Wind Energy Conversion Systems (WECS) are penetrating into Microgrids as they fit well to the concept of Distributed Generation. The variable speed Doubly Fed Induction Generators (DFIG) are most frequently used. Changing the speed (DFIG) according to the aerodynamic law, maximum wind power can be harvested. Field Oriented Control (FOC) technique is one of the most frequently applied algorithm to control the torque and the speed of a three-phase electric drive. The paper focuses on high speed or high-pole count motor FOC drives when both the sampling over reference frequency ratio F and the carrier over reference frequency m f is low. The paper presents that the stability range of a speed sensor-less FOC motor drive can be extended by recalculating the reference signal of the Space Vector Modulation algorithm at the negative peak of the carrier signal as well by approximating the rotor flux angle change over one half carrier period. The result was verified by computer simulations and laboratory measurements.

A novel microgrid control is proposed in the paper. Independent control of active and reactive power for each unit connected to the common microgrid bus is realized in addition to the power sharing in the designed ratio among the units. The concepts of voltage droop and frequency droop applied widely are incorporated here as well. The price paid for the independent control is the reference frame transformation needed in the novel control.

In this paper we use a numerical simulation to analyze the time evolution of the net spin magnetization in diffusion weighted MRI. We compare the integer and fractional cases by simulating the Bloch-Torrey equation for several different types of gradient pulses. This generalization of the diffusion process is based on the Continuous Time Random Walk (CTRW) model, where the order of the fractional time derivative a, and the order of the fractional space derivative β, encode the distributions of waiting time and jump length increments that underly anomalous dynamics in heterogeneous materials. We examine the time evolution of the net magnetization for a constant gradient field, for a pair of bipolar gradient pulses, for the Stejskal-Tanner pulse sequence, and for a set of oscillating gradients. We compare the numerical results with analytical expressions in particular cases, and present the overall system response for selected values of α and β. One novel observation is a slow recovery of magnetization in the case of non-integer fractional time derivatives, which seems to reflect the persistence (or memory) of the earlier states of magnetization that is encoded in the definition of the Caputo time-domain fractional derivative.

People use their mobile devices every day to access a wide variety digital content. The diversity of mobile platforms and that of mobile device capabilities requires providing automatic layout solutions for online content. For the purposes of this paper, our solutions focus on online magazines and newspapers. The Content-Driven Template-Based Layout System (CTLS) is a template-based online magazine layout approach. This approach facilitates in defining hierarchical layouts from basic layout elements and splitter components. The goal is to effectively calculate the resulting adaptation method for a particular layout element at any level of the layout hierarchy. This paper introduces both the solution area-based algorithm and the fitness-based algorithm of the CTLS approach. These algorithms apply inequalities rather than equations. Inequalities, represented by solution areas (polygons), provide the flexibility within the approach.

Nowadays as the technology is developing, the more complex the power electronics and its controls become, the more proper hardware tool is required for HIL (Hardware-In-the-Loop) simulation. The general aim of the presented work is developing a fast, reliable and scalable HIL simulation framework for the rapid prototyping of complex power electronic systems. There are at least three strong reasons for using HIL simulation during the development: i) reduction of development time, ii) safety and quality requirements, and iii) prevent costly and dangerous failures [1]. The subject of the paper is the development of such a real-time HIL simulator using an FPGA.
