This paper presents an optimisation method for the direct energy exchange between two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations located in the UK. Each EV charging station consists of solar panels, hydrogen and battery energy storage systems (SHBS). The stations are interconnected through a energy exchange system that enables the transfer of excess energy from one station to the other. The objective function of SHBS charging stations is to minimize the capital and operation and maintenance costs of the stations. The system constraints are the power output of individual components, as well as the power balance between SHBS charging stations and EV charging demand. Genetic Algorithm is used to optimize the system, considering various factors such as the size of the solar panels and hydrogen storage tanks, the capacity of the electric vehicle chargers, and the amount of energy exchanged between the two stations. The optimized system yields substantial cost savings. © 2023 IEEE.

Collaboration of agents in a natural swarm enables the accomplishment of tasks that would be difficult or impossible for a single agent to complete alone. For example, a swarm of autonomous Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) enables the collaborative sensing of bulky loads for transportation over impassable terrains when the load weighs several times more than each UAV. In this work, we propose a hierarchical algorithmic architecture that supports the search and coverage of various unknown payload profiles for subsequent transportation. The grasping formation of UAVs over the payload emerges from the synthetic behaviours in the architecture without any path planning. Experiments show that our proposed design can be successfully applied in searching and coverage of various loads and has been validated in the real world through the use of Crazyflie micro-UAVs. Furthermore, the proposed grasping formation satisfies static equilibrium thereby reducing orientation changes in the load-swarm system during transportation. © 2023 IEEE.

An important aspect related to the effects of agricultural activities on the environment is represented by the nutrient loss in water and air (specifically nitrogen). The interactions between catchments hydrological processes, management of farm activities, climate changes and nitrogen losses constitute a complex phenomenon yet not well understood, being an important concern from the sustainable agriculture perspective. Nitrogen can be lost with water as leaching or runoff, or as gas as ammonia volatilization. Nitrous oxide (N2O) is particularly problematic because it is also a powerful greenhouse gas. The goal of the current article is to present innovative digital techniques to advance in understanding of this phenomena through an Information System that integrates Artificial Intelligence techniques such as Semantic Technologies and Machine Learning (ML) into Cyber-Physical systems (CPS) to support smart farming and sustainable agriculture. © 2023 IEEE.

This study introduces a novel method for integrating Stratified Sampling for Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise (SS-DBSCAN) clustering with the human-in-the-loop approach to semi-supervised data labeling. We enhance the feature representation of text data using attention mechanisms, leading to the formation of more contextually relevant clusters. The clusters are then processed using SS-DBSCAN, where a custom similarity function aligns them closely with expert-labeled examples, facilitating efficient label propagation. Subsequently, human experts reevaluate the clustering outputs, refining the process by reassessing the feature similarities to the expert-labeled classes. This iterative process ensures high fidelity in label assignment and enhances the overall reliability of the semi-supervised learning approach. Applied to MIMIC III and Cancer Doc Classification datasets, this method not only aligns the data labels more closely with expert evaluations but also leverages human judgment to confirm the accuracy and reliability of the re-clustering process. Based on the BERT transformers model, the fine-tuned prediction model achieved 100% accuracy in predicting the correct label and evaluated the re-clustering technique's effectiveness, demonstrating 90.3% and 97.8% correctness in the re-clustered labels in MIMIC III and Cancer Doc Classification datasets, respectively. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Based on the time series online prediction model, this paper proposes a WE-OSELM online prediction algorithm, which can control the product life and performance in real time in the field of engine, and effectively manage huge system engineering. The prediction model is closely related to the actual application of system engineering product modules and has great operability. This paper proposes the IPW-OSELM algorithm and error compensation algorithm with information perception weight as the core point, and relies on a dual parallel single hidden layer feedforward neural network to efficiently integrate related algorithms to form a WE-OSLEM algorithm. Among them, the information perception weight clarifies the relationship between point similarity and regional similarity in the case of fluctuations in the effectiveness of the data characteristics of the prediction object or mutations in a limited range, so that the online prediction algorithm has a more acute data characteristic perception ability in the process of responding to changes in data characteristics. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper proposes a new disturbance observer (DO)-based reinforcement learning (RL) control approach for nonlinear systems with unmatched (generalized) disturbances. While a nonlinear disturbance observer (NDO) is utilized to measure the plant uncertainties, disturbances can exist in the plant via distinct channels from those of the control signals;so-called mismatched disturbances are theoretically difficult to attenuate within the channel of the system's states. A generalized disturbance observer-based compensator is implemented to address the uncertainty cancellation problem by removing the influence of uncertainties from the output channels. Con-currently, a composite actor-critic RL scheme is utilized for approximating the optimal control policy as well as the ideal value function pertaining to the compensated system by solving a Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation for both online and offline iterations simultaneously. Stability analysis verifies the convergence of the proposed framework. Simulation results are included to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. © 2024 IEEE.

This work studies the issue of remotely controlling a single room's temperature using a central heating system. The models of the components of the heating system setup are derived by equivalent electric circuits. The combined nonlinear description of the process is used to produce a linear approximant. A Proportional, Integral plus Derivative (PID) controller, located at a considerable distance from the process and receiving measurements and transmitting actuation signals via a wireless network, is designed based on the linear approximant and towards room temperature control. A metaheuristic approach, satisfying stability, approximate model matching, asymptotic command following, and disturbance attenuation, is used to calculate the controller parameters. The suggested scheme's performance is illustrated through simulations. © 2024 IEEE.

Sneak circuit analysis is a crucial reliability design process. In the design of spacecraft electronic systems, it is challenging to identify sneak circuits related to integrated chip interface circuits, and there are few targeted researches. In extreme working conditions, the coupling sneak circuits caused by the failure of integrated chips are difficult to identify, affecting the design optimization. The paper proposes a typical interface information specification model for integrated chips to simulate the electrical information characteristics of interfaces. And the typical failure models of intrinsic components inside the chip are determined through multi-physics field analysis. Then, based on the digital model, a sneak circuit diagnosis process based on excitation and fault injection are proposed, and a sneak circuit screening method based on Python virtual prototyping is implemented in the case study. Finally, the design constraint clues for the chip's external circuit are obtained, which provides a reference for related fault diagnosis and reliability optimization works. © 2024 IEEE.

This study presents the architecture and performance evaluation of a high-capacity free-space optical (FSO) communication system that makes use of dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) and a 1.28 Tb/s link. The system under consideration comprises 64 individual channels, each of which is capable of transferring data streams at a speed of 20 Gbps. A return-to-zero (RZ) line coding algorithm is incorporated to maximize performance across 2.0 km of FSO link. Important parameters that affect the system's performance, like beam divergence and atmosphere attenuation, are taken into account in the analysis. The signals' bit-error-rate (BER), quality factor (Q), and eye diagrams are calculated and examined to assess the system's performance. For future optical-wireless networks that require significant bandwidth capabilities, cost-effective implementation, and increased flexibility, this novel high-capacity design offers a promising solution. The results aid in the development of dependable and useful high-speed FSO communication systems. © 2024 IEEE.
