Language acquisition is an integral part of early schooling, but young English language learners struggle to learn vocabulary and syntax since they are not provided with specialized instruction. Conventional teaching may vary according to different learning speeds and it leads to unbalanced levels of proficiency among students and possibly leading to disengagement among slow learners. The present computer-assisted learning aids provide practice interactively but without real-time adaptation and personalized feedback, limiting their capacity to address learners’ unique problems. To overcome these constraints, this study suggests an Artificial Intelligence based personalized learning system that supports vocabulary and syntax learning via adaptive learning models, NLP-based chatbots and gamified interactive lessons. The system dynamically adapts content according to students’ most recent performance in real time to enable a personalized learning experience, which results in efficient Learning. The research has experimental study design, and two groups are considered, an AI-supported learning group and a traditional learning group. Pre-test and post-test design measures the effects of the system on vocabulary recall and syntax correctness. Other learner engagement rates like survey results and qualitative feedback inform learner experience and learning efficacy. Initial results indicate that learners working with the Artificial Intelligence powered learning system gained 25percent in recalling vocabulary and 30percent in syntax accuracy over the control group. Further, learner engagement rates are elevated because of real-time feedback and gamification components. These results emphasize the promise of AI-based personalized learning to boost language acquisition and lay the basis for further effective innovations in adaptive education technologies. © (2025), (Science and Information Organization). The rapid but uneven education development worldwide is creating many challenges. Changing conditions and rules in engineering fields such as programming, automation, and electronics are not always followed by changes in education. Employers expect potential candidates to be current with the latest domain competencies and soft skills. The idea is to hire candidates with both knowledge (theoretical and practical) and experience in reflection and collaboration skills. Universities can not always keep up with the development of technology and the adaptation of curricula because change happens so quickly. Therefore, upgrades are needed in engineering education. Focusing education solely on measurable knowledge and results is a simple but often insufficient approach to presenting the entire curriculum within the time frame of a course. Our study of about 150 engineering students in Poland and Norway included the role of students' experiences in hands-on activities, especially labs. The research aimed to determine what students expect, what influences their results, and what complications may arise. The study results show that students often struggle with time management, prioritizing, and understanding practical tasks. In addition, there is a difference between students with and without practical work experience. Our research showed that both groups of students did not achieve all their intended educational goals for various reasons. Therefore, adapting the current teaching system to the student's needs and requirements is important. © 2023 IEEE.

Building an abstract syntax tree is an integral part of compilers. We analyze a few of the popular techniques providing such analysis in the web environment. Based on the analysis of these solutions, we deal with the implementation of our parser solution, which also provides a graphical representation of abstract syntax trees as well as proof trees. This solution is then used in our application designed to interpret the expressions of the simple teaching functional language of natural numbers and boolean values. In addition, the application supports the evaluation (semantics) of expressions (step by step), and also their individual properties: the depth of the syntax tree, syntax tree nodes count, and the constants used in the expression. © 2022 IEEE.

Optimized Image Dehazing using Dark Channel Prior with Minimum Fusion and Improved Atmospheric Light Handling

Haze-induced image degradation in outdoor scenes, caused by atmospheric scattering and absorption, poses significant challenges for applications such as surveillance, autonomous navigation, and remote sensing. This research focuses on improving image dehazing by enhancing two key components: Dark Channel Prior (DCP) and Atmospheric Light Estimation (ALE). DCP exploits the statistical property that haze-free regions exhibit low minimum intensity values, aiding in accurate haze detection. ALE estimates atmospheric light from distant, less-scattered sources, ensuring precise haze removal. To further enhance dehazing performance, this study introduces a Minimum Fusion Technique, which selects the minimum intensity value for each pixel across multiple dehazed outputs, effectively preserving fine details and reducing artifacts. The proposed method is evaluated on the SOTS Outdoor dataset from the RESIDE benchmark, comprising 500 pairs of real-world hazy and clear images. By integrating optimized DCP, ALE, and the Minimum Fusion Technique, the approach achieves superior performance with a PSNR of 35.45 dB and an SSIM of 0.97, outperforming existing methods such as Scene-Specific DCP, TON, and FFA_NET. Additionally, it demonstrates reduced execution time and enhanced visual quality, making it a more efficient and reliable solution for real-world dehazing applications. These improvements establish the proposed method as a state-of-the-art approach for restoring clarity in outdoor images, contributing to more effective and accurate image reconstruction in challenging environments. © 2013 IEEE.

Millimeter-wave (mm-wave) and terahertz (THz) communication systems can satisfy the high data rate requirements in 5G, 6G, and beyond networks, but still rely on the use of extensive antenna arrays to guarantee sufficient received signal strength. Many antennas incur high beam training overhead;thus, the narrow beams require adjustment to support highly mobile applications. Deep learning (DL) vision-aided solutions can potentially forecast the optimal beams, leveraging raw RGB images captured at the base station. Image filtering techniques have been widely used in computer vision (CV) to modify and enhance the quality of an image, based on specific rules. This work applies different filters to RGB images for accurate mm-wave/THz beam prediction and feature extraction based on pre-trained convolutional neural networks (CNNs). The assessment of the developed framework is conducted on an actual dataset captured by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operating in the millimeter-wave (mm-wave) frequency range. The dataset comprises RGB images taken at the base station. Ensemble filtering techniques are also studied, enhancing the beam prediction accuracy of two state-of-the-art (SOTA) DL models. © 2023 IEEE.

Bike-sharing systems (BSSs) have become commonplace in most cities worldwide as an important part of many smart cities. These systems generate a continuous amount of large data volumes. The effectiveness of these BSS systems depends on making decisions at the proper time. Thus, there is a vital need to build predictive models on the BSS data for the sake of improving the process of decision-making. The overwhelming majority of BSS users register before utilizing the service. Thus, several BSSs have prior knowledge of the user’s data, such as age, gender, and other relevant details. Several machine learning and deep learning models, for instance, are used to predict urban flows, trip duration, and other factors. The standard practice for these models is to train on the entire dataset to build a predictive model, whereas the biking patterns of various users are intuitively distinct. For instance, the user’s age influences the duration of a trip. This endeavor was motivated by the existence of distinct user patterns. In this work, we proposed divide-and-train, a new method for training predictive models on station-based BSS datasets by dividing the original datasets on the values of a given dataset attribute. Then, the proposed method was validated on different machine learning and deep learning models. All employed models were trained on both the complete and split datasets. The enhancements made to the evaluation metric were then reported. Results demonstrated that the proposed method outperformed the conventional training approach. Specifically, the root mean squared error (RMSE) and mean absolute error (MAE) metrics have shown improvements in both trip duration and distance prediction, with an average accuracy of 85% across the divided sub-datasets for the best performing model, i.e., random forest. © 2024 the Author(s).

The detection of cyberattacks has been increasingly emphasized in recent years, focusing on both infrastructure and people. Conventional security measures such as intrusion detection, firewalls, and encryption are insufficient in protecting cyber systems against growing and changing threats. In order to address this problem, scholars have explored reinforcement learning (i.e., RL) as a potential solution for intricate cybersecurity decision-making difficulties. Nevertheless, the use of RL faces several obstacles, including dynamic attack scenarios, insufficient training data, and the challenge of replicating real-world complexities. This study presents a novel framework that uses deep reinforcement learning (i.e., DRL) to simulate harmful cyberattacks and improve cybersecurity. This study presents an agent-based framework that is capable of ongoing learning and adaptation in a dynamic network security environment. The agent determines the optimal course of action by considering the current state of the network and the rewards it receives for its decisions. The CIC-IDS-2018 database, constructed using Python 3.7 programming, was used. The conducted studies yielded outstanding results, with a detection accuracy of 98.82% achieved for the CIC-IDS-2018 database in cyber-attack classification. © 2025 by the authors of this article. This paper presents a novel hybrid cross-band radio frequency (RF)-optical system that utilizes coherent RF detection with $M$ -QAM modulation and optical intensity modulation and direct detection (IM/DD) to fully utilize the diversity gains of cross-band architectures. By performing joint signal processing in the RF and optical domains, the proposed system achieves significant improvements in reliability, spectral efficiency, and data rates compared to conventional approaches. A key feature of the system is an optimized linear mapping between the RF and optical signals, which ensures seamless signal integration and improved performance. To evaluate the system, we derive the theoretical mutual information (MI) and a tight closed-form approximation for the symbol error probability (SEP) of the proposed modulation scheme. Numerical results validate the theoretical analysis and show that the proposed scheme significantly outperforms state-of-the-art cross-band modulations in terms of MI and SEP. The proposed scheme, with its low-complexity design and superior performance, is a promising candidate for next-generation wireless networks.

Detection and prediction of failures in Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) are essential for the uninterrupted operation of production plants. Anomaly detection is usually achieved by comparing expected measurement values with actual observations. Thus, it is crucial to predict telemetry signals properly. In this paper, we research the prediction of energy consumption using state-of-the-art Artificial Neural Networks architectures (SCINet) compared with other Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) approaches on the data streams acquired from CoBotAGV. We especially focus on the possibility of applying feature weighting. We show that it can improve prediction capabilities. We also investigate resource utilization in terms of time to fit the embedded AGV environment. © 2023 IEEE.
