Fuzzy numbers (FNs) are essential for addressing uncertainty and ambiguity in decision-making problems. Ranking FNs facilitates evaluating and comparing alternatives, enabling informed decision-making under uncertainty. This paper presents a novel approach for ranking Generalized Trapezoidal Fuzzy Numbers (GTrFNs) with different left-right heights. The proposed method utilizes a defuzzification technique that calculates the volume of the solid generated by revolving the GTrFN’s membership function (MF) around an axis. A scoring function is developed to determine the defuzzified value of GTrFNs with different left-right heights, considering both positive and negative side volumes relative to a benchmark FN and the GTrFN’s centroid. This scoring function serves as a criterion for evaluating and comparing alternatives. The proposed approach overcomes the limitations of existing ranking methods for GTrFNs with different left-right heights. Furthermore, the method’s applicability is demonstrated through a fuzzy risk analysis case study, specifically addressing the likelihood of developing Type 2 diabetes in individuals with diverse risk profiles. © (2025), (International Association of Engineers). We consider a two-buffer polling queueing system with a changing service rate. One of the buffers has an infinite capacity, while another is finite. Changes in service rates occur during service at random moments. Inter-change times have an exponential distribution. The arrival flow is defined by a marked Markovian arrival process. The process of the system states is defined by a multidimensional Markov chain. The generator of this chain is derived, and its steady-state distribution is computed. The expressions for the main performance characteristics of the system are obtained. Numerical results that highlight the dependence of these characteristics on the rates of the distribution of an exponentially distributed buffer visit time duration are presented. Algorithms have become an integral part of professional life and social interactions, in health, transport, commerce and industry. Moreover, they are bringing about changes in the natural, social and human sciences, enriching our knowledge and testing the limits of technology. In the age of artificial intelligence (AI), the ethical behavior of algorithms is facing increasing scrutiny. Traditional models that attempt to evaluate algorithm ethics using binary or probabilistic methods often fall short in addressing the complexity and uncertainties present in real-world situations. This study introduces a novel approach to assessing algorithmic ethics by utilizing neutrosophic indeterminacy. Neutrosophic logic, which considers three parameters-truth (T), falsity (F), and indeterminacy (I)-provides a robust framework for capturing the ambiguity and inconsistencies that arise in ethical decision-making processes. By utilizing this approach, we attempt to develop a method for measuring ethical ambiguity in algorithmic decision-making. By applying the proposed conceptual framework to an illustrative example we highlight the capacity of neutrosophic logic to capture and measure ethical uncertainties in a more comprehensive manner, thus offering a new tool for evaluating the ethical integrity of algorithms in complex environments. © 2025, University of New Mexico. Farthest point map on the double cover of a parallelotope is described by linear fractional functions. Its limit set is contained in quadratic curves. For some class of parallelepipeds of dimension 3 with an acute vertex, the limit set of the farthest point map contains the center if it contains any point other than the vertices. For an orthogonal or hyper-rhombic parallelotope of dimension greater than 3, the limit points of the farthest point map are the vertices, with the sole exception of the 4-cube. © 2025, Hiroshima University. Modeling Social Evolution, Involution, and Indeterminacy: A Neutrosophic-Cultural Algorithm Approach

Neutrosophic Sociology, or Neutrosociology, is the study of sociology using neutrosophic scientific methods for understanding the dynamics of social systems within complex environments. When a social change occurs, the society evolves with respect to some parameters, regresses with respect to others, and remains the same or experiences an unclear change (indeterminacy) with respect to another set of parameters. This mirrors neutrosophic logic: true (J), neutral or indeterminate (ℐ), and false (F). The main concept of cultural algorithms is a generalization of the idea that evolution has at its base both racial learning within species and social learning within human societies. By employing a mathematical formulation that incorporates these theories, this study proposes a new framework, namely the Neutrosophic Theory of Cultural Evolution (NToCE), which analyzes how stakeholders can optimize their beliefs and actions in the face of uncertainty and conflicting interests. A real life scenario adopted from the neutrosophic social change due to technology as described in related bibliography, demonstrates the efficacy of this integrated neutrosophic framework in fostering collaborative decision-making, increasing flexibility, and promoting sustainability. The findings of our study reveal that adding neutrosophic principles into cultural algorithms considerably increases the robustness and resilience of social systems, allowing for more sophisticated modelling of stakeholder interactions and belief development. © 2025, University of New Mexico. Time-frequency analysis for the multidimensional Gabor Transform

The main crux of this paper is to introduce a new integral transform called the multidimensional Hankel–Gabor transform and to give some new results related to this transform as Plancherel’s, Parseval’s, inversion and Calderón’s reproducing formulas. Next, we analyse the concentration of this transform on sets of finite measure and we give uncertainty principle for orthonormal sequences and Donoho–Stark’s type uncertainty principle. Last, we introduce a new class of pseudo-differential operator L_u,v(σ) called localization operator which depend on a symbol σ and two functions u and v, we give a criteria in terms of the symbol σ for its boundedness and compactness, we also show that this operator belongs to the Schatten-Von Neumann classes S^p for all p∈[1;+∞] and we give a trace formula. © The Author(s) under exclusive license to Università degli Studi di Ferrara 2024.

Effect of process parameters on properties of Mn1.5CuFe0.5O4 spinel oxide coatings deposited by spray pyrolysis method

One of the critical issues in the lifetime of metallic interconnects is related to their high oxidation rate and Cr diffusion, which negatively affect their performance. In the present study, a novel Fe modified Mn–Cu spinel oxide with the chemical composition of Mn1.5CuFe0.5O4 as protective coating was deposited on the surface of Crofer 22 APU and alumina by the spray pyrolysis method. The effects of different deposition conditions including deposition temperature, spraying speed, and volume of precursor on the properties of deposited spinel coatings were investigated. Scanning electron microscopy characterizations showed that the deposited layer was uniform and non-cracked at the deposition temperature of 400 °C. However, at temperatures of 300 °C and lower, the deposited layers became non-uniform and cracked. Additionally, spraying with speeds of 10 ml/h and lower resulted in uniform and non-cracked coatings, and a higher spraying speed of 15 ml/h caused a nonuniform and cracked layer. Atomic force microscopy measurements proposed that the value of Ra was reduced by increasing the deposition temperature and reducing the spraying speed. X-ray diffraction characterization showed that deposition temperature has affected the phase structure of deposited spinel oxides on both substrates. According to electrical conductivity measurements, deposited layers at higher deposition temperatures with lower spraying speeds showed higher electrical conductivity and lower activation energy. Decreasing the deposition temperature reduced the electrical conductivity of the spinel oxide coatings. © 2025 The Authors

The integration of wearable sensors with artificial intelligence forms the base for analyzing physical activities through digital signal processing, numerical methods, and machine learning. Computational intelligence and communication technologies enable personalized monitoring, training, and rehabilitation, with applications in sports, neurology, and biomedicine. This paper focuses on motion analysis in alpine skiing using real accelerometric, gyroscopic, positioning, and video data to evaluate ski movement patterns. The proposed methodology employs functional transforms to estimate motion patterns and utilizes artificial intelligence for signal segmentation and feature classification related to lower limb movement. Machine learning results indicate differences in energy distribution before and after ski turns and demonstrate the feasibility of classifying associated motion patterns with accuracies of 98.1% and 90.7%, respectively, using a two-layer neural network. The interdisciplinary application of computational intelligence in this domain enhances motion analysis, injury prevention, and performance optimization. This study highlights the unifying role of digital signal processing, which uses similar mathematical tools across various applications. © 2013 IEEE.

Environmental drivers of the allergenic load caused by Ambrosia artemisiifolia pollen and its major allergen Amb a 1 in the atmosphere

Understanding the environmental factors influencing the allergenicity of Ambrosia artemisiifolia pollen is crucial for effective allergy prevention. This study, conducted from 2019 to 2022 in Bratislava, Slovakia, utilised a Hirst-type Burkard pollen trap and a Burkard multi-vial cyclone sampler to measure airborne ragweed pollen (by microscopic analysis) and Amb a 1 allergen concentrations (by ELISA), enabling the calculation of pollen allergen potency (PAP). The data analysis showed that annual pollen and allergen levels are affected by meteorological conditions: sunny and dry weather in May accelerated pollen production, while dry conditions in August increased allergenic potency during the main flowering phase. Based on Spearman’s correlation analysis, daily allergen levels were significantly associated with pollen concentrations. Regression analysis confirmed the influence of environmental factors on pollen, allergen and PAP levels. Pollen concentration showed a positive association with temperature and wind speed but a negative association with precipitation. Relative humidity was the only meteorological factor negatively linked to allergen levels, while temperature had a negative impact on PAP. The most relevant air pollutants were CO and SO₂, which increased allergen levels and PAP, respectively. © The Author(s) 2025.
