This paper illustrates developments of signatures for Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications. Since the signatures are data structures with efficient results in modeling of fuzzy inference systems and of uncertain expert systems, the paper starts with the analysis of the data structures used in AI applications from the knowledge representation and manipulation point of view. An overview on the signatures, on the operators on signatures and on classes of signatures is next given. Using the proto fuzzy inference system, these operators are applied in a new application of fuzzy inference system modeled by means of signatures and of classes of signatures.

In this paper, a nineteen level dodecagonal voltage space vector structure is proposed for the first time, by cascading two asymmetric three level inverters with isolated H-Bridges. The dodecagonal structure is made possible by proper selection of DC link voltages and switching states of the inverters. The proposed scheme retains all the advantages of multilevel topologies as well the advantages of dodecagonal voltage space vector structure. A generic and simple method for calculation of PWM timings is proposed. Also, a new method of switching technique is proposed, which ensures minimum switching while maintaining the linearity between modulating signals and the output phase voltages. Extensive simulation and experimental results have been presented for validation of the proposed concept.

The paper is concerned with the wind energy conversion system (WECS) applying doubly fed induction generator. It addresses the question whether the slip-torque characteristic of the generator belonging to short circuited rotor can be shifted along the slip axis only by the rotor voltage in the slip range ±0.3 resulting in more-less similar set of slip-torque characteristics as can be achieved with induction machine supplied by variable frequency. A new approach of nonholonomic path planning for car-like robots is presented. The main idea is similar to many existing approaches which obtain a path in two phases. It is familiar in nonholonomic planning that at first a holonomic path is planned which is approximated by a nonholonomic one in a second step by subdividing it into smaller parts and replacing them with local paths fulfilling the kinematic constraints. These methods mostly rely on probabilistic methods and heuristic optimization. Our approach uses a holonomic preliminary path as well, but it serves only as a "loose guidance" to the second phase of the planning process. The final path is not required to contain any of the intermediate points of the preliminary path at all. The method is effective in environments consisting of narrow corridors but having wider free areas as well which can be used for maneuvering.
