The paper presents a simple method for obstacle detection and avoidance. The system can be applied for unmanned multirotors and is based on laser scanner detections. What is more, the proposed system supports the pilot during the manual flights. The proposed simple obstacle detection and avoidance algorithm was described in details. The main aim of the work was the in-flight test. The results were presented in the UAV trajectories plot and PWM control signal time plots. Obtained results validate the effectiveness of the proposed collision avoidance method. The described approach helps to ensure collision free conditions for UAV operators.

This paper presents the identification process of the electric propulsion system for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. Prepared identification test rig was described in details. It allows to control the electric motor with a propeller and to measure the parameters like thrust force, torque, current and supply voltage, that were used during identification. The worked out and presented identification test helps to check and verify the electric propulsion properties and to develop more accurate simulation models of UAVs.

In the first section of the article the topic essentials and the motivation for research are described. The following paragraphs are focused over the topic of construction issues and experimental studies over the designed system. This paper presents the application of a new method for controlling the formation flight of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. Proposed algorithm is based on the leader follower configuration and uses the potential field to determinate desired heading for the follower UAV. Synthesis of the vector field control algorithm is closely described and presented in details. Proposed controlsystem was carefully checked and verified during Hardware in The Loop (HIL) tests. During the HIL flights the longitudinal and lateral positions of the UAVs (Leader and Follower), orientation angles (pitch, roll, yaw), angular velocities (pitch rate, roll rate, yaw rate) and many other flight parameters were stored and logged. Obtained results validate the effectiveness of the potential field based formation flight control method.

The timber's drying process is a mandatory operation before any action of the wood processing. In the recent years, the fundamental research in the field of timber's drying has made progress, the physical laws regarding the removal of the water from the wood through different procedures (convection, vacuum, microwave etc.) being elucidated. The using of the calculus techniques allows the accurate simulation of heat and mass transfer phenomena, as well as of the mechanical aspects (internal stresses, deformations), which accompany the wood's drying process. The paper presents the implementation of the monitoring and the controlsystem of the timber's conventional drying, using programmable controllers (Siemens), dedicated devices and dedicated software (Step 7).

The paper discusses the application of system on Chip devices for processing Megapixel video streams. The domain of image processing using high resolution images is very demanding in the scope of calculating power and frequently exploits special processing hardware. The progress of integration technology brings about SoC which are capable of meeting such processing demands. Characteristics of FPGA and DSP based systems are assessed. A concise survey of chip solutions is presented and a pair of representative systems is chosen for comparison of their properties. The design of a smoke detection system is used for evaluating the advantages and drawbacks of using such SoC solutions. Almost identical image processing algorithms are implemented in the case of FPGA and DSP. Both solutions meet the image processing requirements and are suitable for real time processing. FPGA based solution is much faster as it uses pipelining for improving the utilisation of scarce memory resources.
