In this paper, we investigate the simultaneous state and unknown input (SUI) filtering issue for a class of multi-sensor networked systems (MSNSs). The unknown input with no prior knowledge is introduced in the system state and output. The focus of this paper is to design the local filters with regard to the SUI, which can yield that the local upper bounds of the filtering error covariance for the SUI are derived at each instant. Moreover, the local filter gains of the SUI are designed such that the obtained upper bounds can be minimized. Finally, the proposed joint SUI algorithm is verified by using the simulation example. © 2022 IEEE.

Given the difficulty of recognizing ambiguous emotions in facial expression recognition tasks, we propose a visual-language model named CAER-CLIP to address this challenge. The proposed CAER-CLIP standed for Context-Aware Emotion Recognition (CAER), and were incorporated structure of the Contrastive Language–Image Pre-training (CLIP) model as promising alternative to classifier. There are two parts in CAER-CLIP model. In the visual part, facial expressions and contextual information of the image are simultaneously extracted to obtain the final feature embeddings, which are then used as a learnable “class” token for text-image pairing with desired module. In the textual part, we use text labels for emotion recognition classes as input. The outputs were merged to participate the comparative study to generated parameters of the model. The experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method and show that our CAER-CLIP outperforms the state-of-the-art results on the CAER benchmark. The ablation experiment verified the effectiveness of both the classifier-based and text-based (ours without classifier) models, demonstrating that our method with the CAER-CLIP structure performed better, and the incorporation of a text encoder in the deep network model architecture effectively enhancing recognition accuracy.

In this work, the molecular dynamics method was used for modeling the formation of critical nuclei at the initial stage. The deposition of a titanium nitride film on an iron substrate was chosen as a model object. The 2NN MEAM multiatomic potential was used to calculate the interaction between atoms. Simulations of N and Ti atom deposition on an Fe(100) substrate were carried out using the MPI version of the open-source program LAMMPS (Molecular Dynamics Simulator). The substrate was modeled as a semi-infinite crystal with a frozen lower atomic layer, periodic boundary conditions at the lateral crystal sides, and a free deposition surface.

Variance reduction is a crucial idea for Monte Carlo simulation and the stochastic Lanczos quadrature method is a dedicated method to approximate the trace of a matrix function. Inspired by their advantages, we combine these two techniques to approximate the log-determinant of large-scale symmetric positive definite matrices. Key questions to be answered for such a method are how to construct or choose an appropriate projection subspace and derive guaranteed theoretical analysis. This paper applies some probabilistic approaches including the projection-cost-preserving sketch and matrix concentration inequalities to construct a suboptimal subspace. Furthermore, we provide some insights on choosing design parameters in the underlying algorithm by deriving corresponding approximation error and probabilistic error estimations. We present an economic optimization problem for allocating the flow of natural gas and hydrogen blends through a large-scale transportation pipeline network. Physical flow of the gas mixture is modeled using a steady-state relation between pressure decrease and flow rate, which depends on mass concentration of the constituents as it varies by location in the network. The objective reflects the economic value provided by the system, accounting for delivered energy in withdrawn flows, the cost of natural gas and hydrogen injections, and avoided carbon emissions. The problem is solved subject to physical flow equations, nodal balance and mixing laws, and engineering inequality constraints. The desired energy delivery rate and minimum hydrogen concentration can be specified as upper and lower bound values, respectively, of inequality constraints, and we examine the sensitivity of the physical pressure and flow solution to these parameters for two test networks. The results confirm that increasing hydrogen concentration requires greater energy expended for compression to deliver the same energy content, and the formulation could be used for valuation of the resulting mitigation of carbon emissions.

Motivated by the pivotal role played by linear operators, many years ago Rota proposed to determine algebraic operator identities satisfied by linear operators on associative algebras, later called Rota's program on algebraic operators. Recent progresses on this program have been achieved in the contexts of operated algebra, rewriting systems and Gröbner-Shirshov bases. These developments also suggest that Rota's insight can be applied to determine operator identities on Lie algebras, and thus to put the various linear operators on Lie algebras in a uniform perspective. This paper carries out this approach, utilizing operated polynomial Lie algebras spanned by non-associative Lyndon-Shirshov bracketed words. The Lie algebra analog of Rota's program was formulated in terms convergent rewriting systems and equivalently in terms of Gröbner-Shirshov bases. This Lie algebra analog is shown to be compatible with Rota's program for associative algebras. In cluster tomography, we propose measuring the number of clusters N intersected by a line segment of length ℓ across a finite sample. As expected, the leading order of N(ℓ) scales as aℓ, where a depends on microscopic details of the system. However, at criticality, there is often an additional nonlinearity of the form bln(ℓ), originating from the endpoints of the line segment. By performing large scale Monte Carlo simulations of both two- and three-dimensional percolation, we find that b is universal and depends only on the angles encountered at the endpoints of the line segment intersecting the sample. Our findings are further supported by analytic arguments in two dimensions, building on results in conformal field theory. Being broadly applicable, cluster tomography can be an efficient tool for detecting phase transitions and characterizing the corresponding universality class in classical or quantum systems with a relevant cluster structure.

The epidemiological characteristics and distributions of two epidemics in Fujian Province of Southeast China were attributed to the complex interactions among variant,host,and non-pharmaceutical interventions(NPIs).All reported cases in the Putian epidemic(September 8–October 2,2021,Delta variant B.1.617.2)and Fuzhou epidemic(October 22–November 18,2022,Omicron variant BA.5.2)were classified by sex,age group,occupation,and location in this *** surveillance data from the Fujian Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention,we established a virus-oriented SVEIR(Susceptible–Vaccinated–Exposed–Infected–Recovered)model to investigate the dynamic evolution features of these two variants and the effects of *** optimal simulations were carried out with variants and scenario *** scenario investigations showed that NPIs significantly reduced the transmission risk and infection scales of COVID-19,and that the Omicron variant was more infectious than the Delta ***,the dynamic investigations revealed the increasing tendencies from Delta to Omicron,such as the basic reproduction number,infection rate,percentage of high-risk cases,and the growth *** tendencies were also identified,such as the average recovery period,the awareness delay,and the percentage of symptomatic *** study highlighted that NPIs played critical roles in successfully containing the two *** interventions are strongly recommended to public health policymakers.
