Multi-object tracking (MOT) is one of the most important problems in computer vision and a key component of any vision-based perception system used in advanced autonomous mobile robotics. Therefore, its implementation on low-power and real-time embedded platforms is highly desirable. Modern MOT algorithms should be able to track objects of a given class (e.g. people or vehicles). In addition, the number of objects to be tracked is not known in advance, and they may appear and disappear at any time, as well as be obscured. For these reasons, the most popular and successful approaches have recently been based on the tracking paradigm. Therefore, the presence of a high quality object detector is essential, which in practice accounts for the vast majority of the computational and memory complexity of the whole MOT system. In this paper, we propose an FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) implementation of an embedded MOT system based on a quantized YOLOv8 detector and the SORT (Simple Online Realtime Tracker) tracker. We use a modified version of the FINN framework to utilize external memory for model parameters and to support operations necessary required by YOLOv8. We discuss the evaluation of detection and tracking performance using the COCO and MOT15 datasets, where we achieve 0.21 mAP and 38.9 MOTA respectively. As the computational platform, we use an MPSoC system (Zynq UltraScale+ device from AMD/Xilinx) where the detector is deployed in reprogrammable logic and the tracking algorithm is implemented in the processor system. © 2025, CC BY.

computer vision has gained great regard in the past few years and one of the most important branches of this field is object detection. It was usual to detect objects using visible images that need good illumination conditions to obtain high performance, but this type of images exhibits unsatisfactory attitude in bad environmental conditions and darkness situations. Other alternatives are emerging, such as infrared images which depend on the infrared radiation emitted or reflected from objects. Infrared imaging systems can be used in complete darkness, so the problem of visible images can be overcome. There are many object detection models which take images as an input and predict location and class type for each element in the image. So, a comparative study using deep learning based infrared object detection models (YOLOv3-4GB, YOLOv5s, YOLOv7) was performed. The models were trained on Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) dataset that contains 3 classes (person-car-bicycle). The YOLOv7 model attained the best performance and achieved Mean Average Precision (mAP) of 82.4%.

Multisensor fusion estimation of nonlinear systems with intermittent observations and heavy-tailed noises

Inspired by the robust student t-distribution based nonlinear filter(RSTNF), a student tdistribution and unscented transform(UT) based filter for state estimation of heavy-tailed nonlinear dynamic systems, a modified RSTNF for intermittent observations is derived. The fusion estimation for nonlinear multisensor systems with intermittent observations and heavy-tailed measurement and process noises is *** this work, the centralized fusion, the sequential fusion, and the na¨?ve distributed fusion algorithms are presented, respectively. Theoretical analysis shows that the presented algorithms are effective, which are the efficient extension of the classical unscented Kalman filter(UKF) or the cubature Kalman filter(CKF) based algorithms with Gaussian noises. Simulation results show that the presented algorithms are effective and feasible.

The research work presents a original solution for increasing the efficiency on management Supplied-Customer Services (SCS), based on a causal graph configuration. This approach expresses the connection, interaction, and collaboration between the two main actors, suppliers and consumers of goods and products. The causal graph model is intended for management of supply resources, production capacities, transport activities and customer demands. Initial configuration of this a priori generated graph includes the suppliers and consumers distributed in nodes and the interconnections expressed by the arches of the graph. A causal operator is introduced, which offer the efficient decisions propagation for the estimated solution of the supplier-customer services (SCS) problem. The customers can be served by the corresponding suppliers, or the suppliers must satisfy the services of the consumers, respectively. The road traffic is chosen for transport activities at a specific model to traffic network and appropriate control to avoid congestion and increase the real-time traffic performances for (SCS) management. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is visible on large structures of the supply-customer networks in different industrial and economic fields.

The Internet of Things(IoT)is a modern approach that enables connection with a wide variety of devices *** to the resource constraints and open nature of IoT nodes,the routing protocol for low power and lossy(RPL)networks may be vulnerable to several routing ***’s why a network intrusion detection system(NIDS)is needed to guard against routing assaults on RPL-based IoT *** imbalance between the false and valid attacks in the training set degrades the performance of machine learning employed to detect network ***,we propose in this paper a novel approach to balance the dataset classes based on metaheuristic optimization applied to locality-sensitive hashing and synthetic minority oversampling technique(LSH-SMOTE).The proposed optimization approach is based on a new hybrid between the grey wolf and dipper throated optimization *** prove the effectiveness of the proposed approach,a set of experiments were conducted to evaluate the performance of NIDS for three cases,namely,detection without dataset balancing,detection with SMOTE balancing,and detection with the proposed optimized LSHSOMTE *** results showed that the proposed approach outperforms the other approaches and could boost the detection *** addition,a statistical analysis is performed to study the significance and stability of the proposed *** conducted experiments include seven different types of attack cases in the RPL-NIDS17 *** on the 2696 CMC,2023,vol.74,no.2 proposed approach,the achieved accuracy is(98.1%),sensitivity is(97.8%),and specificity is(98.8%).

Achieving accurate electricity price prediction is essential for market participants aiming to maximize their profits. In this respect, forecasting wholesale electricity market price plays a pivotal role. The advanced nonlinear modeling capabilities of deep learning networks have shown notable success in forecasting electricity prices. However, designing such networks, particularly selecting their optimal hyperparameters, still remains a big challenge. This paper presents a Modified Sine Algorithm Dung Beetle Optimization algorithm (MSADBO) as an improved Dung Beetle Optimization (DBO) algorithm to optimize the hyperparameters of the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) neural network to handle the electricity price forecasting in the Italian wholesale market. After optimizing the three most important hyperparameters of the LSTM using MSADBO, the efficiency of the model has shown a drastic improvement. Comparisons with conventional and machine learning-based approaches show that the LSTM-MSADBO model is highly precise in predictions with increased robustness and effectively captures volatility in the electricity market price. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper studies cryptocurrency volatility forecast covering a state-of-the-art review as well empirical comparison through supervised learning. This research has two main objectives. The first objective is the usage of artificial intelligence in the field of predicting the volatility of cryptocurrencies, in particular bitcoin. In this work, supervised machine learning algorithms from two different perspectives, a statistical one and a deep learning one, are compared to predict bitcoin volatility using economic-financial variables as additional information in the models.
