronchi, is crucial for the diagnosis of lung diseases. The recent coronavirus has further shown the importance of accurately distinguishing the lung airways from the lung parenchyma to assist in diagnosis. Therefore, developing an automated segmentation method that can accurately segment the lung airways from lung CT images is essential. Despite extensive research in this field, challenges remain. The unique tree-like structure of the lung airways and the fine-grained details at the terminal bronchioles pose difficulties for achieving precise segmentation using existing methods. In this study, we propose a novel dual-encoder network for accurate lung airways segmentation. Our method can efficient capture the local and global features using the combination of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Transformer network. We evaluate our method on a lung CT dataset provided by Shandong University and demonstrate its superiority over existing methods.

Robust Finite-Time Containment of Networked Heterogeneous Nonlinear systems with Intermittent Measurement Only

The robust finite-time containment problem of fully heterogeneous multiagent systems with uncertainties is often challenging, especially when only intermittent output measurement is used. To address the issue posed by the nonidentical system dynamics of multiple leaders, which makes the traditional distributed estimator form for the convex hull inapplicable, a distributed finite-time estimator is constructed for each follower to extract the system matrices and states of leaders. Then, in the output-triggering setting, a finite-time extended state observer driven by intermittent output measurement is developed to reconstruct the uncertainties and unmeasurable states of followers. Meanwhile, the non-continuous output measurement will lead to the differentiation of virtual control laws undefined. To solve this issue, a filtering compensation scheme-based finitetime controller via the backstepping technique is developed for nonlinear followers, ensuring practical finite-time stability (PFTS) of the closed-loop system. It is shown that the proposed algorithm steers each follower into the preset convex combination spanned by the positions of multiple leaders. The capability of the exploited control protocol is verified through simulations and experiments. 2013 IEEE.

Lu/Se Substitution Effect on Magnetic Properties of Yb-Based Zigzag Chain Semiconductor YbCuS2

We have investigated the changes in the magnetic properties on YbCuS2 by Lu or Se substitutions from a microscopic perspective. In general, it is expected that nonmagnetic Lu substitution dilutes the magnetic Yb3+ concentration, and that Se substitution induces the negative pressure in YbCuS2. The 63/65Cu-nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) measurements on polycrystalline Yb0.9Lu0.1CuS2 and YbCu(S0.9Se0.1)2 revealed that the Se substitution leads to larger lattice expansion compared to the Lu substitution. The antiferromagnetic transition temperature TN decreased from 0.95 K in the unsubstituted system to 0.75 K in both substituted systems. Furthermore, the T-linear behavior of the 63Cu-NQR spin-lattice relaxation rate 1/T1, suggesting the presence of the gapless quasiparticle excitations, was observed even in the substituted systems, and the value of 1/T1T increases. These results under the chemical substitutions are opposite to those under pressure as previously reported, and are consistent with the expectation. Our systematic study indicates a clear relationship between the magnetic ordered states and the quasiparticle excitations in YbCuS2. © 2024, CC BY.

The study of symmetry-protected topological phases of matter has been extended from fermionic electron systems to various bosonic systems. Bosonic topological magnon phases in magnetic materials have received much attention because of their exotic uncharged topologically protected boundary modes and the potential for dissipationless magnonics and spintronic applications. Here, we establish twisted bilayer honeycomb magnets as a platform for hosting second-order topological magnon insulators (SOTMIs) without fine-tuning. We employ a simple, minimal Heisenberg spin model to describe misaligned bilayer sheets of honeycomb ferromagnetic magnets with a large commensurate twist angle. We found that the higher-order topology in this bilayer system shows a significant dependence on the interlayer exchange coupling. The SOTMI, featuring topologically protected magnon corner states that go beyond the conventional bulk-boundary correspondence, appears for ferromagnetic interlayer couplings, while the twisted bilayer exhibits a nodal phase in the case of antiferromagnetic interlayer coupling. At last, relevance to twisted bilayer CrI3 is also discussed.

Train platooning, which allows multiple train units to be virtually coupled into a platoon with very short following distances, has become an emerging technology in railway industry. Our study investigates the energy-efficient operation of train platoons to reduce the energy consumption of trains while satisfying time-varying passenger demands in practice. We develop a mixed integer programming (MIP) model to optimize the timetable, running speed and coupling strategies of trains. Considering that the small-size train platoons consume much less energy but can serve fewer passengers, our model involves bi-objectives, i.e., to minimize the passenger waiting time and to minimize the overall energy consumption of trains. We also construct a series of model constraints to limit the movement of trains as well as the time-dependent flows of passengers, since a part of passengers during the peak period may have to wait for a longer time due to the capacity limitation of different sizes of trains. Finally, we conduct real-world case studies on the Beijing subway Yizhuang line to verify the effectiveness of our approach. The results indicate that the energy-efficient operation of train platoons can achieve a better trade-off between service quality and system energy consumption. © 2024 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

In this paper, we propose a design method for a new event-trigger-based variable gain robust controller which achieves both consensus and guaranteed cost performance for a class of uncertain multi-agent systems (MASs) with the leader-follower structure. The proposed variable gain robust controller is composed of stabilizing state feedback laws, state feedback inputs for consensus, and compensation inputs with adjustable parameters, and is designed for giving consideration to relative positions explicitly. In this paper, we show that sufficient conditions for the existence of the proposed robust guaranteed cost formation controller are given in terms of Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs). Finally, a simple example is included.

In recent years, the regenerative treatment of osteoarthritis (OA) by transplantation of autologous cultured cartilage has been developed, but biomechanical diagnostic evaluation of cartilage has not yet been performed in the follow-up after transplantation as well as typical OA diagnostic treatment. In this study, we constructed an Optical Coherence Doppler Velocigraphy (OCDV) system based on low coherence interferometer (OCT) and a compression tester as loadingdevice, which can provide micro-tomographic visualization of tissue deformation and joint fluid flow inside cartilage tissue. The constructed system was applied to not only the normal sample of porcine knee cartilage but also the simulated degenerative one by collagenase enzyme treatment for 2 hours. As experimental results, duringcompression period, the both cartilage samples in the middle layer were observed to move toward surface, generating the compressive strain further in superficial layer. Doppler velocity of the degenerated cartilage was detected to be about 50 μmsec in the middle layer, which was twice as high as that of normal cartilage. Just after stress relaxation, Doppler velocity decreased immediately to be less than 5 μmsec in the normal cartilage, whereas are keeping about 10 μmsec in the degenerated one. These are considered to be due to the decrease in biomechanical properties, i. e. visco-elasticity, of degenerated cartilage. In conclusions, the proposed method can discriminate quantitatively between normal and OA cartilage from the spatiotemporal change of the detected Doppler velocity, in the virtue of revealing microscopic tissue deformation and joint fluid flow with high spatio-temporal resolution, therefore OCDV has an effective potential as a real-time diagnostic imaging system. © 2021, Japan Soc. of Med. We aim to develop a cyber-physical system, which orchestrates various factors related to disaster damage. Conventional simulations on disaster damage (river flooding, road flooding, for example) have been developed as proprietary systems, and it has been difficult to analyze damage in light of their interaction. This includes real-time estimation of flood damage using observational data, evacuation behavior, and the impact of flood damage on communication infrastructure. The framework enables progressive simulations that emphasize interaction by simultaneously working with simulators and systems on multiple factors. Therefore, it is expected that urban flooding, victims, and communication failures can be simulated in an integrated manner to analyze the damage that a city would suffer from a disaster. This paper develops a data exchange function with network access among the features this framework should have, and investigates whether such a progressive simulation is feasible. We apply this data exchange function to simulators and systems related to flood evacuation. We orchestrate different simulators and systems, such as flood analysis simulators, evacuation simulators, and information services, then develop a prototype using data from an actual flooded area.

Mobile robots have been widely used in military and other fields. By observing the path of the mobile robot, it is easy to infer the destination of its path. However, in some special situations, the user of the mobile robot does not want to reveal its purpose information, such as carrying out military attacks, sneak reconnaissance missions, etc. In order to protect the mobile robot's path information from being leaked, we combine the reinforcement learning path planning method to propose a computationally efficient deceptive reinforcement learning mobile robot path planning method. The path planned by this method balances the path cost and the target deception weight, making it difficult for observers observing the mobile robot path to predict the real target of the mobile robot, while ensuring a lower path cost for the mobile robot. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
