The article presents an educational web resource developed by teachers and students of Vologda State University. It is used to teach IT students the skills of developing queries to a relational database and writing program code stored in the database. As main part of the web resource, there is an extensive bank of training tasks designed for independent solution by students, and a system for automatic checking students' solutions. To justify the necessity of resource development, the article presents an analytical review of existing online database training resources. Structural and algorithmic decisions accepted at realization of automatic checking of students' solutions in the developed resource are considered. The bank of training tasks on the course "Databases"is briefly presented. The experience of using the web resource in the educational process for effective organization of students' independent work is analyzed. © 2024 IEEE.

Information and Communication Technologies are revealing themselves as an opportunity for the progress of smart cities, where business intelligence is being key for efficient management and fast data processing as in Intelligent Transport Systems. This paper presents a work in progress on smart city management, whose main result is the development of an online monitoring tool for traffic analysis based on Microsoft Power BI. To this end, this manuscript describes the use of distributed information sources - both locally and in the cloud - to analyze the state of road congestion. The main goal is to provide users with historical data on urban climate, location of pedestrian crossings, public road congestion and other useful information that allows a better understanding of the state of a city. © 2023 ITMA.

Making evolutionary algorithms greener implies tackling implementation issues from different angles. Practitioners need to focus on those that can be more easily leveraged, such as the choice of the language that is going to be used;high-level (interpreted), mid-level (based on multi-platform virtual machines), and low-level (native) languages will need power in different ways, and choosing one or the other will have an impact on energy consumption. We will be looking at the implementation of key evolutionary algorithm functions, in three languages at three different levels: the high-level JavaScript, the mid-level Kotlin, which runs on the Java Virtual Machine, and the low-level Zig. Looking beyond the obvious, as the lower the level, the less energy consumption should be expected, we will try to have a more holistic view of the implementation of the algorithms in order to extract best practices regarding its green implementation. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

In recent years, a variety of new frameworks streamlining the process of agent-based modeling has emerged. These frameworks serve different purposes and each offers a unique set of features. In this practical comparative study, we evaluate the performance of various ABM frameworks through a series of benchmark simulations. By comparing the distinct functionalities offered by these tools, we aim to assist in the selection of an appropriate ABM toolkit for developing system models. This review presents a concise overview of seven popular agent-based modeling tools aiming to inspire further exploration and investigation into this subject. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

This paper reports on ongoing and innovative research in the area of eXplainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI). A classical XAI task is considered as finding an explanation of the model generated via Machine Learning by identifying the most influential variables for local decision-making. Such an approach suffers from severe limitations. The proposed approach moves the explanatory process to a new, knowledge-level dimension. It is oriented towards Model Discovery, i.e. the internal structure and functions of the components. The concept of Model-Driven XAI is put forward and explained with examples. An experiment on Function Discovery via Grammatical Evolution is reported in brief. © IFIP International Federation for Information Processing 2024.

As e-Health systems become more widely used starting with COVID-19 pandemic, the amount of data they collect increases significantly. The volume, diversity, and unpredictability of patient data necessitate distinct storage types for long-Term preservation. As a result, one of the primary problems with e-Health systems is making patient data accessible and combined into different styles so that AI algorithms can analyze it. This paper presents an improved persistence system that utilizes NoSQL databases such as Couchbase. The aim of this system is to improve overall system performance while reducing security risks associated with data availability, confidentiality, and integrity. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a synthesis method of decision-making systems based on Agents forming multiple coalitions. The condition for coalition formation is defined by a mathematical model that solves the problem of global optimization of the objective function. The problem of synthesizing the agent-based system was formulated, and the mathematical model for negotiating the coalition formation process was developed. The process of initiation, dialogue and coalition formation is presented based on the sequence diagram. For structural modeling, Membrane Computation (P-Systems) models are used that highlight the parallelism and topology of the Multi-Agent system. The Agent structure is defined as a collection of knowledge (data and processing methods) and input/output ports. The functional validation of the Agent and the Multi-Agent system was performed based on the Timed Petri Nets. © 2023 IEEE.

Multi-objective decision making systems based on Spatial-Temporal logics presents a class of computational systems based on Artificial Intelligence in which spatial location and time evolution of processes (events) are taken into account. Multi-objective decision making systems showcase a distributed computing architecture based on Agents (Computational Nodes) that form a network for data processing. The functionality of the decision making system is based on events that are spatially and temporally localized. The set of Agents, based on the events, calculates its influence coefficient on the decision taken by the Agent. An Agent can generate both decisions, which lead to personal qualitative evolution, and events that will be processed by other Agents. This work elaborates the following: the multi-objective decision system diagram, the communication model between Agents, the set of operators for spatial-temporal logic, and the model for optimal solution search in event space. © 2023 IEEE.

During the last decade, the use of social media has exploded. One of the internet’s most popular and accessible social media sites is Twitter in which people can have micro-blog to post their views on any subject, called a tweet. Indonesia becomes one of country which has the most active user of social media. On the other side, Indonesia has experienced a great deal of natural disasters because it is located in a pacific ring of fire. It is needed effective disaster management used in Indonesia, especially with the help of social media data. Big data analysis obtained during turbulent and unorganized emergency situations is the perfect fit for effective management. During a disaster, it is vital to manage the proper decision to help people affected with their needs. This research investigated some methods used in social media analysis and then apply deep learning model for supervised tasks which classify the related and unrelated disasters on tweet datasets and Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) for unsupervised learning which extracts the details category on the disaster Twitter data. The LSTM model architecture obtained a higher score accuracy than CNN. Moreover, the LDA topic modeling obtained potential results on the details topic from the datasets which could describe useful information to help disaster management. © 2023 IEEE.

This elaboration presents the synthesis of the Takagi-Sugeno type Fuzzy Logic controller realizing the programmable parameters of the state feedback controller together with the steady state current for the active magnetic levitation system. Closed-loop dynamics was calculated precisely with respect to the requested dynamics. Two cases were considered: fixed-and variable-closed-loop dynamics. The Fuzzy Logic Controller was considered under four scenarios with linear, nonlinear, and constant in-range output. The study was supported by simulations and experimental investigations. The position of the levitating sphere stands as an illustration of the system in operation. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.
