The article is devoted to the results of an experimental study the integrity, reliability and efficiency of the social network graph as a complex network in terms of transferring messages between users. The computed network parameters that affect the evaluation of the efficiency of its functioning are determined;the integral coefficient of network stability loss is developed;formulated heuristic rules for assessing the functional stability of a social network based on the parameters of the social graph are formulated. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The high concentration of fluoride (F-) ions in contaminated water has become an urgent challenge for public health and environmental safety. In this contribution, we adopted asymmetric flow electrode capacitive deionization (FCDI) technique to remove F- ions, selecting NiCo layered metal oxide/carbon black (NiCo-LMO/CB) and Prussian blue analogs (cobalt hexacyanocobaltate, CoHCC) as the flow anode and cathode materials, respectively. As expected, the NiCo-LMO/CB flow electrode demonstrated excellent performance in terms of F- removal efficiency (68.54%), F- adsorption capacity (13.78 mg/g), and energy consumption (5.39 J/mg) when treating 1000 mg/L NaF solution under 1.2 V cell voltage. Combining electrochemical characterizations with structural analysis, such excellent defluorination performance of NiCo-LMO/CB can be ascribed to both electrostatic attraction and flexible ions intercalation. Hopefully, this work provides new ideas for defluorination of high concentration fluoridated wastewater via adopting asymmetric FCDI. © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Groundbreaking applications such as ChatGPT have heightened research interest in generative artificial intelligence (GAI). Essentially, GAI excels not only in content generation but also signal processing, offering support for wireless sensing. Hence, we introduce a novel GAI-assisted human flow detection system (G-HFD). Rigorously, G-HFD first uses the channel state information (CSI) to estimate the velocity and acceleration of propagation path length change of the human induced reflection (HIR). Then, given the strong inference ability of the diffusion model, we propose a unified weighted conditional diffusion model (UW-CDM) to denoise the estimation results, enabling detection of the number of targets. Next, we use the CSI obtained by a uniform linear array with wavelength spacing to estimate the HIR’s time of flight and direction of arrival (DoA). In this process, UW-CDM solves the problem of ambiguous DoA spectrum, ensuring accurate DoA estimation. Finally, through clustering, G-HFD determines the number of subflows and the number of targets in each subflow, i.e., the subflow size. The evaluation based on practical downlink communication signals shows G-HFD’s accuracy of subflow size detection can reach 91%. This validates its effectiveness and underscores the significant potential of GAI in the context of wireless sensing. © 2024, CC BY.

Current source rectifiers offer advantageous features that make them attractive solutions for powering grid-connected high-power electrolysers. Being a single-stage step-down rectifier topology is particularly well-suited for the low voltage, high current characteristics of high-power electrolysers. This paper investigates the impact of electrolyser electrical behaviour on the operation of current source rectifiers and provides practical guidelines for their optimal sizing, aiming to enhance power quality while minimizing overall system costs. Requirements for both grid and electrolyser sides are defined, and key considerations for sizing converter elements such as semiconductors, input LC filter, output dc inductance, and power transformer are discussed. Through optimal sizing of these components, it is demonstrated that high switching frequency IGBT-based current source rectifiers can emerge as cost-effective solutions for industrial high-power electrolyser applications.

ECGs objectively reflects the working conditions of the hearts as these signals contain vast physiological and pathological information. In this work, in order to improve the efficiency and accuracy of "best so far" time series analysis-based ECG anomaly detection methods, a novel method, comprising a modified dynamic time warping (MDTW) and an innovative average non-self match distance (ANSD) measure, is proposed for ECG anomaly detection. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, the proposed method is applied to real ECG data selected from the MIT-BIH heartbeat database. To provide a reference for comparison, two existing anomaly detection methods, namely, brute force discord discovery (BFDD) and adaptive window discord discovery (AWDD), are also applied to the same data. The experimental results show that our proposed method outperforms BFDD and AWD. © 2021, CC BY-NC-ND.

This paper considers coordination control of double-integrator systems and proposes general control laws involving time-varying inputs. The nominal control input is weighted by time-varying (time-dependent or state-dependent) positive definite matrices, providing more freedoms in defining the control tasks. We present sufficient conditions to ensure the asymptotic convergence of double-integrator networked systems in this context, and support the theoretical results by several application examples. This includes distance-based multi-agent formation control and power network systems with unknown inertia matrices.

Defect engineering in metal oxides presents a promising approach for tailoring material properties. This strategy enhances gas sorption, catalysis, and control over key physical characteristics such as bandgap, magnetic behavior, and electrical conductivity. Despite its potential, the role of defect engineering in advancing metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) gas-sensing performance remains underexplored. This review introduces defect engineering strategies, emphasizing their applications in gas sensing. Gas sensors play a vital role in environmental monitoring, industrial safety, healthcare, and in improving energy efficiency. The demand for advanced gas sensors has never been more critical, given the need for real-time, accurate, and cost-effective detection of pollutant gases. MOS-based gas sensors are widely used in air quality monitoring, industrial safety, and health diagnostics. Vacancies and defect architectures in MOS have been widely studied for their role in sensing performance, as they fundamentally influence sensor efficiency. The effectiveness of MOS sensors largely depends on the type and concentration of defects. This review introduces vacancies and defects in MOS, followed by an in-depth discussion of defect types, factors influencing defect formation, and their role in charge transport. Additionally, it examines the correlation between elemental chemical properties and defect chemistry. Special attention is given to the defect chemistry of metal oxides, including TiO₂, ZnO, Co₃O₄, ZrO₂, WO₃, and CeO₂. It concludes with an examination of surface engineering methods for defect control to improve gas-sensing capabilities. © 2024

In many cases, the primary transducer (PT) of a physical quantity sensor converts (normalizes) a variable physical quantity into an electrical signal. The dynamic error of the PT is determined by the delay time in the PT and the first derivative of the signal. In this article, the amplitude-frequency response (AFR) of the PT was approximated by the frequency response of the Butterworth filter. The use of application programs made it possible to obtain numerical estimates of the delay time in the PT. For the case of the unlimited spectrum under consideration, the first derivative of the PT signal does not differ from the value obtained using the Bernstein inequality. The final calculations showed a significant effect of the dynamic error on the total error of the PT. © 2020 IEEE.

Efficient and accurate segmentation of the point cloud for indoor scenes is an important task for 3D scene understanding. Due to the complexity of indoor environments. It is difficult to fully extract the details of point cloud, resulting in poor recognizability in existing models. In this paper, a novel framework called joint semantic-instance segmentation via enhancedutilization of neighbor features is proposed to achieve semantic and instance segmentation of indoor scenes. This framework mines point cloud information from a local scale, but it is different from other models in that it focuses on the full mining of point cloud neighbor information. In this regard, a new neighbor feature extraction module is developed to enrich the expression of neighborhood information and enlarge the construction of the neighborhood neighbor scope. Besides, semantic and instance segmentations take advantages of each other by constructing a mutual promotion model of semantic and instance, which can obtain more accurate semantic and instance predictions for indoor scenes. The proposed scheme is evaluated on the S3DIS dataset and compared with existing methods. Experimental results demonstrate that this method is more effective and efficient than previous approaches in joint 3D semantic and instance segmentation. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper considers distributed nonconvex op-timization for minimizing the average of local cost functions, by using local information exchange over undirected communication networks. Since the communication channels often have limited bandwidth or capacity, we first introduce a quantization rule and an encoder/decoder scheme to reduce the transmission bits. By integrating them with a distributed algorithm, we then propose a distributed quantized nonconvex optimization algorithm. Assuming the global cost function satisfies the Polyak– Łojasiewicz condition, which does not require the global cost function to be convex and the global minimizer is not necessarily unique, we show that the proposed algorithm linearly converges to a global optimal point. Moreover, a low data rate is shown to be sufficient to ensure linear convergence when the algorithm parameters are properly chosen. The theoretical results are illustrated by numerical simulation examples.
