COVID-19, which stands for Coronavirus disease 2019, is an infection caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), first reported in December 2019 in Wuhan, China. The new coronavirus has spread rapidly around the world, causing extensive deaths, and turning into a new global public health crisis. This paper proposes a prototype system to assist medical staff in identifying and monitoring COVID-19 symptoms by measuring vital signs. This study aims to help prevent hospitalization of patients in the ICU by continuously monitoring the patient's vital signs, which allows medical staff to diagnose the patient's health at the appropriate time. The use of sensors has grown in many areas over the past decade, especially in wearable healthcare devices. In this paper, the hardware components, and the design structure of the bracelet have been presented. The bracelet is responsible for measuring and transferring vital signs like body temperature, oxygen saturation, and heart rate to the Base control Unit. The Max 30100 and DS18B20 sensors are used to read the vital signs of the patient and transmit them to the microcontroller inside the bracelet. The microcontroller will send vital signs data to the Raspberry Pi to analyse, process, save, and display. The design and implementation of this bracelet have been done by developing a 3D printed model after examining several models on people of different ages. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper presents the performance analysis and the most significant design decisions taken to improve the runtime performance of a quality-diversity volume rendering framework, focusing on using parallel and distributed computing to optimize specific stages within the framework pipeline. After considering the benefits and trade-offs of several aspects like minimization of execution time, portability and hardware independence, we developed a hybrid CPU-GPU parallel computing model that increased the overall efficiency. Using this model, we achieved significant improvement in runtime speed for critical components of the framework compared to the sequential implementation. Additionally, this model can be applied in a wide range of scenarios, where the performance improvements provided by GPU processing can be complemented by CPU parallelization, with better runtime results.

This paper presents a blockchain-based platform for managing and issuing academic certificates that features security, transparency, non-repudiation and traceability. Relying on the security provided by Ethereum blockchain and using asymmetrical cryptography in certificate generation, combined with certificate revocation mechanisms, the proposed platform offers a reliable, decentralized and secure solution that can be used by academic institutions to streamline the management of academic certificates and reduce bureaucracy.

This paper presents an algorithmic approach for segmenting news broadcasts produced by television stations. The proposed approach uses advanced signal processing techniques to extract and classify audio segments from Romanian TV news broadcasts. By using derivative of 1-dimensional Gaussian filter and binary classification models, this paper aims to automatically identify and classify news segments into categories such as studio news, field news, commercials and music breaks. The primary objective of this paper is to develop a segmentation methodology optimized for reduced computational memory and quick processing. By leveraging efficient computational techniques, the news segmentation can be performed in a timely manner without compromising accuracy. This optimization is crucial for real-time or near-real-time applications within TV networks, facilitating tasks such as content monitoring and analysis.

The aim of the project was to build a prototype of a turbine drive with a controllable thrust vector for a long-range vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft. The construction of the prototype required the development of a vectoring system for the tail propulsion system and a dedicated VTOL aircraft stabilization and control system. The prototype of the turbine drive system was based on energy-efficient electric motors. Research also involved modeling the turbine propulsion aerodynamics with usage of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis. This paper describes the design and software implementation of a wearable prototype that allows users to monitor the vital signs of COVID-19 patients in quarantine areas. This prototype consists of two parts, the bracelet, andthe Base control unit (BCU). The bracelet is built with ESP8266 and sensors as main components, as well as the battery and other parts needed to fulfill the system's purpose (monitoring the vital signs of COVID-19 patients). At the same time, the Raspberry Pi (SCB) single board computer and GSM/GPRS/HAT are the main components of the Basic control Unit (BCU). The current work describes the main parts of the pseudocode, as well as the activity diagram for the microcontroller and Raspberry Pi. This paper describes the mechanism of sending alert messages, whereby the system's ability to configure two types of alert messages;(1) physician Messages (these Messages will be sent to the physicianassociated with the patient if one or more vital signs reach a critical value;these messages contain all measurements of a patient's vital signs);(2) Authorize messages (these messages will be sent if the quarantine rules are violated;the patient's location will be sent to the authorized person as a Google Mapslink). Also, this paper describes the graphical user interface for communication, management,. and interaction between the users of the system. © 2022 IEEE.

Accurate heading control is the premise for underwater vehicles to complete underwater operations. In order to improve the performance of heading control, this paper proposes a heading control strategy based on PID-fuzzy switching. First, the force analysis of the steering motion was carried out to derive the dynamics model of the steering motion. Then, the whole heading control process is divided into two phases, steering phase and holding phase. Fuzzy control is used in the steering phase, and PID control is used in the holding phase. By setting the automatic switching switch, the control system can switch freely between the two to meet the needs of system adjustment under different errors. Finally, the performance of the established heading control system is verified through motion control simulations and pool experiments, and the proposed control strategy is compared with other methods. The results show that the control strategy can effectively achieve ROV heading control with good steady-state accuracy, and the overall performance has been greatly improved. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

In this paper,a new distributed consensus tracking protocol incorporating local disturbance rejection is devised for a multi-agent system with heterogeneous dynamic uncertainties and disturbances over a directed *** is of two-degree-of-freedom ***,a robust distributed controller is designed for consensus tracking,while a local disturbance estimator is designed for each agent without requiring the input channel information of *** condition for asymptotic disturbance rejection is ***,even when the disturbance model is not exactly known,the developed method also provides good disturbance-rejection ***,a robust stabilization condition with less conservativeness is derived for the whole multi-agent ***,a design algorithm is ***,comparisons with the conventional one-degree-of-freedombased distributed disturbance-rejection method for mismatched disturbances and the distributed extended-state observer for matched disturbances validate the developed method.

This paper presents a dynamic model of a magnetic levitation system (Maglev) and suggests a Fuzzy Tuning of a proportional—integral--derivative controller (PID) that uses a fuzzy approach system to determine the PID controller's settings. The controller allows a steel ball to be suspended in free fall in the chosen position in reference to the electromagnet bottom end. The electromagnet levitation system can be controlled with a traditional PID controller, however because of the highly nonlinear of this system, it is unpredictable in the case of load and air gap changes. The fuzzy rules are developed to fuzzy tune PID while considering the control response and behavior of the system to find a solution to this problem. This paper shows excellent stability, rising time, settling time overshoot, and robust response results. The results reveal that this fuzzy PID controller solution can stabilize the ball's location and has strong disturbance rejection. The real time platform is designed for educational laboratory and test all the proposed control systems. © 2022, Politechnica University of Bucharest. All rights reserved.

This paper presents a RISC-V extension, called RiscDaqExt designed for Digital Acquisition and control over 32 individually managed digital channels. Each channel can be configured as input or output, inputs can be negated or filtered before being recorded using specific masks and output channels source can be chosen between values given with a mask, result of a multi-signal operation on specified inputs or a PWM signal generated by the SigWavy extension. The extension is also capable of measuring PWMs frequencies and duty cycles. The extension is controlled using a dedicated ISA extension containing instructions for setting/getting configuration/values and for controlling the storing records of 32 signals values with 32-bit timestamps to an attached DDR3 memory or directly to hosting PC’s RAM via Ethernet. The proposed solution, embedded into the RISC-V CPU named RiscDaq manages to initiate an Ethernet transmission of digital records 9.78x times faster than a MicroBlaze microcontroller, although our SoC operates with a 4x lower frequency, and outputs the result of logical operation performed over maximum 31 digital channels, with a constant 20 ns propagation delay, 49.2x times faster than a Cortex-M7 clocked at a 6x times higher frequency.
