To reveal the performance of mechanical seal with herringbone spiral groove, a CFD model was established. Effects of structural parameters on the mechanical seal performance were analyzed, such as groove number and spiral angle. Then, these structural parameters were optimized by liquid membrane opening force and drainage volume. The results show liquid metal flows into the miter groove from both ends under the action of viscous force, a bearing area is formed when the liquid metal reaches the top, and there is a pressure peak in the bearing area.

Research on grasping force optimization of dexterous robot hand is an important topic in manipulation planning, it is an effective way to improve the grasping precision and save energy. Based on the force manipulability ellipsoid of manipulator, this paper defines force directional manipulability of multi-fingered dexterous hand. On the condition that the operational configuration is known, and taking the force directional manipulability as the objective function, the optimization on force transmission direction of dexterous hand is presented. A numerical example of three-finger dexterous hand is presented that the force transmission performance and the best transmission direction of dexterous hand on a given configuration are obtained.

In order to enhance automobiles' steering performance, four-wheel steering system was researched in this paper. Firstly, mathematical model of four-wheel steering was built and then transfer function was deduced. On this basis, the simulation model of four-wheel steering was built through Matlab/Simulink. Furthermore, simulated annealing PID algorithm was designed for four-wheel steering system. Finally, simulation experiments were carried out, whose results indicated that simulated annealing PID algorithm could enhance the performance of four-wheel steering system in the working conditions at both low and high speed.
