The research area of uniform dispersal focuses on the minimal capabilities required by mobile robots to solve the problem. Consider the uniform dispersion problem in an unknown connected space which is decomposed into smaller cells. Autonomous robots are injected through an entry point and has to occupy all the cells while avoiding collisions. These robots are considered "weak" in terms of hardware capabilities. They have limited memory, visibility and communication range. When the robots do not have any persistent storage (i.e. without any memory of past positions or actions) they are called oblivious. This paper presents a method which enables oblivious robots to solve the uniform dispersion problem.

There are different theories to estimate cognitive abilities. Gardner proposed a model, where intelligence is defined by multiple fields instead of using one specific number. However, the characterization and automated evaluation of these fields are still open issues. If we can make standalone measurements in separate intelligence fields, the numerical modeling of the competencies is possible. Observing the cognitive abilities of children can lead us to an optimized learning experience in performance and engagement. Our aim is to automatically match problem sets and intelligence fields in order to achieve a faster and deeper learning experience. The amount of data to be collected makes the automation of this process a focus point of these studies. In this paper we present an automatic cognitive profiling system with the help of smart devices and AdaptEd - an adaptive educational gaming framework. With the presented system the learning methods and tasks can be fine-tuned, and a personalized and more effective learning environment can be achieved.

This paper presents a method for estimating difficulty of game tasks found in educational games. The method uses techniques from the field of socio-cognitive ICT, a branch of cognitive infocommunications. Our aim was to create an adaptive gaming experience for users of educational games. Adjusting the difficulty of game tasks according to the mental state of users is required for this approach. For some game tasks, however, difficulty is not known in advance. Our paper proposes a solution to this problem by presenting a model of an algorithm for game task difficulty estimation based on Bayesian probability theory and existing research on human intelligence. The paper also presents a simulation algorithm which is used to analyze the validity and efficiency of the estimation algorithm. An example of a real-world application of our method-an educational game made for university students of architecture and civil engineering-is also part of the paper.

The Unmanned Aerial Vehicles like quadrocopters, thanks to the increasing computational capacity of embedded systems, are being used at wide range of tasks i.e. aerial mapping, scouting etc. To control the position of these UAV's, a proper altitude measurement is necessary, however due to the noisiness of these flying systems the design of such controls is a difficult task. The aim of this paper is to expand the capabilities of the sensors of our quadcopter project. Process and fusion their signals to compose a cost efficient, stable and accurate height measurement solution designed for an embedded low-cost microcontroller. The Kalman Filter was chosen to fusion the signals of the sonar and the accelerometer. The realized filter on the embedded platform was field tested in real conditions and modified after the analysis process of the results.

Traffic enumeration is a frequently used approach in smart city applications for estimating the traffic load of the road network. Many solutions use a camera and state-of-the-art image processing technologies. As image processing is relative resource consuming, either very simple methods are used, or the processing is performed off-site, on a central computer. The approach presented in this paper employs a powerful embedded system to process the video images in real-time, so that the communication traffic is limited to the transmission of retrieved statistics. In order to fit into the limited resources and still allow vehicle size and speed measurements, special data representations and processing pipeline has to be used. This paper presents the operation principles of the sensor, followed by the corresponding evaluation results.

However, the collection and analysis of such big data is still an open question from the perspective of energy efficiency. In this article will show a concept which covers the whole lifecycle of such huge scale sensor networks. We introduce a deployment and maintenance solution for uncharted areas. Two optimized PWM techniques for the overmodulation region of two-level inverter-fed ac drives are investigated from harmonic loss minimization point of view. The optimization is elaborated for the lowest loss-factor, which is proportional to the square of rms value of current harmonics. The loss-factors are computed for different switching numbers as the function of the motor fundamental voltage. It is shown that, respect to the motor heating and torque ripples, the acceptable drive condition can be guaranteed by relatively low value of inverter switching frequency up to 96-97% of maximal possible motor voltage. Furthermore, it is shown that, the so-called Three vector method, introduced in the paper, has considerably better performance in the lower part of the overmodulation region than the so-called Two vector method or the standard PWM techniques for the same number of switching. The theoretical results are verified by experimental tests.
