This study presents experimental results showing that weak, extremely low frequency electromagnetic (EM) fields influence the growth rates of HT-1080 fibrosarcoma cells in vitro and offers a theoretical explanation for these effects. The results demonstrate that weak magnetic fields both increase and decrease the growth rates of fibrosarcoma cells by altering the mitochondrial superoxide (O2-) and calcium ions (Ca2+) concentrations in living cells. Over a 4-day exposure period, fibrosarcoma growth rates were modulated in the presence of low-level alternating current (AC) magnetic fields at a 10 μT amplitude at 13.5 Hz to 30 Hz frequency, superimposed on a 45 μT static background field. Effects due to changes in amplitude from 10 to 30 μT at selected frequencies are also investigated with the same superimposed static field. © 2025 USNC-URSI.

Soft actuators have many advantages, such as flexibility and safe interaction with the environment. Despite these advantages, they still lack the stiffness to carry the high load. The layer jamming mechanism can be applied to the actuator to increase stiffness, and a vacuum can control the stiffness of the mechanism. However, the typical jamming mechanism has a risk of air leakage, and vacuums are bulky to some systems. In order to solve this problem, we have developed a novel mechanical layer jamming for the cable-driven soft actuator in this paper. Our design uses the actuator body to generate the compression force to the layer at the middle of the actuator's body to increase the actuator's stiffness. The result shows the effectiveness of our mechanical layer jamming in increasing the stiffness of the actuator when adding the load to the tip of the actuator. In addition, we have applied our actuator to the soft gripper system, which successfully grasped various objects and changed the stiffness of the actuator. © 2025 IEEE.

In recent years, deep learning has significantly reshaped numerous fields and applications, fundamentally altering how we tackle a variety of challenges. Areas such as natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, healthcare, network security, wide-area surveillance, and precision agriculture have leveraged the merits of the deep learning era. Particularly, deep learning has significantly improved the analysis of remote sensing images, with a continuous increase in the number of researchers and contributions to the field. The high impact of deep learning development is complemented by rapid advancements and the availability of data from a variety of sensors, including high-resolution RGB, thermal, LiDAR, and multi-/hyperspectral cameras, as well as emerging sensing platforms such as satellites and aerial vehicles that can be captured by multi-temporal, multi-sensor, and sensing devices with a wider view. This study aims to present an extensive survey that encapsulates widely used deep learning strategies for tackling image classification challenges in remote sensing. It encompasses an exploration of remote sensing imaging platforms, sensor varieties, practical applications, and prospective developments in the field. © The Author(s) 2024.

The contribution of energy efficiency covers a wide range of interests. Energy efficiency affects climate change mitigation goals, energy saving, health benefits, and productivity. The quick expansion of data traffic and connection has caused the telecommunications industry's energy usage to increase significantly. It operated with equipment that is already energy efficient and it will be try to explain the additional energy saving. It will be shows a methodology that uses several parameters that can be varied in order to achieve the desired high-power transmitter efficiency. The result of the work is the saving of energy and resources through the use of tools that keep components of telecommunication systems in the optimal mode of operation using intelligent application. This application uses an intelligent algorithm that allows us to save approximately 20MW per year. © 2024 IEEE.

Ladle monitoring systems are essential for optimizing steel melting operations. They improve material and equipment flow, reduce wait times, increase overall production, enable quick problem response, and ensure steel quality. Traditional ladle tracking methods utilizing sensors require a wide frequency band for data transmission. However, sensor technology has limitations such as high cost, limited range, signal interference, poor integration, wear, and tear. Thus, an additional layer of security is needed. To address these issues, a proposed solution suggests implementing a machine vision system for ladle tracking and management in steel factories. This vision-based system uses a live video captured by a camera as input to detect the ladle. The template matching algorithm is employed to compare the ladle template with the image's covered window, allowing the system to identify the ladle's ID and the zone where it is located. Various techniques for template matching are compared, and the most suitable one for the application is selected based on the results. The matched templates are stored in a database using Python SQLite3. The ladle tracking positions can be accessed through a web application, which also provides the capability to track individual ladles. The results demonstrate that implementing a vision-based tracking system for ladles in steel factories offers optimal outcomes with minimal hardware expenses. © 2023 IEEE.

Object detection in images and videos is a vital task in computer vision where its application goes beyond the automobile driving and surveillance, to healthcare. The paper introduces an object detection model which is specific and powerful, that is able to recognize visually with machine learning. The framework is constructed on the basis of the recent innovations in deep learning and attentive mechanisms, which not only lead to the best performance in object detection today but also guarantee the widest applicability. Using an extensive experiment which reveals the described model superiority over the current state-of-the-art algorithms by evaluating mAP indices, whereas the latter has a normal complexity. The ablation study uncovers the impact of core parameters including attention mechanisms and semi-supervised techniques, underlining their importance in the growth of detection precision. Moreover, the illustrative comparison of outcomes from detecting objects on the framework calls for attention to the capacity of the networks to objectify in different categories. Our outcome also suggest that although the proposed framework has a human-level performance in task of object detection there is still a scope to enhance their performance above the human level. Summarizing, this work concludes the conversation and can be considered in the progress of research developments of the object detection systems aimed at practical object meeting situations. © 2024 IEEE.

Precision agriculture, driven by advancements in technology, aims to optimize farming practices by utilizing data and technology to enhance efficiency, productivity, and sustainability This research introduces an innovative pilot investigation centered on the convergence of two revolutionary technologies are the Internet of Things (IoT) and Deep Learning. With a specific focus on advancing precision agriculture, the primary objective of this study is to evaluate the combined effects of data collection facilitated by IoT and analytical capabilities of deep learning in enhancing and optimizing various agricultural processes. In the study, three leading reinforcement learning algorithms Deep Q-Network (DQN), Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) and Asynchronous Advantage Actor - Critic (A3Cc are applied in a number of real-world robotics tasks. The focus of our analysis is on performance indicators, computational efficiencies across multiple environments as well with respect to customer satisfaction rating. The DQN demonstrated good performance, with the success rate of up to 85% in object manipulation tasks and confirmed its reliability under controlled lab conditions where it made only a 5 percent error. PPO excelled in autonomous navigation (82%) and was the most energy-efficient option, requiring just 10 hours for training and using only twelve KWH of power. Compared with A3C, the method performed to a higher level of adaptability and robustness, especially in object manipulation (90% success rate) and dynamic environments (10% error rates applicable for outdoor variable weather conditions). But A3C was also the most automatable, which required 15 hours to train and consumed an astonishing amount of electricity - 18 kWh. Regarding customer satisfaction, PPO performs the best in end-user rating on user interface;A3C shows a preference with engineers due to its advanced features and flexibility. The focus of this study is significant trade-offs between performance, efficiency and user preference in real robotics applications that advocate for individual tailoring selections as well as deployments based on task specifics nature. © 2024 IEEE.

Given n elements, an integer k ≤ n/2 and a parameter Ε ≥ 1/n , we study the problem of selecting an element with rank in (k − nΕ, k + nΕ] using unreliable comparisons where the outcome of each comparison is incorrect independently with a constant error probability, and multiple comparisons between the same pair of elements are independent. In this fault model, the fundamental problems of finding the minimum, selecting the k-th smallest element and sorting have been shown to require Θ(n log 1/Q), Θ(n log k/Q) and Θ(n log n/Q) comparisons, respectively, to achieve success probability 1 − Q [9]. Considering the increasing complexity of modern computing, it is of great interest to develop approximation algorithms that enable a trade-off between the solution quality and the number of comparisons. In particular, approximation algorithms would even be able to attain a sublinear number of comparisons. Very recently, Leucci and Liu [23] proved that the approximate minimum selection problem, which covers the case that k ≤ nΕ, requires expected Θ(Ε−1 log 1/Q) comparisons, but the general case, i.e., for nΕ −2 log 1/Q) comparisons to achieve success probability at least 1 − Q. For k = nΕ, the number of comparisons is O(Ε−1 log 1/Q), matching Leucci and Liu’s result [23], whereas for k = n/2 (i.e., approximating the median), the number of comparisons is O(Ε−2 log 1/Q). We also prove that even in the absence of comparison faults, any randomized algorithm with success probability at least 1 − Q performs expected Ω(min{n, k/n Ε−2 log 1/Q }) comparisons. As long as n is large enough, i.e., when n = Ω(k/n Ε−2 log 1/Q), our lower bound demonstrates the optimality of our algorithm, which covers the possible range of attaining a sublinear number of comparisons. Surprisingly, for constant Q, our algorithm performs expected O(k/n Ε−2) comparisons, matching the best possible approximation algorithm in the absence of computation faults.
