The practice of control strategies and their applications on industrial systems requires reliable models in implementation, with an identification of their variables involved in the control sequence. Indeed, several complexity limitations of these systems require the use of linearization around the operating points, to ensure the stability of the system. To this end, this work proposes the development of a closed-loop identification strategy, applied to a two-shaft gas turbine, using a linear control with state feedback. This approach makes it possible to meet stability objectives by ensuring better performance in control variables of the studied gas turbine.

In this work, the morphological and optical properties of the cadmium (II) bis(8-hydroxyquinoline) (Cdq2) thin film are presented. The film was elaborated by physical deposition technique. The Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) image shows a homogenous surface. The transmittance was measured in the range of 300–1200 nm with UV–visible spectroscopy. The emission of the film was characterized via the photoluminescence spectroscopy, a strong luminescence has been found. The measurements done at low temperatures show a decrease of the intensity of luminescence in the temperature range of 77–300 K. © 2022

Despite standards on electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring in medical diagnostics, signal acquisition is prone to noisy artefacts and rely greatly on the quality of skin contact and signal transducing interference. Electrodes, serving as indispensable conduits in ECG signal acquisition, act as the crucial interface between the human body and recording instrumentation. The usage of traditional gel electrodes may provoke skin irritation, by contrast, the advent of embroidered electrodes, a contemporary innovation, holds the promise of more comfort monitoring. However, the sustainability quotient and predictive precision of these novel electrodes require more in-depth investigation. This paper endeavors a comprehensive evaluation of both gel and embroidered electrodes concerning ECG signal acquisition. Simultaneously, the study aims to construct a polynomial regression model leveraging advanced machine learning (ML) tools. The inferred model predicts embroidered signals based on experimental data obtained from gel electrodes. The methodology encompasses systematic data collection, preprocessing, insightful analysis, and the application of data-driven techniques. The findings of this study highlight the viability of embroidered electrodes as a compelling alternative, transcending traditional paradigms. Employing ML tools, the developed model achieves predictive accuracy, reflected in robust R2 values extending up to 94.9%. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Nowadays, many technical devices are controlled by logic circuits. These circuits evaluate the situation based on the proposed truth functions, which they then use to perform one of the defined actions. In line with the increasing complexity of individual technical devices, the logic circuits and truth functions are also increasingly complex. For this reason, it makes sense to minimise these functions since they can thereby achieve a simpler technological process and the higher reliability of whole logic systems. This paper describes the Karnaugh Studio application, which resolves the minimisation of these truth functions - and was developed at our faculty (FAI, TBU in Zlín). The minimisation is performed using the Karnaugh Map Method - with support for up to eight variables on input. The application is based on the C++ programming language and the Dear ImGui and Magick++ libraries. Its functionality has been verified on a number of examples. This proved its applicability and ability to be used in the solution of logic circuits in industrial practice. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Rigid-body industrial robotic manipulators and pneumatic compression systems are widely used in mechano-therapeutic applications. However, rigid and bulky components reduce the wearability of the system in mobile environments. The current trend in wearable robotics tends to build such devices using textiles/silicone materials thanks to their lightness, compliancy, and comfort properties. In this study, thermally powered soft fluidic actuators that utilize liquid/gas phase transition property of low boiling point liquids are investigated. Proposed actuators generate desired pressure level and have great potential to free mechano-therapy devices from such bulky components. The developed structure incorporates textile-based heaters, thin film actuator shells, and low boiling point liquids. Here, two low boiling liquids with different boiling temperature are mixed successfully in order to obtain desired boiling point. Results a revealed that actuators constructed with PE/PA membrane did not show any deterioration even after 500 cycle actuation. In order to control the system, instantaneous temperature of the textile-based heater on the actuator device is used as feedback for the on-off controller.

The increasing application of voltage source converter (VSC) based high voltage direct current (VSC-HVDC) technology in power grids has raised the importance of incorporating DC grids and converters into the existing transmission network. This poses significant challenges in dealing with the resulting optimal power flow (OPF) problem. In this paper, a recently proposed nonconvex distributed optimization algorithm — Augmented Lagrangian based Alternating Direction Inexact Newton method (ALADIN), is tailored to solve the nonconvex AC/DC OPF problem for emerging voltage source converter (VSC) based multiterminal high voltage direct current (VSC-MTDC) meshed AC/DC hybrid systems. The proposed scheme decomposes this AC/DC hybrid OPF problem and handles it in a fully distributed way. Compared to the existing state-of-art Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (ADMM), which is in general, not applicable for nonconvex problems, ALADIN has a theoretical convergence guarantee. Applying these two approaches to VSC-MTDC coupled with an IEEE benchmark AC power system illustrates that the tailored ALADIN outperforms ADMM in convergence speed and numerical robustness.

Fitness landscape analysis (FLA) is quite important in evolutionary computation. In this paper, we propose a novel FLA method, the nearest-better network (NBN), which uses the nearest-better relationship to simplify the original fitness landscape of continuous optimization problems. We introduce an efficient algorithm to calculate NBN for continuous problems. We also propose four numerical measurements and a 3D visualization method based on NBN. Experiments show that compared to the other main FLA methods, the four numerical measurements proposed here can effectively measure the four intended features: neutrality, ruggedness, modality, and basin of attraction, respectively, and common features of the fitness landscape can be maintained in 3D NBN visualization, regardless of the scale of the problem. NBN also provides a view of how algorithms search in high-dimensional problems with the help of the 3D NBN visualization. © 1997-2012 IEEE.

This paper deals with the design and implementation of adaptive nonlinear predictive control (NMPC). The resulting control system is deployed on a softPLC embedded target in real-time via the REXYGEN control system. The paper describes functional prototype using softPLC hosting the NMPC algorithm applied for a nonlinear system consisting of three coupled tanks. The NMPC algorithm is solved via the receding horizon control method (RHC), formulated as a nonlinear programming problem (NLP) and numerically computed using the SOLNP solver. The adaptivity is provided by online identification via moving horizon estimation (MHE), keeping the model updated to avoid a model-plant mismatch. The methodology described in this paper can be easily transferred to a wider group of industrial nonlinear processes. Such created control unit can run in a standalone mode or can be connected to some exiting control system providing a necessary computational power and thus upgrading the quality of control significantly.

Leukemia is a kind of blood cancer that damages the cells in the blood and bone marrow of the human *** produces cancerous blood cells that disturb the human’s immune system and significantly affect bone marrow’s production ability to effectively create different types of blood cells like red blood cells(RBCs)and white blood cells(WBC),and *** can be diagnosed manually by taking a complete blood count test of the patient’s blood,from which medical professionals can investigate the signs of leukemia ***,two other methods,microscopic inspection of blood smears and bone marrow aspiration,are also utilized while examining the patient for ***,all these methods are labor-intensive,slow,inaccurate,and require a lot of human experience and *** authors have proposed automated detection systems for leukemia diagnosis to overcome these *** have deployed digital image processing and machine learning algorithms to classify the cells into normal and blast ***,these systems are more efficient,reliable,and fast than previous manual diagnosing ***,more work is required to classify leukemia-affected cells due to the complex characteristics of blood images and leukemia cells having much intra-class variability and inter-class *** this paper,we have proposed a robust automated system to diagnose leukemia and its *** have classified ALL into its sub-types based on FAB classification,i.e.,L1,L2,and L3 types with better *** have achieved 96.06%accuracy for subtypes classification,which is better when compared with the state-of-the-art methodologies.
