Currently, it is important to note that formative research can be used as a strategy in the teaching process [1], and it is possible to avoid 'the parceling of content into minimum units [1]' in class subjects. In parallel, systematic literature reviews [2] can be integrated into the teaching-learning process in all areas of knowledge, such as engineering, education [2] and others, combining them as a pedagogical strategy [1] in the learning process formative research in the classroom [1]. Also, it is necessary to highlight that the agile framework was applied, which is composed of 3 main events [3], [4]: planning, development and review, in a case study to elaborate the state of the art on topics related to the 'disorder of the autism spectrum (ASD)' and 'machine learning' (ML). © 2023 IEEE.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is "a developmental disability caused by differences in the brain [1]". With this background, the need arises to find a support tool for early diagnosis in children with autism, where machine learning and deep learning algorithms are currently available. In addition, it can be noted that it is important to have "current knowledge of the subject [2, p. 98]", and as an initial step, the agile framework for systematic reviews of literature in formative research was used, and a thematic index was established, identifying variables and levels of variation. Likewise, the searches were semantically structured and the search scripts related to the search sprints were developed. As a result, 143 and 189 articles per sprint were found, and 6 papers that are common in the search sprint A and B were selected, which serve as the first reference in a research plan. ©2023 IEEE.

Deep neural networks virtually dominate the domain of most modern vision systems, providing high performance at a cost of increased computational complexity. Since for those systems it is often required to operate both in real-time and with minimal energy consumption (e.g., for wearable devices or autonomous vehicles, edge Internet of Things (IoT), sensor networks), various network optimisation techniques are used, e.g., quantisation, pruning, or dedicated lightweight architectures. Due to the logarithmic distribution of weights in neural network layers, a method providing high performance with significant reduction in computational precision (for 4-bit weights and less) is the Power-of-Two (PoT) quantisation (and therefore also with a logarithmic distribution). This method introduces additional possibilities of replacing the typical for neural networks Multiply and ACcumulate (MAC—performing, e.g., convolution operations) units, with more energy-efficient Bitshift and ACcumulate (BAC). In this paper, we show that a hardware neural network accelerator with PoT weights implemented on the Zynq UltraScale + MPSoC ZCU104 SoC FPGA can be at least 1.4x more energy efficient than the uniform quantisation version. To further reduce the actual power requirement by omitting part of the computation for zero weights, we also propose a new pruning method adapted to logarithmic quantisation. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This paper focuses on the performance of equalizer zero-determinant(ZD)strategies in discounted repeated Stackelberg asymmetric *** the leader-follower adversarial scenario,the strong Stackelberg equilibrium(SSE)deriving from the opponents’best response(BR),is technically the optimal strategy for the ***,computing an SSE strategy may be difficult since it needs to solve a mixed-integer program and has exponential complexity in the number of *** this end,the authors propose an equalizer ZD strategy,which can unilaterally restrict the opponent’s expected *** authors first study the existence of an equalizer ZD strategy with one-to-one situations,and analyze an upper bound of its performance with the baseline SSE *** the authors turn to multi-player models,where there exists one player adopting an equalizer ZD *** authors give bounds of the weighted sum of opponents’s utilities,and compare it with the SSE ***,the authors give simulations on unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)and the moving target defense(MTD)to verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Quantum Neural Networks (QNNs) are an emerging technology that can be used in many applications including computer vision. In this paper, we presented a traffic sign classification system implemented using a hybrid quantum-classical convolutional neural network. Experiments on the German Traffic Sign Recognition Benchmark dataset indicate that currently QNN do not outperform classical DCNN (Deep Convolutuional Neural Networks), yet still provide an accuracy of over 90% and are a definitely promising solution for advanced computer vision. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

During the last few years, there has been a growing interest in the topic of using natural or synthetic esters as an alternative to mineral oils in oil transformers due to the easier way to obtain them and their ability to exhibit better electrical properties. In addition, more and more researchers are describing in their work that doping esters with nanoparticles is capable of further improving these properties. Therefore, in the current work, it was decided to see what effect the addition of a hydrophobic carbon shell iron nanoparticle to ORLEN mineral oil and Midel 7131 synthetic ester would have on selected electrical parameters of the insulating fluid, i.e. breakdown voltage and electrical strength. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents an analysis of the effectiveness of blood vessel segmentation in human retinal images. The segmentation process was carried out for three-dimensional optical coherence tomography (OCT) scans using the author's publicly available CAVRI-C database. A 3D version of the U-Net artificial neural network was used. Various dimensions of the input blocks were investigated to determine their influence on the segmentation process. The effectiveness of the proposed solutions was evaluated using various metrics and the results obtained were compared with the 2D solution, also based on neural networks. The use of the proposed solutions allowed us to improve the segmentation even by 15% (in the case of the F1-score). © 2023 Division of Signal Processing and Electronic systems, Poznan University of Technology (DSPES PUT).

This work presents the results of the examination of the HeLa cell line exposure on the ELF-EMF (extremely low-frequency electromagnetic field). In particular, the relationship between ELF-EMF exposition time and cell death. The examination of cell death hallmarks were examined by estimation levels of selected proteins - FACL4 (a protein that is a part of the ferroptosis pathway) and CK18 (Cytokeratin related to necrosis and apoptosis pathways) in the proposed model of workers exposed to ELF-EMF week. © 2024 IEEE.

A large number of parts are used in the production activities of the assembly plant. The quantity and quality of these parts in the process of transportation, distribution, use, and recycling in the factory have an impact on production. With large amount of parts and tools, how to provide the right types and quantity of parts at the time and right location becomes the key to business success. The traditional method uses manpower which is costly and time-delayed. Previous single sensor monitoring has its own limitations. For example, weight recognition is hard to determine when multiple type items are mixed. Visual identification is susceptible to problems such as occlusion and difficulty in identifying dense areas and every item needs to be tagged by using RFID. Therefore, this paper introduces the multi-sensor method, which uses a mathematical approach to fuse weight and visual data to predict different types and quantities of parts in small containers. This study also provides a case study, simulated classification and counting of Aircraft General Standard(AGS) parts, which are mainly fasteners. They are small in size, expensive, and difficult to identify by a single sensor. Fusion results show up to 80% in average accuracy which is an improvement over single vision(73%) and weight detection up to 50%. © 2022 IEEE.

Comprehensive multimodal approach for Parkinson’s disease classification using artificial intelligence: insights and model explainability

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a debilitating neurodegenerative disorder affecting millions worldwide. Early detection is vital for effective management, yet remains challenging. In this study, we investigated four distinct datasets for PD detection. Through comprehensive experimentation employing ensemble methods and feature selection, we achieved high classification accuracies across the datasets. For the Oxford Parkinson’s Disease Detection Dataset, an accuracy of 95.67%, precision of 97.59%, recall of 84.5%, specificity of 99.32%, and F1-score of 90.57% were achieved. For the Alzheimer Parkinson Diseases 3 Class Dataset, the "Stacking" approach surpasses individual models, reaching an accuracy of 99.85%, precision of 99.81%, recall of 99.81%, specificity of 99.86%, and F1 of 99.81%. For the NewHandPD dataset, Regarding the Spiral category, The "Base-P32-384" model surpasses others with an accuracy of 97.35%, precision of 96.50%, recall of 98.57%, and F1-score of 97.53%. The collective "Stacking" approach proves highly effective regarding the Circle category, achieving 100% across all performance metrics. Regarding the Meander category, the "Base-P16-224" model achieves an accuracy of 97.35%, precision of 99.26%, recall of 95.71%, specificity of 99.19%, and F1 of 97.45%. The Mobile Device Voice Recordings at King’s College London (MDVR-KCL) dataset contains two datasets. Regarding the "SpontaneousDialogue" dataset, accuracy, BAC, precision, recall, specificity, and F1-score were computed, resulting in values of 94.03%, 92.83%, 90.78%, 100.0%, and 85.67%, respectively. Regarding the "ReadText" dataset, accuracy, BAC, precision, recall, specificity, and F1-score were computed, resulting in values of 91.89%, 90.62%, 87.5%, 100.0%, and 81.25%, respectively. Our findings highlight the efficacy of leveraging diverse data sources and advanced machine learning techniques to enhance PD detection accuracy. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germa
