In this paper we propose an original distributed control framework for DC mcirogrids. We first formulate the (optimal) control objectives as an aggregative game suitable for the energy trading market. Then, based on the dual theory, we analyze the equivalent distributed optimal condition for the proposed aggregative game and design a distributed control scheme to solve it. By interconnecting the DC mcirogrid and the designed distributed control system in a power preserving way, we steer the DC microgrid's state to the desired optimal equilibrium, satisfying a predefined set of local and coupling constraints. Finally, based on the singular perturbation system theory, we analyze the convergence of the closed-loop system. Global agriculture is facing major challenges such as food security, sustainable water management, and the preservation of natural resources. Water scarcity, exacerbated by climate change, requires adopting more efficient agricultural practices. Traditional irrigation systems, often imprecise, contribute to water wastage. The use of embedded systems and machine learning offers a solution for optimizing irrigation according to local conditions and actual crop needs while contributing to food security and environmental sustainability. This study proposes an innovative approach to irrigation management, integrating real-time data and predictive models to improve irrigation efficiency. This study proposes an irrigation system based on embedded systems, using sensors and algorithms to collect and analyze data in order to optimize water management. The system adjusts irrigation levels according to specific crop needs, thus contributing to more sustainable water management. Using ML algorithms like linear regression algorithms to model the relationships between environmental factors and crop water requirements, enabling accurate prediction of required irrigation levels based on data collected by sensors. The use of embedded systems such as the ESP32, combined with temperature, humidity, and water level sensors, has enabled the development of an autonomous and efficient system for collecting data in real-time and processing it for decision-making. The proposed model has an MAE of 0.8434, an RMSE of 0.8434, and a coefficient (R2 Score) of 0.4044, offering soil moisture prediction accuracy. Furthermore, the training time of our model is 0.00253 seconds, while the prediction time is 0.00117 seconds. These results show not only the performance of the proposed model in terms of accuracy but also its computational efficiency, outperforming some of the studies mentioned. TextBenDS: A generic textual data benchmark for distributed systems

Extracting top-k keywords and documents using weighting schemes are popular techniques employed in text mining and machine learning for different analysis and retrieval tasks. The weights are usually computed in the data preprocessing step, as they are costly to update and keep track of all the modifications performed on the dataset. Furthermore, computation errors are introduced when analyzing only subsets of the dataset. Therefore, in a Big Data context, it is crucial to lower the runtime of computing weighting schemes, without hindering the analysis process and the accuracy of the machine learning algorithms. To address this requirement for the task of top-k keywords and documents, it is customary to design benchmarks that compare weighting schemes within various configurations of distributed frameworks and database management systems. Thus, we propose a generic document-oriented benchmark for storing textual data and constructing weighting schemes (TextBenDS). Our benchmark offers a generic data model designed with a multidimensional approach for storing text documents. We also propose using aggregation queries with various complexities and selectivities for constructing term weighting schemes, that are utilized in extracting top-k keywords and documents. We evaluate the computing performance of the queries on several distributed environments set within the Apache Hadoop ecosystem. Our experimental results provide interesting insights. As an example, MongoDB proves to have the best overall performance, while Spark's execution time remains almost the same, regardless of the weighting schemes. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. The forgotten document-oriented database management systems: An overview and benchmark of native XML DODBMSes in comparison with JSON DODBMSes

In the current context of Big Data, a multitude of new NoSQL solutions for storing, managing, and extracting information and patterns from semi-structured data have been proposed and implemented. These solutions were developed to relieve the issue of rigid data structures present in relational databases, by introducing semi-structured and flexible schema design. As current data generated by different sources and devices, especially from IoT sensors and actuators, use either XML or JSON format, depending on the application, database technologies that store and query semi-structured data in XML format are needed. Thus, Native XML Databases, which were initially designed to manipulate XML data using standardized querying languages, i.e., XQuery and XPath, were rebranded as NoSQL Document-Oriented Databases systems. Currently, the majority of these solutions have been replaced with the more modern JSON based Database Management systems. However, we believe that XML-based solutions can still deliver performance in executing complex queries on heterogeneous collections. Unfortunately nowadays, research lacks a clear comparison of the scalability and performance for database technologies that store and query documents in XML versus the more modern JSON format. Moreover, to the best of our knowledge, there are no Big Data-compliant benchmarks for such database technologies. In this paper, we present a comparison for selected Document-Oriented Database systems that either use the XML format to encode documents, i.e., BaseX, eXist-db, and Sedna, or the JSON format, i.e., MongoDB, CouchDB, and Couchbase. To underline the performance differences we also propose a benchmark that uses a heterogeneous complex schema on a large DBLP corpus. © 2021, CC BY.

Rocker-bogie is kind of suspension system where wheels from each side of the vehicle are connected with swingarm on the rotary axle. Both levers are connected with a differential mechanism. If the vehicle has not had turnable wheels and turns only using the velocity or heading difference of each side or the object, then increased traction on the most loaded wheels causes lifting of the swingarms in opposing directions. This situation is undesirable because it leads to the high inclination of the vehicle's body and threatens to fall over. This article shows the way of active adjusting each wheel's speed to avoid swingarms lifting. Presented algorithm increases or decreases the angular velocity of selected wheels depending on the robot's rotation speed, acceleration, and traction. Parameters are calculated from the velocity of swingarm lift angle changes compared to the vehicle's relative rotation speed. Theoretical description presents the geometry of vehicle suspension, used sensors, and wheels speed control circuitry. The algorithm is implemented on an existing vehicle, and experimental part contains a comparison of behavior with and without active control on different surfaces. © 2019 IEEE.

This paper presents a high-performance nonlinear control strategy for a three-phase, two-level boost Power Factor Correction (PFC) rectifier. The proposed control method aims to achieve superior performance in terms of power factor correction, output voltage regulation, and dynamic response under various operating conditions. Utilizing advanced nonlinear control techniques, the system ensures optimal tracking of the reference signals, minimizing total harmonic distortion (THD) and improving overall efficiency. The effectiveness of the control strategy is validated through extensive simulations and experimental results, demonstrating significant improvements in the transient and steady-state performance of the rectifier. This approach provides a robust and efficient solution for PFC applications in modern power electronics systems.

PoCET: a Polynomial Chaos Expansion Toolbox for Matlab

We introduce PoCET: a free and open-scource Polynomial Chaos Expansion Toolbox for Matlab, featuring the automatic generation of polynomial chaos expansion (PCE) for linear and nonlinear dynamic systems with time-invariant stochastic parameters or initial conditions, as well as several simulation tools. It offers a built-in handling of Gaussian, uniform, and beta probability density functions, projection and collocation-based calculation of PCE coefficients, and the calculation of stochastic moments from a PCE. Efficient algorithms for the calculation of the involved integrals have been designed in order to increase its applicability. PoCET comes with a variety of introductory and instructive examples. Throughout the paper we show how to perform a polynomial chaos expansion on a simple ordinary differential equation using PoCET, as well as how it can be used to solve the more complex task of optimal experimental design.

A two-level identification model for selecting the coordination strategy for the urban arterial road based on fuzzy logic

A novel model for identifying the traffic condition of urban arterial roadways is proposed in this paper to improve the operational efficiency and safety of the urban traffic arterial road system. During the identification process, fuzzy analytic hierarchy process and fuzzy integrated evaluation are employed to identify the traffic condition on the arterial road;according to the fuzzy logic scheme, a proper coordination strategy is then generated based on the resulting identification of each way of the artery. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, a numerical experiment is carried out by using the microscopic traffic simulation software VISSIM, where a traffic flow simulation system is generated according to the real-time traffic data. The comparison results show that the proposed model works well to fit with the actual operating condition of the arterial traffic and the proposed coordination strategy can provide a better performance for the traffic management. Spacecraft solar arrays convert sunlight into electrical energy to fulfil the energy requirements of various missions. This work proposes a comprehensive environment for accurate power operation predictions. Specifically, this environment simulates the behaviour of a body-mounted solar array. Furthermore, the designing and modelling processes of the solar array require considering different technical and practical constraints posed by the space environment. These challenges necessitate a thorough evaluation of all potential sources of losses and degradation. Compared to conventional approaches, our novel SSA model incorporates the complete spacecraft mission design scenario, thus it incorporates the operational cyclogram and power budget calculation. To substantiate our proposed method, telemetry data from the commercial LEOS-50 platform is leveraged to develop an experimental, mathematical, and thermal in-orbit model based on GaAs technology. This approach stands out for its exceptional accuracy in predicting the output power characteristics of solar panels. Therefore, it ensures achieving mission requirements from inception to completion in the beginning-of-life and end-of-life stages. The results demonstrate the success of the SSA operation in converting sunlight into electrical energy with a high conversion rate. © 2025 The Authors
