In vitro antibacterial activities, DPPH radical scavenging, and molecular simulation of isolated compounds from the stem bark of Grewia ferruginea

Grewia ferruginea is a medicinal plant used in Ethiopia to treat various ailments. Given its traditional uses and the absence of reports on its phytochemical constituents, this study was designed to isolate compounds from the stem bark of G. ferruginea and evaluate their in vitro biological activities. The essential oil was extracted using hydrodistillation and analyzed by GC–MS to identify 32 compounds. Whereas, lupeol (33), β-sitosterol (34), stigmasterol (35), daucosterol (36), and ( +)-catechin (37) were extracted using maceration, isolated by chromatographic techniques, and characterized using NMR spectral data. At 5 mg/mL, compound 33 exhibited a greater inhibition zone (IZ) of 15.2 mm against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Compound 34 demonstrated better activity against Streptococcus pyogenes with an IZ of 15.07 mm. Compounds 36 and 37 showed higher activity against Escherichia coli with IZ of 12.50 and 12.33 mm, respectively. However, the essential oil exhibited better activity against Staphylococcus aureus with an IZ of 13.4 mm. The results of in silico molecular docking studies supported the results of in vitro antibacterial activity evaluations. At 62.5 µg/mL, compound 37 inhibited the highest (90.2%) 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical, while compound 34 inhibited the least (18.5%) with IC50 values of 2.0 and 67.1 µg/mL, respectively. The essential oil inhibited only 28.6% of the DPPH radical. Predictions made using SwissADME and Pro Tox 3.0 online tools indicated that all isolated compounds obey Lipinski’s rule and are not fatal if swallowed. Therefore, these compounds provide evidence for the plant's traditional uses in treating bacterial diseases.

Vehicular traffic networks (VANETs) are an important part of modern transportation systems, focusing on critical applications such as collision avoidance, lane change assistance, and traffic recognition. However, data distribution in VANETs is very challenging, especially due to the unique characteristics of wireless communications and the dynamic traffic environment. In this context, packet delivery control is very important for proper communication. In this paper, research proposes a new Computer defined Vehicle Network (SDVN) Controlled Routing and Scheduling (CDRS) method to solve the complex data distribution problem of VANET unlike existing approaches, CDRS uses SDVN management functions to integrate a routing strategy and a scheduling strategy that optimizes multihop data transmission. Priorities in CDRS are based on routing and scheduling constraints. Current protocols focus on finding the shortest path connecting source and destination pairs, ignoring factors such as packet proximity and link length, but performance is limited in dynamic VANET environments. Similarly, current scheduling approaches focus on single-hop data distribution and ignore the © 2024 IEEE.

In this study, ZnO films are prepared at a low temperature of 150 °C by using spatial atomic layer deposition (sALD) with diethylzinc and ozone as precursor and oxidant. The ozone flow rate is varied to systematically investigate its effect on optical, structural and electrical properties. The experimental results show that the self-limiting surface reactions can occur at the low ozone flow rate of 200 sccm, confirming ALD growth mode. All the ozone flow rates lead to ZnO (002) crystalline orientation, which is difficult to be obtained for conventional water-based ALD ZnO films at the low temperature. The increased ozone flow rate results in an increased amount of oxygen vacancies, enhanced carrier concentration and a reduced stress. The resistivity and carrier concentration can be tuned in the range of 4.75–0.08 Ω-cm and (1.1–5.5) × 1018 cm−3. Finally, the sALD ZnO film on polyethylene terephthalate reveals a high stability in the film property against bending. This study is beneficial for the utilization of ZnO films in optoelectronic devices that demand the (002) preferred orientation, especially under low-temperature conditions. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd and Techna Group S.r.l.

Increasing global energy consumption has become an urgent problem as natural energy sources such as oil,gas,and uranium are rapidly running *** into renewable energy sources such as solar energy is being pursued to counter *** energy is one of the most promising renewable energy sources,as it has the potential to meet the world’s energy needs *** study aims to develop and evaluate artificial intelligence(AI)models for predicting hourly global *** hyperparameters were optimized using the Broyden-FletcherGoldfarb-Shanno(BFGS)quasi-Newton training algorithm and STATISTICA *** from two stations in Algeria with different climatic zones were used to develop the *** error measurements were used to determine the accuracy of the prediction models,including the correlation coefficient,the mean absolute error,and the root mean square error(RMSE).The optimal support vector machine(SVM)model showed exceptional efficiency during the training phase,with a high correlation coefficient(R=0.99)and a low mean absolute error(MAE=26.5741 Wh/m^(2)),as well as an RMSE of 38.7045 Wh/m^(2) across all ***,this study highlights the importance of accurate prediction models in the renewable energy,which can contribute to better energy management and planning.

The significance of facial recognition in the era of artificial intelligence lies in its utilization of facial features as a type of biometric characteristic possessing uniqueness and irreversibility. However, exposing these features to attacks, tampering, or unauthorized disclosure poses considerable threats to user privacy and security. A privacy and security solution based on deep learning and encryption algorithms is proposed to tackle this issue. This solution employs the FaceNet deep learning algorithm to extract facial features efficiently. The combination of biometric feature blurriness and cryptographic system precision is achieved, utilizing the CKKS fully homomorphic encryption algorithm for operations in the ciphertext domain of facial recognition. The SM4 algorithm is used to enhance the resilience of facial feature ciphertext against malicious attacks. By leveraging the properties of symmetric ciphers, a balance is achieved between security and computational efficiency. The management of the symmetric key used in the SM4 algorithm is conducted through the employment of the SM9 asymmetric encryption algorithm. Experimental results and analysis demonstrate that the proposed solution enhances the security of data transmission, storage, and comparison without compromising the accuracy and efficiency of facial recognition. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

research has demonstrated the effectiveness of metaheuristic algorithms in addressing optimization challenges involving multi-objectives. These algorithms excel in generating a range of solutions that not only approach the Pareto front but are also evenly distributed. Multi-objective algorithms are effective for problems with two or three objectives. However, their efficiency diminishes in scenarios with many objectives, as the diversity selection and convergence pressure become less effective. Balancing convergence and diversity in multi-objective optimization pose a significant challenge. In response, this study introduces a novel many-objective multi-verse optimizer algorithm named MaOMVO for addressing many-objective problems. It integrates reference point and niche preserve to improve convergence and diversity and employs an innovative information feedback mechanism technique for population renewal. The superiority of the MaOMVO algorithm is evident in tests with MaF problems having 5, 8 and 15 objectives, as well as five real-world problems (RWMaOP1—RWMaOP5). It outperforms four leading algorithms Many-objective moth flame optimization, many-objective particle swarm optimization, non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-III and reference vector guided evolutionary algorithm in terms of generational distance by 70%, inverted generational distance by 52%, spacing by 46.66%, spread by 55.55%, hypervolume by 52% and running time by 52% with concave, convex and mixed pareto fronts, confirming its robustness in diverse optimization scenarios. © The Institution of Engineers (India) 2024.

Workover operations are crucial for maintain the normal production of oil, gas and water wells and require significant manpower and material resources. In recent years, automation equipment has become more widely used in the operations of oilfield workover operations. The present paper established the finite element model of the newly developed tubing and sucker rod vertically handling equipment, and the deformation, equivalent stress and wind-resistant ability of the structure model under dead weight load and wind load are investigated. The wind load is equivalent to the wind pressure acting on the structural unit, and the transient wind field is composed through linear superposition of harmonic function with random amplitude and frequency. Results show that the maximum equivalent stress is much lower than the yield stress of the structural material under typical working conditions, the maximum displacement of the manipulator position meets the design requirements of positioning accuracy. The vehicle collision warning on urban road based on internet of vehicles data

It is of great significance to provide early warning for vehicle collisions on urban roads. In order to overcome the high missing rate and low warning accuracy and poor efficiency of traditional early warning methods, an urban road vehicle collision early warning method based on Internet of Vehicles data was proposed. The extended Kalman filter is used to estimate the vehicle attitude on urban roads, and the vehicle longitudinal safety distance model is established. Based on the Internet of Vehicles, the position, speed, acceleration and heading information of follow-up vehicles on urban roads and vehicles in front of urban roads are obtained, and the dispersion of vehicle spacing changes is obtained. The dispersion isused as the judgment threshold of urban road vehicle collision warning to realize collision warning. The experimental results show that the average false alarm rate is 1.2%, the maximum false alarm rate is only 1%, and the alarm time is only 19.9s. © 2022, Aracne Editrice. All rights reserved.

In this study, a single-phase induction heating (IH)-applied water heating system with Silicon Carbide (SiC) MOSFET-based single-ended high frequency inverter is presented for home and consumer appliances. The proposed system exhibits high thermal response for fluid heating due to the ferromagnetic/non-ferromagnetic materials and work-coil structure. They which are suitably designed for electric heating as well as the newly-developed high-frequency inverter. Thus, efficient electric-thermal energy conversion is expected. This is competitive for conventional gas-based fluid heating. The performances of the proposed fluid IH system are demonstrated with a 5-kW prototype together with the relevant analysis and design. Subsequently, the feasibility is evaluated based on practical applications. © 2024 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
