The stabilisation problem of linear, time-invariant, large-scale, composite systems with delays in the interconnections without any additional assumption on system structure are considered. It is shown basically that time-delays in the interconnections do not create additional difficulties. The main results presented demonstrate that stabilisation control by the local memoryless state feedback for this class of systems is always possible.

This paper considers the problem of globally asymptotic stabilization of multi-input multi-output bilinear systems with undamped natural response. It firstly presents a simple sufficient condition for construction of a static state feedback controller. Then under an additional condition on system detectability, two output dynamic feedback controllers with saturation bounded control are constructed. The globally asymptotic stability of the closed loop systems using these controllers are established by using Lyapunov stability approach.

The problem of deadlock in a large class of re-entrant flowline systems is analysed. Based on a Petri net (PN) model, circular blocking is rigorously defined and shown to be equivalent to part-path deadlock. The analysis is performed in terms of circular waits. Coupling the PN marking transition equation with the matrix rule-based controller equation yields a dynamical system representation, a framework in which algorithms of polynomial complexity can be developed for computing the structures of deadlock analysis. This allows efficient dispatching with deadlock avoidance using a generalised kanban scheme.

Simultaneous state estimation and parameter tracking of time varying input-output ARMAX model with known noise parameters was described recently. Optimal control strategies of such model are developed in this contribution. Certainty equivalent and cautious LQ strategies (Linear system and Quadratic criterion) are obtained. Certainty equivalent strategies operate with state and parameter means only and so neglect the uncertainty while cautious strategies take parameter and state estimation uncertainty into the consideration.

This paper studies the problem of an H/sub /spl infin//-norm and variance-constrained state estimator design for uncertain linear discrete-time systems. The system under consideration is subjected to time-invariant norm-bounded parameter uncertainties in both the state and measurement matrices. The problem addressed is the design of a gain-scheduled linear state estimator such that, for all admissible measurable uncertainties, the variance of the estimation error of each state is not more than the individual prespecified value, and the transfer function from disturbances to error state outputs satisfies the prespecified H/sub /spl infin//-norm upper bound constraint, simultaneously. The conditions for the existence of desired estimators are obtained in terms of matrix inequalities, and the explicit expression of these estimators is also derived. A numerical example is provided to demonstrate various aspects of theoretical results.

The subject of this paper is a system of rigid interconnected bodies in which there are neighbouring bodies that, related to one another, rolling and touch at one point. Assuming that these bodies are of arbitary shape, the transformation matrix and equations describing non-slipping condition between bodies, as well as angular velocity and angular acceleration are formed in this paper. Analytical expression of the above mentioned kinematic characteristics are thus written so as to enable making a programme for their formation in symbolic fonn, in which the only inputs are parameter equations of surfaces of these bodies. Objet d'etude de cet oeuvre est le système de corps rigides liés entre eux, dans lequel existent aussi les corps voisins roulant les uns par rapport aux autres sans glissement et réalisent le contact en un point. Supposant la diffe'rence des formes de ces corps, dans cet oeuvre est formée une matrice de transformation et la condition de non glissement entre les corps, vitesse angulaire et accélération angulaire. Les expressions analytiques des caractéristiques cinématiques citées ci-haut sont de telle forme qui rend possible la réalisation de programme pour leur présentation en forme symbolique, dans lequel les données d entrée uniques sont les equations des parameters des surfaces de ces corps.
