This paper proposes a platform referred to as nDSP to interconnect different software audio signal processing effects which are modularized. The new platform is focused on having all processing done by the system CPU at higher quality than that achieved using hardware DSPs. The software representation of the module inside the platform is defined such that its state can be externally controlled, therefore the design of self-tuning filters is allowed. The design aims the further use of software audio signal processing in low-cost audiophile loudspeaker systems taking full advantage of the new personal computer hardware products.

There is an increasing need to support telemedicine with advanced technology. Currently, long distance telesurgical systems are only used on Earth for research purposes, but the military and the space agencies are interested in the spatial extension of effective surgical treatment through remote teleoperation. One of the major limitations of future systems is the communication lag time. In the case of the envisioned human exploratory space missions to Moon and Mars, the signal latency can be several seconds or even minutes. This paper deals with theoretical and practical aspects of the problem. Modeling approaches are discussed, proposing simplified human and machine representations to accommodate long distance telesurgical applications. Further, classical control methods are presented based on cascade control, focusing on teleoperation. A suitable controller can be designed with an empirical controller of the inner loop, based on Kessler methods, while the outer loop can be based on predictive control.

This paper deals with a possibility of non-destructive diagnostics of solid objects by software analysis of vibration spectrum by accelerometers. By a use of MATLAB platform, a processing and information evaluation from accelerometer is possible. Accelerometer is placed on the measured object. The analog signal needs to be digitized by a special I/O device to be processed offline with FFT (Fast Fourier Transformation). The power spectrum is then examined by developed evaluating procedures.

This paper deals with utilization possibility of a kinematical couple of screw-matrix in minimachine mechatronic concept which is assigned to move within the pipes having less than 25 mm of the inner diameter. The principle of the movement for a straightforward motion consists in transformation of the actuator rotary movement through a screw and a nut to the linear motion. It causes a change of distance between the front and rear parts of the minimachine modules. Due to minimization of the dimensions, the electrical control and power supply components are placed outside of the minimachine operating area. The control module is based on a programmable integrated circuit (PIC).

The paper presents aspects concerning the modeling and driving scenarios of a class of vehicular power train systems. The modeling includes an analysis of the system components which include the spark-ignition internal combustion engine, the torque converter, the metal V-belt type continuously variable transmission and the wheels. Four driving scenarios are illustrated by digital simulation results: acceleration, overtaking maneuver, ramp encounter and engine brake.

This paper suggests a new stability analysis approach dedicated to a class of fuzzy control systems controlling multi input-multi output (MIMO) nonlinear processes by means of Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy logic controllers. The approach is based on LaSalle's global invariant set theorem, and an original stability theorem offers sufficient stability conditions. The applicability and efficiency of the theoretical results are illustrated by a MIMO case study dealing with the fuzzy control of a spherical three tank system.

This paper introduces a new open-source cross-platform software library written in C++ programming language which is able to serialize and deserialize hierarchically arranged class instances and their data members via XML files. The library provides easy and efficient way for processing, storing and managing complex object-oriented data with relationships between object instances. The library is based on mature cross-platform toolkit called wxWidgets and thus can be successfully used on many target platforms such as MS Windows, Linux or OS X. The library is published under open source licence and can be freely utilised in both open source and commercial projects. In this article, we describe the inner structure of the library, its key algorithms and principles and also demonstrate its usage on a set of simple examples.

This paper deals with direction of sound wave arrival determination using time-delay estimation and beamforming methods with utilization of static microphone array with fixed geometry configuration. Theoretical part describes main principle of both methods and possibility of program implementation. Experimental part proposes hardware design of the sensory systems separately for time-delay estimation and beamforming evaluation methods due to different requirements on microphone array structure. Developed localization system is based on standard personal computer equipped with Advantech PCI-1716 multichannel data acquisition device.
