Carbon neutrality goals are driving the increased use of renewable energy (RE). Large-scale use of RE requires accurate energy generation forecasts; optimized power dispatch, which minimizes costs while satisfying operational constraints; effective system control to ensure a stable power supply; and electricity markets that support bidding and trading decisions associated with RE. However, the uncertainties in RE generation make renewable power systems challenging to operate. For example, the intermittent nature of wind power can make it difficult to balance the supply and demand of electricity in real time; therefore, traditional power sources could be needed to meet the demand, which can increase electricity prices. This Review outlines the potential of artificial intelligence-based methods for supporting renewable power system operation. We discuss the ability of machine learning, deep learning and reinforcement learning methods to facilitate power system forecasts, dispatch, control and markets to support the use of RE. We also emphasize the applicability of these techniques to different operational problems. Finally, we discuss potential trends in renewable power system development and approaches to address the associated operational challenges such as the increasingly distributed nature of RE installations, diversification of energy storage systems and growing market complexity.

Multiple Faults Estimation in Dynamical systems: Tractable Design and Performance Bounds

We propose a tractable nonlinear fault estimation filter along with explicit performance bounds for a class of linear dynamical systems in the presence of both additive and non-linear multiplicative faults. We consider the case where both faults may occur simultaneously and through an identical dynamical relationship, a setting that is relevant to several application domains including automotive driving, aviation, and chemical plants. The proposed filter architecture combines tools from model-based approaches in the control literature and regression techniques from machine learning. To this end, we view the regression operator through a system-theoretic perspective to develop operator bounds that are then utilized to derive performance bounds for the proposed estimation filter. In the case of constant, simultaneously, and identically acting additive and multiplicative faults, it can be shown that the estimation error converges to zero with an exponential rate. The performance of the proposed estimation filter in the presence of incipient faults is validated through an application on the lateral safety systems of SAE level 4 automated vehicles. The numerical results show that the theoretical bounds of this study are indeed close to the actual estimation error. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Generator excitation control method based on iterative learning control with initial state learning and model-free adaptive grey prediction control

In a synchronous generator excitation control system, the damping capacity of the system is generally weakened during high-accuracy regulation of terminal voltage, which is against system stability. In this study, an excitation control method based on iterative learning control (ILC) with initial state learning and model-free adaptive grey prediction control (MFAGPC) was proposed to achieve high-accuracy voltage regulation and system stability. Based on the third-order dynamic model of generators, an excitation control system was constructed. The system used ILC as primary controller and MFAGPC as secondary controller to design the terminal voltage and rotor speed, respectively. Furthermore, the influences of ILC and MFAGPC on the regulation accuracy of terminal voltage and system stability were discussed. The proposed control method was validated by simulation and experimentation. The results demonstrate that under the conventional PID+PSS, the overshoot and settling time of the terminal voltage are 32% and 2.6s, and the rotor speed undergoes 6 oscillations in 4.3s before the system returns to a stable state. Due to the synergic effect of ILC and MFAGPC, the overshoot and settling time of the terminal voltage are 7% and 0.7s, and the rotor speed just undergoes 3 oscillations in 2.5s before the system returns to steady state. The proposed control method assures that the system achieves adequate regulation accuracy of terminal voltage in a short time, overcomes influences of internal and external disturbances on the system, and enhances system stability. This paper presents a new System designing method for job recommendation of College Graduates based on hadoop in China. With the enlargement of the scale of Chinese graduates and the improvement of the employing demand of enterprises, the employment situation of college graduates is becoming more and more serious. College graduates can't get satisfactory job, while enterprises can't recruit suitable graduates. In order to improve the satisfaction and efficiency of college graduates employment and enterprise recruitment, an intelligent employment recommendation system was designed in this paper which was based on collaborative filtering recommendation framework Mahout. With the system, the intelligent recommendation mechanism of schools, enterprises and graduates could be realized, and the employment efficiency, the satisfaction of college graduates and the efficiency of recruiting enterprises could be effectively improved. It is beneifiet to the employment department of colleges and universities in predicting employment trends and cultivating the students Abstract. © 2019 IEEE.

Conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs) as a new type of conjugated polymers have attracted extensive attention in academia and industry because of the combination of microporous structure and π-electron conjugated structure. The construction and application of gels and monoliths based on CMPs constitute a fertile area of research, promising to provide solutions to complex environmental and energy issues. This review summarizes and objectively analyzes the latest advances in the construction and application of processable CMP gels and monoliths, linking the basic and enhanced properties to widespread applications. In this review, we open with a summary of the construction methods used to build CMP gels and monoliths and assess the feasibility of different preparation techniques and the advantages of the products. The CMP gels and monoliths with enhanced properties involving various special applications are then deliberated by highlighting relevant scientific literature and discussions. Finally, we present the issues and future of openness in the field, as well as come up with the major challenges hindering further development, to guide researchers in this field.

Formation control with obstacle avoidance of second-order multi-agent systems under directed communication topology

This paper addresses the obstacle avoidance problem of formation control for the multi-agent systems modeled by double integrator dynamics under a directed interconnection topology. The control task is finished by a leader-follower formation scheme combined with an artificial potential field(APF) *** leader-follower scheme is carried out by taking the desired trajectory with the desired velocity as virtual leader, while the APF method is carried out by dealing with the obstacles as the high potential points. When the obstacle avoidance tasks are finished, the artificial potential forces degrade the formation performance, so their undesired effects are treated as disturbances, which is analyzed by the robust H∞performance. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, it is proved that the proposed formation approach can realize the control objective. The result is also extended to the switching multi-agent formation. The effectiveness of the proposed formation scheme is further confirmed by simulation studies.

With the rapid development and widespread application of Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs), IMU-based human localization has become critically important in environments lacking Global Navigation Satellite systems (GNSS) signals. Methods such as UWB/WIFI and other anchor-based localization have been employed to enhance the positioning accuracy. However, these methods are susceptible to the environmental interference and increased costs. In contrast, SINS-based localization methods eliminate reliance on the external data. However, this method can suffer from drift errors due to cumulative integration errors. Inertial navigation error correction techniques like Zero Detection Update technology (ZUPT) provide potential solutions to address drift errors. This paper proposes an error correction method based on the multithreshold zero-velocity detection and Square Root Cubature Kalman Filter (SRCKF) updates. Compared to the single fixed threshold detection, the multi-threshold zero-velocity detection reduces the likelihood of missed zero velocity detection and false alarms, providing accurate time intervals for error correction. Experimental results demonstrate that the SRCKF-based algorithm reduces position deviation to approximately 0.3146 meters, corresponding to an error ratio of1.14%. The proposed method enables cost-effective and accurate pedestrian localization, driving advancements in the field.

This paper presents the system design, algorithms and user applications for the temperature-controlled enclosure calibration and testing processes. The system works as an IoT-based real-time temperature steady-state detection and monitoring system. The main goals of this research are divided into four parts. The first one is to design a networked calibration system that can perform multiple devices calibrating and testing at the same time. The system utilizes Modbus and Internet-based Wireless communication networks. The second one is to study and implement an appropriate algorithm that can detect the temperature steady-state of the temperature-controlled enclosure devices connected in the network. This proposed algorithm, the steady-state detector is implemented based on a low-pass filter and finite-state machine approaches. It is implemented using TypeScript, the strongly typed JavaScript. The third one is to design and implement web and mobile that supported applications used as real-time data visualization and user interface. The application is employed with development languages, including HTML, CSS, and TypeScript. The last one is to design and develop a web-based application to evaluate and deliver a technical report of the calibration and testing. The TypeScript files are exploited for the steady-state detector and applications are transpiled to common JavaScript that can perform directly in all browsers. The proposed system is evaluated in the real-use environment with various possible conditions. The experimental results validate the effectiveness of both system architecture, algorithm and user applications, offering overall performance comparable with legacy manual calibrating, testing and reporting processes. In particular, the normalized error (E n ) between manual and the proposed system significantly different (E n > 1), namely 95% confidence interval, thus widely satisfying requirements imposed by standardization bodies.

Differential-geometric decomposition of flat nonlinear discrete-time systems

We prove that every flat nonlinear discrete-time system can be decomposed by coordinate transformations into a smaller-dimensional subsystem and an endogenous dynamic feedback. For flat continuous-time systems, no comparable result is available. The advantage of such a decomposition is that the complete system is flat if and only if the subsystem is flat. Thus, by repeating the decomposition at most n − 1 times, where n is the dimension of the state space, the flatness of a discrete-time system can be checked in an algorithmic way. If the system is flat, then the algorithm yields a flat output which only depends on the state variables. Hence, every flat discrete-time system has a flat output which does not depend on the inputs and their forward-shifts. Again, no comparable result for flat continuous-time systems is available. The algorithm requires in each decomposition step the construction of state- and input transformations, which are obtained by straightening out certain vector fields or distributions with the flow-box theorem or the Frobenius theorem. Thus, from a computational point of view, only the calculation of flows and the solution of algebraic equations is needed. We illustrate our results by two examples. © 2019, CC BY.
