In this paper, multi-objective optimization is used to solve the signal synchronization problem in arterial traffic roads, where a traffic dispersion module is introduced to further expand the solution space. By incorporating the models of delay time, queue length and stop times into the optimization, a first model called M1 is established. In the second model M2, the free flow speed assumption is replaced by a traffic dispersion module for better estimating the link travel time. A simulation study is then carried out on an arterial road, and the results show that the proposed strategy improves the performance of the traffic system compared to the current timing scheme and M2 has the best performance among all solutions in this paper, and the delay is reduced for about 24%. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

This paper presents a study for optimizing a hot rolling mill. The paper is devoted to the study of ways to reduce the effect of shock loads of synchronous electric drives of the roughing mill group on the relative lengthening of the metal strip in the inter-stand gap of the rolling stands of the finishing mill group. The elasticity of the metal strip in the inter-stand gap of the rolling mill has a significant impact on the movement of intercoupled multi-motor electric drives of the finishing mill group. Another crucial route of exposure that influences the motion of the electric drives within the finishing mill group involves the electromagnetic connection between the drives in the roughing and finishing mill groups. The impact of the electromagnetically connected circuits is evident through the effect of shock loads from synchronous electric drives on the angular velocity of the direct current electric drives within the finishing mill group. The characteristics of the electromagnetic communication circuit are established by the power grid arrangement and equipment specifications. To assess the quality of work of electric drives of the finishing mill group, it is proposed to use the relative lengthening of the metal strip in the inter-stand gap, which is an important indirect indicator of the quality of rolling. The mathematical model of a hot rolling mill that takes into account both the elasticity of the metal strip that connects the DC electric drives of the finishing group, and the electromagnetic coupling circuit that takes into account the impact loads of synchronous electric drives of the roughing group on the example of the mill 1700 of ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC was proposed in this paper. Willems’ Fundamental Lemma provides a powerful data-driven parametrization of all trajectories of a controllable linear time-invariant system based on one trajectory with persistently exciting (PE) input. In this paper, we present a novel proof of this result which is inspired by the classical adaptive control literature and differs from existing proofs in multiple aspects. The proof involves a quantitative and directional PE notion, allowing to characterize robust PE properties via singular value bounds, as opposed to binary rank- based PE conditions. Further, the proof is constructive, i.e., we derive an explicit PE lower bound for the generated data. As a contribution of independent interest, we generalize existing PE results from the adaptive control literature and reveal a crucial role of the system’s zeros.

The expediency of using multi-functional laboratory stands in the process of training specialists in the electromechanical profession is substantiated. The paper contains characteristics of the small-scale model of the "Teplopunkt" laboratory stand, on the basis of which it is possible to research the means of automation of heating systems with supply ventilation. The structure of the automated control and monitoring system of the "Teplopunkt" laboratory stand is given. A laboratory workshop based on a small-scale model is developed. Its implementation allows improving the effectiveness of practical training of specialists in the field of automation of thermal processes. The dynamic characteristics of the operation of the laboratory stand with the maintenance of a constant temperature of the heat-transfer agent based on the mathematical model are obtained.

The disability,mortality and costs due to ionizing radiation(IR)-induced osteoporotic bone fractures are sub-stantial and no effective therapy *** radiation increases cellular oxidative damage,causing an imbalance in bone turnover that is primarily driven via heightened activity of the bone-resorbing *** demonstrate that rats exposed to sublethal levels of IR develop fragile,osteoporotic *** reactive surface sites,cerium ions have the ability to easily undergo redox cycling:drastically adjusting their electronic con-figurations and versatile catalytic *** properties make cerium oxide nanomaterials *** show that an engineered artificial nanozyme composed of cerium oxide,and designed to possess a higher fraction of trivalent(Ce^(3+))surface sites,mitigates the IR-induced loss in bone area,bone architecture,and *** investigations also demonstrate that our nanozyme furnishes several mechanistic avenues of protection and selectively targets highly damaging reactive oxygen species,protecting the rats against IR-induced DNA damage,cellular senescence,and elevated osteoclastic activity in vitro and in ***,we reveal that our nanozyme is a previously unreported key regulator of osteoclast formation derived from macrophages while also directly targeting bone progenitor cells,favoring new bone formation despite its exposure to harmful levels of IR in *** findings open a new approach for the specific prevention of IR-induced bone loss using synthesis-mediated designer multifunctional nanomaterials.

Postural monitoring in wheelchair users is a topic of growing interest. The detection of changes in the sitting patterns of these patients may serve to detect changes in their functional status and be able to adapt rehabilitation early. For this reason, this paper presents a methodology for the detection of specific postural anomalies that, unlike previous works, adopts unsupervised learning. The proposed methodology involves data dimensionality reduction using Principal Component Analysis, and the application of K-means clustering to group different normal posture states. The anomalies are detected using a threshold approach, where data points that fall outside a certain threshold are considered as anomalies. The results show that the methodology is effective in identifying anomalies with a high degree of accuracy (around 90%).

The superior performance of object detectors is often established under the condition that the test samples are in the same distribution as the training data. However, in many practical applications, out-of-distribution (OOD) instances are inevitable and usually lead to uncertainty in the results. In this paper, we propose a novel, intuitive, and scalable probabilistic object detection method for OOD detection. Unlike other uncertainty-modeling methods that either require huge computational costs to infer the weight distributions or rely on model training through synthetic outlier data, our method is able to distinguish between in-distribution (ID) data and OOD data via weight parameter sampling from proposed Gaussian distributions based on pre-trained networks. We demonstrate that our Bayesian object detector can achieve satisfactory OOD identification performance by reducing the FPR95 score by up to 8.19% and increasing the AUROC score by up to 13.94% when trained on BDD100k and VOC datasets as the ID datasets and evaluated on COCO2017 dataset as the OOD dataset. Suboptimality analysis of receding horizon quadratic control with unknown linear systems and its applications in learning-based control

This work analyzes how the trade-off between the modeling error, the terminal value function error, and the prediction horizon affects the performance of a nominal receding-horizon linear quadratic (LQ) controller. By developing a novel perturbation result of the Riccati difference equation, a novel performance upper bound is obtained and suggests that for many cases, the prediction horizon can be either 1 or +∞ to improve the control performance, depending on the relative difference between the modeling error and the terminal value function error. The result also shows that when an infinite horizon is desired, a finite prediction horizon that is larger than the controllability index can be sufficient for achieving a near-optimal performance, revealing a close relation between the prediction horizon and controllability. The obtained suboptimality performance bound is applied to provide novel sample complexity and regret guarantees for nominal receding-horizon LQ controllers in a learning-based setting. We show that an adaptive prediction horizon that increases as a logarithmic function of time is beneficial for regret minimization. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Four new modifications of discrete analog filters (DAF) of second order low frequencies (LPF) on switched capacitors, which are protected by the authors of the article as objects of intellectual property, have been developed and studied. In the considered DAF family, unlike other known circuit solutions, summation of input and output signals is provided using a differential difference operational amplifier. As a result, the low-pass filter transmission coefficient in the passband does not depend on the passive elements of the circuit and is always equal to minus one. Buffer amplifiers in two DAF circuits are necessary to reduce the influence of switching circuits on transient processes. In the Micro-Cap environment, computer simulations of four modifications of DAFs were performed, showing that the proposed DAFs have the amplitude-frequency response of a low-pass filter. Sequences of pulses are given that should control four electronic keys, made, for example, on CMOS transistors. Graphs of transient processes of the DAF are shown for an input sinusoidal signal with an amplitude of 1V and a frequency of 1591 Hz, equal to the pole frequency at a switching frequency of electronic keys of 1 MHz. The DAF transmission coefficients for the input sinusoidal signal in different frequency ranges are determined. It has been established that with the selected parameters of the elements in the considered DAFs, which are low-pass filters, the input signal at a frequency of 159.10 kHz is attenuated by more than 60 dB.
