In the present paper, a model of a hybrid neural-fuzzy system adapted to identify drinks with certain quality indicators, more specifically - tea blends with different ingredients, has been synthesized. To illustrate the work of the classifier, different types of tea were used, for which spectral characteristics of diffuse reflectance in the VIS/NIR range of the electromagnetic spectrum were taken. PCA is used to reduce the feature space of experimental databases. The first three components obtained as a result of the PCA-analysis are selected as the input vectors of the neural fuzzy classifier. The pattern recognition results are as follows: 98.3% in training and 81.3% in testing. The obtained relatively high percentage of accuracy for the work of the hybrid artificial neural network is proof of the successful implementation of the set classification task. © 2024 IEEE.

This elaboration presents the synthesis of the Takagi-Sugeno type Fuzzy Logic controller realizing the programmable parameters of the state feedback controller together with the steady state current for the active magnetic levitation system. Closed-loop dynamics was calculated precisely with respect to the requested dynamics. Two cases were considered: fixed-and variable-closed-loop dynamics. The Fuzzy Logic controller was considered under four scenarios with linear, nonlinear, and constant in-range output. The study was supported by simulations and experimental investigations. The position of the levitating sphere stands as an illustration of the system in operation. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

This report explores the experimental identification of magnetic flux density within the motor air gap, focusing on the development of a robot-based approach to automate the scanning procedure. Emphasis is placed on analyzing the distribution of magnetic flux within the motor’s spatial air gap, as well as the amplification of harmonics resulting from changes in air gap orientation. Drawing upon experimental findings, a model is proposed to illustrate the three-dimensional distribution of magnetic flux within the gap.

The paper is devoted to solving the problem of restoring noised images by convolutional autoencoders. It is provided a comparative research of three types of convolutional autoencoder architectures: the standard architecture based on convolution and deconvolution operations; the architecture based on Residual-blocks; the architecture based on Residual-blocks using a discriminator network. The effectiveness of the autoencoder architectures have been evaluated on synthetically noisy color images. Subjective and objective metrics as MSE, RMSE, PSNR, SSIM were used to evaluate the quality of the restored images. In the course of a comparative study, some recommendations were drawn on which of the explored autoencoders to choose providing the best effectiveness restoring the quality of distorted images.

The paper describes a new method of noisy image restoration based on amplification of low-frequency components in high-frequency subbands, or details of fast wavelet transform (FWT). It makes a difference with respect to well-known wavelet filtering methods which are typically based on soft thresholding of wavelet coefficients belonging to high-frequency subbands of a noisy image. At the same time, the low-frequency component, or approximation can be used to extract the low-frequency components corresponding the details. It allows modifying the details of the FWT by adding the extracted low-frequency components that leads to increasing the signal-to-noise ratios in subbands. The paper contains the experimental results of modeling proving the effectiveness of the suggested method comparing to some widely used filtering methods, too. The results of modeling have shown that the proposed method allows improving quality of restored image by increasing both the signal-to-noise ratio and significantly reducing the number of ringing artifacts.

The existing despeckling methods typically encounter difficulties in achieving an optimal equilibrium between the suppression of noise and the preservation of critical image features, particularly in scenarios involving images that encompass both homogeneous (smooth) areas and heterogeneous (textured or edge-dense) regions. This paper proposes a hybrid approach combining wavelet filtering and Wiener filtering, leveraging their complementary strengths. The results of computer modeling have shown that the wavelet filters are effective in homogeneous regions by exploiting multi-scale sparsity, while the Wiener filter adaptively preserves textures in heterogeneous areas. By segmenting the image based on regional homogeneity, we apply the corresponding filter, achieving superior noise reduction in the sense both objective and subjective criteria.

This article presents the problem of designing a nonlinear observer for an active magnetic suspension system. The design process of the nonlinear Luenberger observer (also known as the Kazantzis-Kravaris-Luenberger observer) is discussed. Particular attention was paid to the main nonlinearity of the system - the electromagnetic force, which was modeled applying the function describing the change in inductance as a function of the distance of the levitating object from the electromagnet surface. Theoretical analyses were confirmed by the results of experimental studies in which the task of moving the sphere between the given positions using current control was carried out. control tasks were conducted in the real-time regime on an embedded platform. The measured signals and estimated velocity were analyzed in the context of future implementations in control applications.

The paper examines possible directions for improving power quality assurance tools by achieving their multifunctionality, controllability, and efficiency, with the aim of enhancing their performance while considering the circuit and operational specifics of integrated ship electrical power systems with semiconductor propulsion complexes. To address the challenges posed by increasing harmonic distortions and reactive power in such systems, one- and two-stage versions of system-controlled filter-compensating devices are proposed and thoroughly investigated. These devices are specifically designed to enable full reactive power compensation while significantly reducing voltage and current harmonic distortions, thus ensuring improved power quality and system reliability in ship electrical power systems with semiconductor propulsion complexes. The proposed modeling approach provides a comprehensive framework for analyzing and comparing the impact of controlled filter-compensating devices on the integral harmonic distortion coefficient of voltage across systems with various types of input rectifiers incorporated within the frequency converters of semiconductor propulsion complexes. Additionally, the study takes into account possible deviations in the ship network frequency, which can influence system performance under real operating conditions. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed tools in mitigating power quality issues, thereby contributing to the overall stability and efficiency of modern ship electrical power systems. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.
