Precise real-time prediction of the number of future network attacks cannot only prompt cloud infrastructures to fast respond to them and protect network security, but also prevents economic and business losses. In recent years, neural networks, e.g., Bi-direction Long and Short Term Memory (LSTM) and Temporal Convolutional Network (TCN), have been proven to be suitable for predicting time series data. Attention mechanisms are also widely used for the time series prediction. In this work, we propose a novel hybrid deep learning prediction method by combining the capabilities of a Savitzky-Golay (SG) filter, TCN, Multi-head self attention, and BiLSTM for the prediction of network attacks. This work first adopts a SG filter to eliminate noise in the raw data. It applies TCN to extract short-term features from the sequences. It then adopts multi-head self attention to capture intrinsic connections among features. Finally, this work adopts Bi-LSTM to extract bi-directional and long-term correlations in the sequences. Experimental results with a real-life dataset show that the proposed method outperforms several typical algorithms in terms of prediction accuracy. © 2022 IEEE.

Currently, cloud computing service providers face big challenges in predicting large-scale workload and resource usage time series. Due to the difficulty in capturing nonlinear features, traditional forecasting methods usually fail to achieve high performance in predicting resource usage and workload sequences. Much noise implicit in the original sequences of resources and workloads is another reason for their low performance. To address these problems, this work proposes a hybrid prediction model named SABG that integrates an adaptive Savitzky-Golay (SG) filter, Attention mechanism, Bidirectional and Grid versions of Long and Short Term Memory (LSTM) networks. SABG adopts an adaptive SG filter in the data pre-processing to eliminate noise and extreme points in the original time series. It uses bidirectional and grid LSTM networks to capture bidirectional features and dimension ones, respectively. Then, it utilizes an attention mechanism to explore importance of different data dimensions. SABG aims to predict resource usage and workloads in highly variable traces in cloud computing systems. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that SABG achieves higher-accuracy prediction than several benchmark prediction approaches with datasets from Google cluster traces. © 2022 IEEE.

Measuring 5G systems is a major challenge for measurement engineers, who need to be aware of all the limitations of the new generation The parameters of the frequency-selective measurement system (spectrum analyzer - ROHDE & SCHWARZ FSH8) were investigated in the measurement of 5G NR SSB signals (3.4 – 3.8 GHz). The focus was on the setting parameters which, according to the literature, have an influence on the measurement: RBW, VBW, SWEEP TIME and the duration of the measurement. All measurements were carried out in zero-span mode. In the second part of the measurement, these SSB synchronization signal measurement results were compared with the 5G signal measurement results at the same location using the NARDA SRM-3006 device equipped with a decoder for the 5G NR system (FR1) to determine the optimal method for measuring these signals with a spectrum analyzer (SA).The measurement results show that the resolution bandwidth (RBW) has the largest variation in the measured electric field (EF) strength values of the SSB 5G NR signal of 17.20 dB (MH/RMS) and 17.70 (RMS/AGV10). It is therefore necessary to pay particular attention to the setting of this measurement parameter. In addition, the video resolution (VBW) shows a significantly lower field strength variation of 2.50 dB, but also the same deviation from the reference value of 2.50 dB (RMS/AGV10). Other analyzed parameters have a negligible influence on the measurement of the EF *** post-processing was performed in the work to determine the final (maximum) value of the EF strength at the points of assumed highest exposure, which is used to assess the impact and compliance with the permissible values according to the relevant standards.

Soft manipulators are known for their superiority in coping with high-safety-demanding interaction tasks, e.g., robot-assisted surgeries, elderly caring, etc. Yet the challenges residing in real-time contact feedback have hindered further applications in precise manipulation. This paper proposes an end-to-end network to estimate the 3D contact force of the soft robot, with the aim of enhancing its capabilities in interactive tasks. The presented method features directly utilizing monocular images fused with multidimensional actuation information as the network inputs. This approach simplifies the preprocessing of raw data compared to related studies that utilize 3D shape information for network inputs, consequently reducing configuration reconstruction errors. The unified feature representation module is devised to elevate low-dimensional features from the system's actuation signals to the same level as image features, facilitating smoother integration of multimodal information. The proposed method has been experimentally validated in the soft robot testbed, achieving satisfying accuracy in 3D force estimation (with a mean relative error of 0.84% compared to the best-reported result of 2.2% in the related works).

This article delves into the synergistic potential of integrating Bipolar DC distribution grids, Probabilistic EV load demand forecasting, and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology. It offers a blueprint for electric vehicle (EV) users to smartly improve their financial results. Through the amalgamation of these components, individuals who possess electric vehicles have the potential to mitigate their energy expenditures while concurrently generating additional income. The study reveals that the integration of EV into the distribution system can lead to a substantial increase in daily energy loss, reaching up to 25.91%. However, when V2G technology is employed within the distribution grid, it has the remarkable capability to mitigate this increase in daily energy loss significantly, achieving a reduction of up to 64.12%.

Using machine vision for meter reading significantly enhances the efficiency of industrial monitoring. However, meters in outdoor environment are often subject to the noise such as rain and fog, which affect the accuracy of meter readings. Additionally, the meter images and labels under noise are hard to obtain. To address these challenges, We propose a method for pointer meter reading under noise based on virtual data generation. Firstly, We utilize Unity to construct an industrial meter scene, which generates the images of meter under noise and theri labels. Secondly, we develop a U-Net network with an ASPP module, which expands the receptive field of network and enhances the ability of segmentation network to capture global semantic information under noise. Finally, the angular method is used to calculate the meter readings. Experimental results show that this method can effectively read meters under noise in outdoor environments.

In the process of CT scanning, multi-Angle projection data needs to be obtained from a large number of projection actions, which makes the scanned individual bear the risk of high radiation exposure. In order to solve such problems, the use of sparse projection data for CT image reconstruction is proposed as a new type of solution. The previous research can obtain good quality reconstructed images when the projection data is sparse by using the CT reconstruction technology based on the nonlinear sparsity transformation of compressed sensing. However, the heavy time loading of the image reconstruction is a practical problem that needs to be solved urgently. This study optimizes the non-linear filtering process of the regularization term of the original scheme, and proposes a novel method which replaces the original non-linear filter with a low-pass frequency domain filter. This strategy effectively utilizes the properties of low-pass frequency domain filtering in image processing. The excellent properties include high efficiency and low time complexity for image smoothing. The simulation experiment results show that in the process of CT image reconstruction using compressed sensing algorithm, the low-pass frequency domain filtering of the new scheme can greatly reduce the required time in the reconstruction of sparse projection data, and the image quality is feasibly guaranteed. © 2022 ACM.

Recent advancements in LiDAR-Inertial Odometry (LIO) have boosted a large amount of applications. However, traditional LIO systems tend to focus more on localization rather than mapping, with maps consisting mostly of sparse geometric elements, which is not ideal for downstream tasks. Recent emerging neural field technology has great potential in dense mapping, but pure LiDAR mapping is difficult to work on high-dynamic vehicles. To mitigate this challenge, we present a new solution that tightly couples geometric kinematics with neural fields to enhance simultaneous state estimation and dense mapping capabilities. We propose both semi-coupled and tightly coupled Kinematic-Neural LIO (KN-LIO) systems that leverage online SDF decoding and iterated error-state Kalman filtering to fuse laser and inertial data. Our KN-LIO minimizes information loss and improves accuracy in state estimation, while also accommodating asynchronous multi-LiDAR inputs. Evaluations on diverse high-dynamic datasets demonstrate that our KN-LIO achieves performance on par with or superior to existing state-of-the-art solutions in pose estimation and offers improved dense mapping accuracy over pure LiDAR-based methods. In this work, an attempt is made for the first time to use the measurement pattern generated by morphological transformation quantified by Hausdorff fractal dimension (HFD) and classified with ensemble learning based on bagging. The proposed work uses three morphological transformations for image preprocessing: hit-and-miss transform (HMT), white (WHT), and black top-hat (BHT). The pattern texture of US breast images is described by extracting the HFD from the regions of interest (ROI) after the ultrasound (US) images have been preprocessed. The main objective of this study was achieved by comparatively analyzing the classification performance of features using the Random Forest (RF), Extra Trees (ET) classifier, and bagging ensemble method based on XGBoot classifier. In presented study, the XGBoost classifier and BHT image processing method give an accuracy of 89.8% in a binary classification, benign versus malignant breast cancer.
