Background: The novel coronavirus pandemic has not only affected people's health. The pandemic has also affected their social life and work. For all the reasons mentioned, international trade has suffered and is still in the process of recovery. Objective: Especially in the semiconductor industry, many manufacturers postponed their deliveries to future periods and this triggered the chip crisis. Many hightech industries, including the automotive industry, were deeply affected by the consequences of the crisis, with factories halting or slowing down production. Despite the shortage of chip stocks, Nuvoton has a large amount of Microcontroller Units (MCUs), but due to the shortage of resources, education and libraries, software developers have not been able to integrate their products in a limited time. Methods: In this paper, the Nuvoton Education Board has presented 20 common examples for embedded software developers and beginners. Results: The PCB is designed considering all modules connected to separate General Purpose Input Output (GPIO) pins to make multiple module examples without changing the peripherals and pin configuration of the MCU. Clock configuration has been simplified and unnecessary details have been meticulously removed to make the examples easily understandable. Nuvoton NuMaker M263KI V1.3 was added on the designed PCB. Conclusion: The PCB contains almost all the necessary electronics to learn embedded software and use Nuvoton MCUs in industrial projects. The board is supported with user interfaces and printed documentation. The codes are explained with command lines to teach users even small details. A patent application has been filed for the proposed education board. © 2024 Bentham Science Publishers.

Increasingly, contamination of groundwater by trace elements (TEs) with their accompanying health effects on humans is on the rise and requires continuous monitoring to allow for evaluation purposes. The water quality and health risks of TEs in groundwater in the Vea catchment in the Upper East Region of Ghana had been evaluated using the Nemerow pollution index, contamination index, hazard quotient (HQ), hazard index, and cancer risk assessment tools. Results from sampled boreholes in the study area indicated that the levels of Mn, Fe, Zn, As, Ni, and Pb exceeded the WHO’s acceptable limits for drinking water. Analysis of estimated contamination indices revealed that groundwater in the area was moderate to highly contaminated. The HQ, hazard indices, as well as carcinogenic risk assessment values indicated that adults and children were prone to potential non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic health-related issues such as anemia and cancer of the kidney. The southern, central, northern, and northeastern parts of the catchment were potentially at high risk of both non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic health issues due to exposure to As-, Ni-, and Pb-contaminated groundwater. Bongo, Somborogo, and Kabere communities in the study area require particular attention and monitoring for these TEs’ contamination. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Iranian Society of Environmentalists (IRSEN) and Science and research Branch, Islamic Azad University 2024.

The paper is devoted to the development of a genetic algorithm for finding the optimal values of control parameters of the ethylene oligomerization process. The formulation of the problem of optimal control of the ethylene oligomerization process is given. The control parameters are temperature and reaction duration, the values of which are subject to constraints. It is proposed to search for the solution of the formulated problems using a genetic algorithm with real coding. The principle of operation of genetic algorithms is based on the imitation of the processes of evolution of living nature. It includes cyclic application of selection, crossing, mutation and renewal operations to a population of individuals. For each of the problems under consideration the method of representation of the mathematical analog of the population, on the basis of which the solution is searched, is described. A step-by-step genetic algorithm for solving the formulated optimal control problems is given. A computational experiment is carried out, as a result of which the optimal reaction temperature and process duration, at which the target functional takes the largest value, are calculated. © 2024 IEEE.

Rapid interest in identifying specific biomarkers has been sparked by the development of wearable electrochemical sensors for physiological and biological monitoring via noninvasive measurement. During anaerobic metabolic circumstances, monitoring the lactate content become critical for noninvasive diagnostic of hypoxia. To improve the sensitivity of wearable sweat biosensors for detecting lactate concentrations, in this study, metal-organic framework (MOF)-derived NiCo-based layered double hydroxides (m-NiCo LDHs) with N-doped graphene quantum dots (NGQDs) decoration are designed. According to the X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) analysis, the incorporation of NGQDs will alter the local electronic structure of transition metals in m-NiCo LDHs, thereby reducing the charge transfer resistance and accelerating the electron transfer kinetics during electrochemical reactions of lactate detection. After understanding the role of NGQDs in the matrix of m-NiCo LDHs, as-designed NGQD/m-NiCo LDH-based electrochemical biosensors for lactate detection displayed superior sensitivity of 62.63 ± 1.50 μA mM-1 cm-2 under an applied potential of 0.60 V (vs Ag/AgCl/3 M KCl) with the lactate concentration range of 0 to 15 mM in alkaline condition, compared to pristine NiCo LDH (16.77 ± 1.70 μA mM-1 cm-2)- and m-NiCo LDH (45.45 ± 4.39 μA mM-1 cm-2)-based ones. This research provides a potential electrocatalyst of GQD-modified MOF-derived LDHs for using enzyme-free electrochemical lactate sensors with reliable and stable performance in order to implement noninvasive human perspiration monitoring on wearable bioelectronics. © 2024 The Authors. Fitting real world data into a model for classification, is a challenging task. Modern approaches to classification are often resource intensive and may become bottlenecks. A microservice architecture that allows maintaining a model of real world data, and adding new information as it becomes available is presented in this paper. Updates to the model are handled via different microservices. The architecture and connected workflows are demonstrated in a use case of classifying text data in a taxonomy represented by a directed acyclic graph (DAG). The presented architecture removes the classification bottleneck, as multiple data points can be added independent of each other, and reading access to the model is not restricted. Additional microservices also enable a manual intervention to update the model. © 2022 The Authors.

Wound healing process is associated with multifaceted complications and is a functional way to advance the therapeutic process. Polymeric biomaterials exhibit structural mimicry with the extracellular matrix of the tissue to be regenerated and they also avoid chronic inflammation and immunological responses. Chitosan, a biopolymer demonstrates exceptional healing properties because of its biocompatibility, biodegradability, antimicrobial nature and affinity for biomolecules. Biomaterials consisting of chitosan along with herbal extracts could be ideal for wound healing. Click chemistry can provide one of the best ways to combine these bio-actives with chitosan. Advancing wound healing strategies with artificial intelligence /machine learning approaches can be employed further to boost the clinical efficacies of bioactive-loaded chitosan composite hydrogels. This review article investigates functionalized wound dressings with special emphasis on chitosan-based hydrogels, their effects on wound healing, and advanced approaches to increase hydrogel benefits by adding bioactive substances to form nanocomposites. © 2020 IEEE.

The privacy and utility are the trade-off factors, where the performance of one factor should sacrifice to achieve the other. If privacy is achieved without publishing the data, then efficient utility cannot be achieved, hence the original dataset tends to get published without privacy. Therefore, it is essential to maintain the equilibrium between privacy and utility of datasets. In this paper, we propose a new privacy utility method, where the privacy is maintained by lightweight elliptical curve cryptography (ECC), and utility is maintained through ant colony optimisation (ACO) clustering. Initially, the datasets are clustered using ACO and then the privacy of clustered datasets is maintained using ECC. The proposed method has experimented over medical datasets and it is compared with existing methods through several performance metrics like clustering accuracy, F-measure, data utility, and privacy metrics. The analysis shows that the proposed method obtains improved privacy preservation using the clustering algorithm than existing methods. © 2022 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

A wide variety of transition metals, including copper and gold, have been successfully used as substrates for graphene growth. On the other hand, it has been challenging to grow graphene on silver, so realistic applications by combining graphene and silver for improved electrode stability and enhanced surface plasmon resonance in organic light-emitting diodes and biosensing have not been realized to date. Here, we demonstrate the surface passivation of silver through the single-step rapid growth of nanocrystalline multilayer graphene on silver via low-temperature plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD). The effect of the growth time on the graphene quality and the underlying silver characteristics is investigated by Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and cross-sectional annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy (ADF-STEM). These results reveal nanocrystalline graphene structures with turbostratic layer stacking. Based on the XPS and ADF-STEM results, a PECVD growth mechanism of graphene on silver is proposed. The multilayer graphene also provides excellent long-term protection of the underlying silver surface from oxidation after 5 months of air exposure. This development thus paves the way toward realizing technological applications based on graphene-protected silver surfaces and electrodes as well as hybrid graphene-silver plasmonics. © 2023 The Authors. In this paper,we study the system performance of mobile edge computing(MEC)wireless sensor networks(WSNs)using a multiantenna access point(AP)and two sensor clusters based on uplink nonorthogonal multiple access(NOMA).Due to limited computation and energy resources,the cluster heads(CHs)offload their tasks to a multiantenna AP over Nakagami-m *** proposed a combination protocol for NOMA-MEC-WSNs in which the AP selects either selection combining(SC)or maximal ratio combining(MRC)and each cluster selects a CH to participate in the communication process by employing the sensor node(SN)*** derive the closed-form exact expressions of the successful computation probability(SCP)to evaluate the system performance with the latency and energy consumption constraints of the considered *** results are provided to gain insight into the system performance in terms of the SCP based on system parameters such as the number of AP antennas,number of SNs in each cluster,task length,working frequency,offloading ratio,and transmit power ***,to determine the optimal resource parameters,i.e.,the offloading ratio,power allocation of the two CHs,and MEC AP resources,we proposed two algorithms to achieve the best system *** approach reveals that the optimal parameters with different schemes significantly improve SCP compared to other similar *** use Monte Carlo simulations to confirm the validity of our analysis.
