One of the most crucial issues that smart cities have to keep addressing as they grow is urban mobility improvement. Maximizing the efficiency of transportation, so lowering congestion, and so optimizing traffic flow can help to solve the growing urbanization and increasing vehicle numbers. This research aims to develop and implement a deep learning method based on DenseNet in order to reach the target of raising the effectiveness of urban traffic management. The unique selling proposition that distinguishes this sector from others is the introduction of modern technologies into a sector that has always depended on conventional methods. The main goal of the work was to apply DenseNet architecture to analyze traffic patterns. Considering the two other strategies, the proposed option has a lot of possibilities. From evaluation criteria-which comprised recall, precision, and F1-score, the proposed solution outperformed the approaches regarded to be state-of-the-art.

Many real-world applications,including adaptive radar scanning and smart stealth,require reconfigurable multifunctional devices to simultaneously manipulate multiple degrees of freedom of electromagnetic(EM)waves in an on-demand ***,kirigami technique,affording versatile and unconventional structural transformation,has been introduced to endow metamaterials with the capability of controlling EM waves in a reconfigurable ***,we report for a kirigami-inspired sparse meta-architecture,with structural density of 1.5%in terms of the occupation space,for adaptive invisibility based on independent operations of frequency,bandwidth,and *** on the general principle of dipolar management via structural reconstruction of kirigami-inspired meta-architectures,we demonstrate reconfigurable invisibility management with abundant EM functions and a wide tuning range using three enantiomers(A,B,and C)of different geometries characterized by the folding angleβ.Our strategy circumvents issues of limited abilities,narrow tuning range,extreme condition,and high cost raised by available reconfigurable metamaterials,providing a new avenue toward multifunctional smart devices.

In this paper we deal with stochastic optimization problems where the data distributions change in response to the decision variables. Traditionally, the study of optimization problems with decision-dependent distributions has assumed either the absence of constraints or fixed constraints. This work considers a more general setting where the constraints can also dynamically adjust in response to changes in the decision variables. Specifically, we consider linear constraints and analyze the effect of decision-dependent distributions in both the objective function and constraints. Firstly, we establish a sufficient condition for the existence of a constrained equilibrium point, at which the distributions remain invariant under retraining. Moreover, we propose and analyze two algorithms: repeated constrained optimization and repeated dual ascent. For each algorithm, we provide sufficient conditions for convergence to the constrained equilibrium point. Furthermore, we explore the relationship between the equilibrium point and the optimal point for the constrained decision-dependent optimization problem. Notably, our results encompass previous findings as special cases when the constraints remain fixed. To show the effectiveness of our theoretical analysis, we provide numerical experiments on both a market problem and a dynamic pricing problem for parking based on real-world data. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

In this study we address the complex practical problem of multiple heterogeneous container loading with a simple genetic algorithm. We demonstrate that with a well-chosen representation including a heuristic and a suitable fitness function the other aspects of the genetic algorithm do not need extensive work for good results. The primary goal of any company is to increase its profits by improving both the quality of its products and how they are advertised. In this context, neuromarketing seeks to enhance the promotion of products and generate a greater acceptance on potential buyers. Traditionally, neuromarketing studies have relied on a single biosignal to obtain feedback from presented stimuli. However, thanks to new devices and technological advances studying this area of knowledge, recent trends indicate a shift towards the fusion of diverse biosignals. An example is the usage of electroencephalography for understanding the impact of an advertisement at the neural level and visual tracking to identify the stimuli that induce such impacts. This emerging pattern determines which biosignals to employ for achieving specific neuromarketing objectives. Furthermore, the fusion of data from multiple sources demands advanced processing methodologies. Despite these complexities, there is a lack of literature that adequately collates and organizes the various data sources and the applied processing techniques for the research objectives pursued. To address these challenges, the current paper conducts a comprehensive analysis of the objectives, biosignals, and data processing techniques employed in neuromarketing research. This study provides both the technical definition and a graphical distribution of the elements under revision. Additionally, it presents a categorization based on research objectives and provides an overview of the combinatory methodologies employed. After this, the paper examines primary public datasets designed for neuromarketing research together with others whose main purpose is not neuromarketing, but can be used for this matter. Ultimately, this work provides a historical perspective on the evolution of techniques across various phases over recent years and enumerates key lessons learned. © 2023, The Authors. Forty years ago, in 1983, Lee Schruben proposed the Event Graph formalism and modeling language, subsequently defining the paradigm of Event-Based Simulation, in a precise way, which had been pioneered 20 years before by SIMSCRIPT. The purpose of this panel is for a group of Event Graph researchers both from Operations Research and computer Science, including the inventor of Event Graphs and one of his former PhD students who has made essential contributions to their theory, to discuss their views on the history and potential of Event Graph modeling and simulation. In particular, the adoption of Event Graphs as a discrete process modeling language in Discrete Event Simulation and in computer Science, and their potential as a foundation for the entire field of Discrete Event Simulation and for the fields of process modeling and AI in computer Science is debated.

A Memory-Augmented Conditional Neural Process Model for Traffic Prediction

This paper presents the first neural process-based model for traffic prediction, the Memory-augmented Conditional Neural Process (MemCNP). Our model effectively addresses key challenges in capturing complex spatio-temporal traffic patterns in data-sparse situations and introduces a novel framework for uncertainty estimation. We further incorporate a novel memory network module designed to acquire a representative contextual reference, thereby improving our model performance under complex data distributions. By integrating the conditional neural process and the memory network, MemCNP enables the learning of the most representative contexts through iterative updates, thus enhancing generalisation capabilities and providing a more adaptable model for a broad range of real-world traffic scenarios, including highway traffic, urban traffic, and non-motorised traffic. This is demonstrated by comprehensive experimental results on six benchmark datasets, PeMS04, PeMS07, PeMS08, NYCTaxi, CHIBike and T-Drive over existing state-of-the-art traffic prediction models, where MemCNP shows superior performance. Additionally, through ablation and reliability studies, we provide a comprehensive analysis of the model's effectiveness. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Teeth segmentation and recognition are critical in various dental applications and dental diagnosis. Automatic and accurate segmentation approaches have been made possible by integrating deep learning models. Although teeth segmentation has been studied in the past, only some techniques were able to effectively classify and segment teeth simultaneously. This article offers a pipeline of two deep learning models, U-Net and YOLOv8, which results in BB-UNet, a new architecture for the classification and segmentation of teeth on panoramic X-rays that is efficient and reliable. We have improved the quality and reliability of teeth segmentation by utilising the YOLOv8 and U-Net capabilities. The proposed networks have been evaluated using the mean average precision (mAP) and dice coefficient for YOLOv8 and BB-UNet, respectively. We have achieved a 3% increase in mAP score for teeth classification compared to existing methods, and a 10-15% increase in dice coefficient for teeth segmentation compared to U-Net across different categories of teeth. A new Dental dataset was created based on UFBA-UESC dataset with Bounding-Box and Polygon annotations of 425 dental panoramic X-rays. This study aims to utilize artificial neural networks to distinguish batik motifs and non-batik fabric motifs. Several important steps are needed, namely the process of acquiring batik and non-batik images, pre-transforming batik and non-batik images to gray scale forms, texture feature extraction in gray scale images and detection of motifs using networks artificial nerve. Image acquisition is done by collecting batik and not batik images from several different motifs. Processing data sets is divided into 70% as training data and 30% as testing data. Artificial neural network models used in this research use the Backpropagation learning algorithm by comparing the Scaled conjugate gradient algorithm (trainscg) training method and the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm (trainlm) training method. The results obtained for the accuracy using the Scaled conjugate gradient algorithm (trainscg) training method were higher with an accuracy value of 84.12%, compared to the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm (trainlm) method by 86.11%. © 2020 EAI.

Conventional methods for diagnosing bridge damage have centred on tracking changes in modal-based Damage Sensitive Features (DSFs), which are strongly related to structural stiffness. Environmental and operational variations, inefficient use of machine learning approaches for damage detection, and an overall reliance on modal-based DSFs are some of the limits and hurdles that the system still faces, despite substantial progress towards practical deployment. According to the proposed method, the initial three steps are data preparation, feature extraction, and model training. In order to identify damage during the preprocessing step, the suggested approach utilises anomaly scores. Features in the timefrequency domain allow for parallel processing of signals in the signal-to-feature extraction pipeline. After the features have been extracted, the data is used to train GBDT-BiLSTM models. The proposed approach achieves better results than the wellknown alternatives, GBDT and BiLSTM.
