The content of the paper is the industrial application of enzyme hydrolysis of tanning solids waste with a view to minimizing the price of enzyme hydrolysate product, which has widely used. On the base of the energy balance of the enzymatic hydrolysis we estimated the critical minimal charge of a tanning drum. We performed of the critical minimal on the basis of a balance model for heat transport from reaction mixture into the environment through reactor wall. Employing a tanning drum for hydrolytic reaction allows to process tanning wastes in the place of their origin. It means thus considerably to enhancing economics of the whole process. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2017.

This paper contents one possibility of PCB separation due to the temperature due to the different thermal expansion of the metal path and the plastic from which the boards are made. Using the knowledge from the literary study and the simulation environments used, we have reached the maximum analysis of the problem. The separation of metal and plastic may occur due to temperature changes if the temperature difference is sufficient. We have carried out a study of printed circuit board production so we can choose the appropriate path of separation. Furthermore, we calculated the shear stress size required to tear the conductive copper paths from the epoxy resin. The temperature field in a two-layer board was modeled in the FEMLAB and Pro/ENGINEER programming environments. From the simulated temperature field simulations, conclusions can be drawn that accurately describe the condition and characteristics of materials subjected to heat shock. They derived the resulting relationship for calculating the resulting shear stress needed to separate the conductive paths and plastic materials of the PCB. In our own experiments, we used several ways to heat PCBs. The temperature is also sufficient for the separation of tin. After using the mechanical separation of the components, they were dropped from the PCB. Mechanical separation was also used when removing conductive paths. This separation is effective, but in the newer types of PCBs, the cyclical effects of thermal shock have to be applied to the separation of copper paths. Laboratory tests have demonstrated the viability of the proposed solution. The proposed method of recycling could lead to industrial use, which requires consistent sorting of waste electrical and electronic equipment. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2017.

The viability of any multi-level meta-modeling technology clings on the correct and exact definition of the underlying instantiation concept. Although multi-level instantiation has been well researched and conceptualized, current methodologies mostly limit their scopes to design-time modeling. Hence, state-of-the-art meta-modeling seriously neglects important practical needs of run-time modeling. In this paper, we present two incarnations of our Dynamic Multi-Level Algebra (DMLA), a modular, semantically correct multi-level meta-modeling formalism consisting of (i) an algebraic ASM foundation, (ii) a flexibly replaceable bootstrap mechanism for defining modelled entities, (iii) a corresponding set of logical validation formulae for establishing instantiation semantics. The expected features of DMLA clearly derive from practical modeling needs so that the resulting mechanism be applicable for both design-time and run-time modeling. The core components of the theory are explained both individually and by comparing their two versions of DMLA. Hence, the aim of this style of presentation is to showcase the balance struck between parsimoniousness and wanted modularity within our semantically correct, practical multi-level meta-modeling approach. A simplified networking model is also included to demonstrate the approach.

GrainAutLine is an interdisciplinary microscopy image analysis tool with domain specific smart functions to partially automate the processing of marble thin section images. It allows the user to create a clean grain boundary image which is a starting point of several archaeometric and geologic analyses. The semi-automatic tools minimize the need for carefully drawing the grain boundaries manually, even in cases where twin crystals prohibit the use of classic edge detection based boundary detection. Due to the semi-automatic approach, the user has full control over the process and can modify the automatic results before finalizing a specific step. This approach guarantees high quality results both in cases where the process is easy to automate, and also if it needs more help from the user. This paper presents the basic operation of the system and details about the provided tools as a case study for an interdisciplinary, semi-automatic image processing application.

Background: The sustainable development goals (SDGs) aim to end HIV/AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. Understanding the current state of the HIV epidemic and its change over time is essential to this effort. This study assesses the current sex-specific HIV burden in 204 countries and territories and measures progress in the control of the epidemic. Methods: To estimate age-specific and sex-specific trends in 48 of 204 countries, we extended the Estimation and Projection Package Age-Sex Model to also implement the spectrum paediatric model. We used this model in cases where age and sex specific HIV-seroprevalence surveys and antenatal care-clinic sentinel surveillance data were available. For the remaining 156 of 204 locations, we developed a cohort-incidence bias adjustment to derive incidence as a function of cause-of-death data from vital registration systems. The incidence was input to a custom Spectrum model. To assess progress, we measured the percentage change in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 (threshold >75% decline), the ratio of incident cases to number of people living with HIV (incidence-to-prevalence ratio threshold <0·03), and the ratio of incident cases to deaths (incidence-to-mortality ratio threshold <1·0). Findings: In 2019, there were 36·8 million (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 35·1–38·9) people living with HIV worldwide. There were 0·84 males (95% UI 0·78–0·91) per female living with HIV in 2019, 0·99 male infections (0·91–1·10) for every female infection, and 1·02 male deaths (0·95–1·10) per female death. Global progress in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 was driven by sub-Saharan Africa (with a 28·52% decrease in incident cases, 95% UI 19·58–35·43, and a 39·66% decrease in deaths, 36·49–42·36). Rapid increase of the renewable energy share in electricity production requires optimization and flexibility of the power consumption side. Thermostatically controlled loads (TCLs) have a large potential for regulation service provision. Economic model predictive control (MPC) is an advanced control method which can be used to syncronize the power consumption with undispatchable renewable electricity production. Thermal behavior of TCLs can be described by linear models based on energy balance of the system. In some cases, parameters of the model may be time-varying. In this work, we present a modified economic MPC based on linear parameter-varying model. In particular, we provide an exact transformation from a standard economic MPC formulation to a linear program. We assume that the variables influencing the model parameters are known (predictable) for the prediction horizon of the controller. As a case study, we present control system that minimizes operational cost of swimming pool heating system, where parameters of the model depend on the weather forecast. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method is able to deal with this kind of systems.

Background: High-resolution estimates of HIV burden across space and time provide an important tool for tracking and monitoring the progress of prevention and control efforts and assist with improving the precision and efficiency of targeting efforts. We aimed to assess HIV incidence and HIV mortality for all second-level administrative units across sub-Saharan Africa. Methods: In this modelling study, we developed a framework that used the geographically specific HIV prevalence data collected in seroprevalence surveys and antenatal care clinics to train a model that estimates HIV incidence and mortality among individuals aged 15–49 years. We used a model-based geostatistical framework to estimate HIV prevalence at the second administrative level in 44 countries in sub-Saharan Africa for 2000–18 and sought data on the number of individuals on antiretroviral therapy (ART) by second-level administrative unit. We then modified the Estimation and Projection Package (EPP) to use these HIV prevalence and treatment estimates to estimate HIV incidence and mortality by second-level administrative unit. Findings: The estimates suggest substantial variation in HIV incidence and mortality rates both between and within countries in sub-Saharan Africa, with 15 countries having a ten-times or greater difference in estimated HIV incidence between the second-level administrative units with the lowest and highest estimated incidence levels. Across all 44 countries in 2018, HIV incidence ranged from 2·8 (95% uncertainty interval 2·1–3·8) in Mauritania to 1585·9 (1369·4–1824·8) cases per 100 000 people in Lesotho and HIV mortality ranged from 0·8 (0·7–0·9) in Mauritania to 676·5 (513·6–888·0) deaths per 100 000 people in Lesotho. This article introduces the possibilities of the simulation and visualisation of the "Twin-Rotor MIMO System" laboratory model outputs by means of various support software tools. The 3D model of the system, (used for simulation and visualisation), is designed in SolidWorks 3D CAD software. Matlab/Simulink with extension libraries like Simscape and 3D Animation - (formerly Virtual Reality Toolbox), is used for 3D visualisation and simulation. The 3D Animation toolbox is only used for the visualisation of the mathematical and real models. The Simscape library - on the other hand, is used for the validation of the reverse control of the derived mathematical models correctness and for simulation and analysis purposes as a suitable substitution for real models. As a result of this, these supporting software tools streamline the overall suggested controls - from analysis to presentation of the results.

The paper is focused on systems with delay terms at the left (and the right) side of differential equations. Analysis and synthesis of delay systems can be conveniently studied through a special ring of RQ-meromorphic functions. The control methodology is based on a solution of Diophantine equations in this ring. Final controllers result in the Smith predictor like structure. controller parameters are tuned through a pole-placement problem as a desired multiple root of the characteristic closed loop equation. The methodology is illustrated by a stable second order transfer function with a dead-time term. Then the paper brings an autotuning method as a combination of biased-relay feedback estimation and the proposed algebraic control design. The developed approach is illustrated by examples in the Matlab and Simulink environment.
