This study examines the causal relationship of perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, attitude, trust, behavior intention and actual behavior, which occur online shopping with the moderating effects of online experience. An estimated model discusses building an effective relationship with online shoppers. The survey was conducted with 600 undergraduates in Taiwan. Structural equation modeling was employed to validate the measures and confirm the hypothesized model. All variables have significant and positive impact, and online experiences moderate the causal relationship.

After the outbreak of COVID-19, numerous language courses have embraced online learning. However, the shift of teaching environment also brought many technical and pedagogical challenges. Phonetics learning which requires mutual interaction, teacher’s clarification, and personal feedbacks so students can pronounce correctly is considered one of the most difficult subjects to teach in online context. Therefore, well designed studies are needed to understand the optimized teaching methods to improve student’s performance. This research adopted counterbalanced design to evaluate the effect of contrastive listening and discrimination (CLD) method and sound-character aggregation method (SCA) method in online context. Although both methods are suggested for phonetic learning in offline environment, the result show intermediate Chines-as-foreign-language (CFL) Japanese students had significant improvement after CLD method, but not after SCA method in an online context. However, although students did not have significant improvements after SCA method, its progress is not significantly different from CLD method. We further give some suggestions about teaching Japanese students about Chinese affricates in an online, one-on-one environment. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

BACKGROUND: Women are at most risk for chronic diseases which can be prevented by healthy dietary choices. Evidence exists that nutrition education interventions (NEIs) are effective in educating community-dwelling women to modify their behavior for better health outcomes. OBJECTIVES: The objectives of this study were to implement a need-based, tailored NEI and evaluate its effectiveness in improving nutrition and soy knowledge and self-efficacy of participants in the intervention group compared to a control group. METHODS: A quasi-experimental pre-post-study design was used in a convenience sample of 149 women from the copper belt region of Zambia. The health belief model (HBM) informed the NEI, which consisted of six lessons, three cooking demonstrations, and an illustrative recipe book. Nutrition and soy knowledge scores and self-efficacy scores were evaluated using validated and reliable questionnaires. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS software, version 26, and mean change scores in knowledge and self-efficacy were compared between the intervention and control groups. RESULTS: The average improvement in the scores for total nutrition knowledge and all six sub-sections of knowledge was significantly higher in the intervention group compared to the control group. The mean total self-efficacy score for the intervention group improved significantly (p=5.7767e-20) from a pre-intervention score of 29.9±7.4 to 57.3±7.0 after the implementation of the NEI. No significant improvement (p=0.904) in the control group was observed. CONCLUSIONS: A short-Term, multi-component NEI was effective in improving the nutrition and soy knowledge and soy cooking self-efficacy of the participants in the intervention group. © 2023-The authors. Building trust in automatic video interviews using various AI interfaces: Tangibility, immediacy, and transparency

As the demand for automatic video interviews powered by artificial intelligence (AI) increases among employers in the postpandemic era, so do concerns over job applicants' trust in the technology. There are various forms of AI-based video interviews with and without the features of tangibility, immediacy, and transparency used for preemployment screening, and these features may distinctively influence applicants' trust in the technology and whether they engage in or disengage from the hiring process accordingly. This field study involved designing a test of the effect of various forms of AI-based video interviews on interviewees' cognitive and affective trust based on the self-reporting of 152 real job applicants. The study found that AI used in asynchronous video interviews (AI-AVI) increased applicants' cognitive trust from that in the non-AI condition. Moreover, when the AI-AVI had features of tangibility and transparency, the applicants’ cognitive and affective trust increased. However, the feature of immediacy did not have a statistically significant impact. Contrary to concern over the potential negative effects caused by AI and its features, no statistically significant impacts were found in this study. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd

The aim of this research is to develop a hands-on spatial geometry learning system to facilitate students' geometry learning. The system is developed with Duval's four critical elements of geometry apprehension including perceptual apprehension, sequential apprehension, operational apprehension and discursive apprehension. The system supports senior high school students in the process of spatial geometry problem-solving, allowing them to hands-on manipulate spatial geometry graphics and develop their visualization and mental imagery. In total, 58 participants from different classes were recruited. The experimental group used the hands-on learning system, whereas the control group followed the traditional paper-based approach. The study investigates the effects of the hands-on geometry learning system on students' perceptual apprehension, sequential apprehension, operational apprehension, overall spatial geometry scores and learning attitude. The results revealed more learning attitude, and higher perceptual apprehension, sequential apprehension, operational apprehension in the experimental group.

Do Job Candidates Perform Honest and Deceptive Impression Management Differently in Automated Video Interviews with Different Ai Interfaces?

Automated video interviews powered by artificial intelligence (AI) are increasingly being adopted by employers to screen job candidates despite concerns regarding the humanity and transparency of AI. Accordingly, researchers and practitioners advocate overcoming these concerns by refining AI interfaces in terms of tangibility, immediacy, and transparency. However, AI video interviews featuring different interfaces may impact interviewees’ tendencies to engage in impression management behaviors (IMs), which can either improve or impair personnel selection validity. This study addressed calls for research to investigate the issues mentioned above by conducting a field study to explore the ways in which AI and AI interfaces affect candidates’ IMs in asynchronous video interviews (AVIs). We developed three AVI interfaces and measured real job applicants’ self-reported IMs across four experimental treatments. We found that different AI interfaces could increase or decrease candidates’ honesty IMs and deceptive IMs in different ways. An exploratory analysis also found that candidates’ interview anxiety could be mitigated by an AI interface. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Milk is a universal food that is widely consumed around the world irrespective of age. It has a complex matrix consisting of proteins, carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins, and enzymes that have successfully retained the interest of researchers as yet. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of low-temperature long-time (LTLT), ultraviolet light (UV), and ultrasound (US) treatments on physicochemical properties, microbial count, and fatty acid profiling of three types of bovine milk – Country (C), Jersey (J), and Holstein Friesian (HF). The study was conducted in southern India, where these three types of milk are commonly consumed. It was found that no significant (p ˂ 0.05) differences in the proximate composition of milk samples subjected to different treatments compared to untreated milk. However, LTLT treatment resulted in a reduction in ascorbic acid content and significant changes in antioxidant activity and lactose content. LTLT treatment was also able to kill the pathogenic bacteria E. coli, whereas UV and US treatment only showed a notable reduction in the E. coli count. Fatty acid profiling of the treated milk samples was done using GC/MS, and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) was performed to study the types of chemical bonds present. The results showed that non-thermal treatments (UV and US) were able to sustain the chemical characteristics of milk and had potential for implementation in the dairy industry. Overall, the study highlights the potential benefits of non-thermal treatments such as UV and US in maintaining the chemical properties of milk and reducing pathogenic bacteria count. The findings could be useful in the dairy industry to ensure the safety and quality of milk. © 2023 Elsevier B.V.

In order to provide a more flexible wireless rechargeable sensor network, a charger and a self-propelled vehicle are integrated into one vehicle in recent years. The path selection problem of mobile chargers can be formulated as the well-known travelling salesman problem. Therefore, metaheuristic algorithms can be applied to solve the planning problem of mobile chargers. Some researches presented planning methods based on the Simulated Annealing (SA) and Tabu Search (TS) algorithms but the results are not satisfied. In this paper, we not only design a novel encoding approach but also the fitness function for proposing an efficient planning algorithm based on the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed ACO-based algorithm achieves a shorter planning path for a longer network lifetime compared with that generated by the SA and TS algorithms. © 2021, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

This study aimed to discuss the relationship between innovative concepts of training quality and organizational commitment for Taiwan's industry management. Questionnaire survey was conducted on manufacturers in Taiwan that participated in the project of the Vocational Training Council. A total of 1000 questionnaires were distributed to directors, general employees, and human resource personnel in 100 industrial companies;and 66 valid samples from directors, 382 from general employees, and 123 from human resource personnel were returned, totally 571 valid samples. The data were analyzed by the structure equation modeling (SEM). Based on the results, the following conclusions are made: (1) an organizational scale of background variables has a significant effect on training quality, (2) different background variables have no significant effect on organizational commitment, and (3) training quality is significantly correlated to organizational commitment. The research results on innovation indicated that focus on training quality control is conducive to benefits of organizational commitment, and has a positive effect on organizational development. ©2010 IEEE.
