New enhancement of infrared image based on human visual system

Infrared images are firstly analyzed using the multifractal theory so that the singularity of each pixel can be extracted from the images. The multifractal spectrum is then estimated, which can reflect overall characteristic of an infrared image. Thus the edge and texture of an infrared image can be accurately extracted based on the singularity of each pixel and the multifractal spectrum. Finally the edge pixels are classified and enhanced in accordance with the sensitivity of human visual system to the edge profile of an infrared image. The experimental results obtained by this approach are compared with those obtained by other methods. It is found that the proposed approach can be used to highlight the edge area of an infrared image to make an infrared image more suitable for observation by human eyes.

The valve clearance is essential to the engine efficacy, this paper presents the definition of the valve clearance and selecting fundamental of the valve tappet, and the tappet selector was developed on these grounds, which was consisted of the cylinder head measurement machine and camshaft measurement machine;the errors of the tappet selector were analyzed in brief, and the repetition and veracity of the tappet selector were tested, the data shows that the measurement is accurate, the valve clearance could be controlled with the tappet selector.

Based on fractional Fourier transform, the double folding operation is studied and introduced into image encryption. This method can implement a kind of the encoding with real number. This characteristic is convenient to the storage and transmission of the encrypted image. The corresponding experimental setup is similar to the scheme of double random phase encoding. With computer, some numerical simulations have been achieved. The analysis on the algorithm from the aspects of validity, security and robustness is made. The calculated results have been demonstrated that the algorithm is effective and has good security. © 2009 SPIE.

Fiber laser gas sensors based on the intra-cavity absorption spectroscopy require the use of gas cells. We propose a simple and reliable gas cell using graded-index fiber lens (GFL) based all-fiber collimator. Conventional gas cells usually utilize direct fiber-to-fiber coupling without collimators or graded-index (GRIN) lens as collimators. Direct fiberto- fiber gas cell has simple configuration, but it suffers from high coupling loss and stray light interference. Gas cells applying fiber pigtailed GRIN lens are advantageous to achieve low coupling loss. However, fiber pigtailed GRIN lens requires accurate and complicated alignment and glue packaging which could compromise long term reliability and thermal stability. The proposed technique fabricates all-fiber collimators by simply splicing a short section of gradedindex fiber to single mode fiber which is both compact and durable. With that collimator, the gas cell can be fabricated very thin and are suitable for extreme environments with high temperature and vibration. In this paper, we have carried out experiment and analysis to evaluate the proposed technique. The coupling efficiency is studied versus different GFL gradient parameter profiles using ray matrix transformation of the complex beam parameter. Experiments are also done to prove the practical feasibility of the collimator. The analysis indicates that gas cell using GFLs can overcome the disadvantages of traditional design;it may replace the conventional gas cells in practical applications. 2009 SPIE.

Home automation systems based on wireless sensor/actuator networks are characterized by diversity of node power sources, limited computational power, and mobility. We propose a routing protocol that fully uses the location of static nodes to limit the search for a route to a small zone based on the analysis of characteristics and requirements. The calculation of two different kinds of zone and the route discovery procedure are described in this paper. According to the environment of home automation, we compared the performance of our routing protocols with the ad-hoc on-demand distance-vector protocol using simulation and gave suggestions for zone selection. Simulation results showed that our routing protocol dramatically reduced the routing overhead and increased the reliability.

This paper reports on AnnieWAY, an autonomous vehicle that is capable of driving through urban scenarios and that has successfully entered the finals of the 2007 DARPA Urban Challenge competition. After describing the main challenges imposed and the major hardware components, we outline the underlying software structure and focus on selected algorithms. Environmental perception mainly relies on a recent laser scanner which delivers both range and reflectivity measurements. While range measurements are used to provide 3D scene geometry, measuring reflectivity allows for robust lane marker detection. Mission and maneuver planning is conducted using a concurrent hierarchical state machine that generates behavior in accordance with California traffic laws. We conclude with a report of the results achieved during the competition. © 2009 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

This intelligent analysis instrument is equipped TFT LCD as displaying terminal. First, timing and logic requirements of a typical TFT LCD are introduced. Hardware circuit between microprocessor S3C2410 and TFT LCD module are designed. Then, based on Windows CE, developing software driver code mainly focus on setting related registers of displaying interface and adjusting the position of displaying area. Thus, system will be displayed fluently and stably. Practice has proved that the TFT LCD hardware and software design is an effective solution for the application.

Need of blood pressure measurement is usable in wide spectrum of applications from physicians offices to home care applications. Many types of blood pressure measurement devices can be bought in electronics shops. All such devices are measurement devices which need to be in contact with human body (hand or foot mainly). Further they allow only one measurement per several minutes interval (typically 10 minutes). Our goal is to develop a small device for noninvasive continuous measurement of blood pressure. This device must be a small battery powered embedded system which measures a blood pressure during a long time period and sends this information to remote operator's stations. In this station the analysis of receiving video data is made for several types of usage. In current state we develop a small device to scan a video or a set of images with the NIR (Near Infra Red) CCD camera. The video data are transferred by wireless connection to the computer where they are analyzed. The first results provide an indication to be a right way to obtain exact continuous blood pressure information. In the future there exists a way to integrate this blood pressure measurement system to concurrently developed biotelemetric system architecture for patients and physicians called Guardian. For position monitoring in outdoor areas there is developed GPS module which informs about patient location and brings very precise time basis for other measuring modules of Guardian system and time synchronization.

This paper is concerned with the estimation of the domain of attraction for a class of linear continuous-time systems subject to both interval time-varying delay and actuator saturation. A new type of delay-range-dependent condition is firstly proposed using the free-weighting matrix technique to derive a tighter upper bound on the derivative of a Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional. Based on it, a state feedback controller is then designed with the solution of a set of linear matrix inequalities. An optimization problem with LMI constraints is formulated in order to find an initial set as large as possible to obtain a less conservative estimate of the domain of attraction for such systems. An example is carried out to illustrate the theoretical results.
