Quantifying the average communication rate (ACR) of a networked event-triggered stochastic control system (NET-SCS) with deterministic thresholds is challenging due to the non-stationary nature of the system's stochastic processes. For a NET-SCS, the nonlinear statistics propagation of the network communication status brought up by deterministic thresholds makes the precise computation of ACR difficult. Previous work used to oversimplify the computation using a Gaussian distribution without incorporating this nonlinearity, leading to sacrificed precision. This paper proposes both analytical and numerical approaches to predict the exact ACR for a NET-SCS using a recursive model. We use theoretical analysis and a numerical study to qualitatively evaluate the deviation gap of the conventional approach that ignores the side information. The accuracy of our proposed method, alongside its comparison with the simplified results of the conventional approach, is validated by experimental studies. The complex permeability of magnetic cores acts as a vital factor in electromagnetic interference (EMI) filtering choke design and optimization. Many efforts have been reported for toroid cores, but fewer target those with other shapes, such as EE, EI, UU, and UI cores. Owing to their commonly used in planar EMI filters, determining the complex permeability of them is of significance. Targeting EE cores, this paper presents a flexible printed circuit board (PCB)-based fixture adapter tailored designed for performing the measurement, while the corresponding core permeability can be calculated through magnetic flux path length analysis. The experiments validate the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed methods, spanning a wide frequency range up to 120 MHz.

The purpose of this study is to construct a sensorless vector control system for an induction motor (IM) with a promising split-source inverter (SSI) arrangement, along with an effective speed estimation approach. Indirect Magnetic Field Orientation Scheme (IRFOC) is a simplified approach that will be presented for monitoring the rotor speed signal based on the relation of phase-axis for the motor. Extensive analysis to assure the observability of the suggested split-source inverter-based sensorless control system is carried out, and it is supported by results from typical functional tests and parameter modifications. In comparison to the sensorless vector control approach, the results demonstrate the efficacy of the suggested speed estimation method as well as the observability and robustness of the implemented system.

It has become evident that pneumatic muscle-based robots are the most compliant of all soft and semi-soft robotic testbeds under investigation, despite the fact that the artificial muscle-based robot is the most challenging due to its hyperelastic behavior resulting from the constitutive elastic material. The purpose of this paper is to examine the development of a physical pneumatic actuation testbed and the application of control strategies for precision small scale soft robotics control. Moreover, an adaptive PI-Fuzzy like control is proposed for reference signal tracking. It is imperative to note that in this application, the controller's performance is determined by its ability to track a reference signal as well as its ability to minimize the absolute tracking error. The Fuzzy Logic controller (FLC) controller, including the nature of the membership functions and the rule base, is described in detail. Simulations and hardware testing have revealed that the adaptive PI-Fuzzy like controller outperforms the traditional FLC controller in terms of experimental results. Additionally, the actuation speed is controlled under different loading conditions. It is considered that the proposed testbed is capable of controlling and managing multi-configurations of medium to small scale soft-based robots efficiently and effectively. © 2023 IEEE.

A computationally lightweight safe learning algorithm

Safety is an essential asset when learning control policies for physical systems, as violating safety constraints during training can lead to expensive hardware damage. In response to this need, the field of safe learning has emerged with algorithms that can provide probabilistic safety guarantees without knowledge of the underlying system dynamics. Those algorithms often rely on Gaussian process inference. Unfortunately, Gaussian process inference scales cubically with the number of data points, limiting applicability to high-dimensional and embedded systems. In this paper, we propose a safe learning algorithm that provides probabilistic safety guarantees but leverages the Nadaraya-Watson estimator instead of Gaussian processes. For the Nadaraya-Watson estimator, we can reach logarithmic scaling with the number of data points. We provide theoretical guarantees for the estimates, embed them into a safe learning algorithm, and show numerical experiments on a simulated seven-degrees-of-freedom robot manipulator. As location-based service technology continues to develop, people's demand for positioning technology is increasing. Satellite positioning technology can be widely used for positioning in outdoor environments. However, due to the weak penetration ability of satellite signals into buildings, the application of this technology in indoor environments faces many limitations. Therefore, there is an urgent need to conduct in-depth research on reliable indoor positioning technology. Among commonly used indoor positioning technologies, indoor positioning technology based on WLAN signals has the advantages of wide coverage, low deployment cost, easy installation, and non-line-of-sight propagation, so it shows excellent universality. This article proposes a Wi-Fi Positioning Method Based on convolutional autoencoder and device heterogeneity compensation. This paper proposes a method to reduce the energy consumption of an industrial disassembly process implemented on a production line by using an energy-efficient secondary disassembly process. In the case of defective products, the flow directs the simple product with priority to be disassembled in workstation (WS) 7. Therefore, all defective products are redirected to WS7. The disassembly of all simple products in WS7 is problematic for two reasons: the power consumption of WS7 is high compared to the other workstations, additionally there is an increased possibility of bottlenecks in the production line due to the high disassembly time. The proposed solution to reduce the possibility of deadlock and reduce power consumption is to redirect the defective products to the flexible cell (FC). Handling robots located in neighboring stations will participate collaboratively in the disassembly process. The control structure ensures that the two robots "meet" in the boundary plane of WS3 with WS4 and disassemble each component through collaborative tasks. Collaborative control of disassembly is thought of as a solution to the global "fluidization" of production, removing the bottleneck, from the overall flow, but also as an ingenious solution to reduce energy consumption.

This paper provides an analysis of the current state-of-The-Art technologies in the field of auto-operators used in production during the electroplating process. General schemes of operations are presented, benefits and drawbacks of each scheme are discussed. The paper discusses an increase in the operating efficiency of the auto-operator in transient conditions (braking and acceleration) by reducing suspension oscillations and provides an example of a similar problem from other industries. In addition to the classification of the auto-operators, three main ways and control methods of the auto-operator of a galvanic line are presented. The main ways of eliminating oscillations during the movement of the auto-operator, as well as the rationale for the choice of adaptive (optimal) control, based on and comparing the basic control algorithms of the robot manipulator, are discussed. The comparative analysis of algorithms used to determine the optimal control has been carried out. Application field of each optimal control method described, moreover advantages and disadvantages as well as implementation methods described. Bellman dynamic programming method was chosen to eliminate oscillations of the suspension with details during the auto-operator transient conditions, the chosen method takes into account all necessary conditions to achieve the desired result. © 2021 Budapest University of technology and Economics. Joint Uplink and Downlink Rate Splitting for Fog Computing-Enabled Internet of Medical Things

The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) facilitates in-home electronic healthcare, transforming traditional hospitalbased medical examination approaches. This paper proposes a novel transmit scheme for fog computing-enabled IoMT that leverages uplink and downlink rate splitting (RS). Fog computing allows offloading partial computation tasks to the edge server and processing the remainder of the tasks locally. The uplink RS and downlink RS utilize their flexible interference management capabilities to suppress offloading and feedback delay. Our overarching goal is to minimize the total time cost for task offloading, data processing, and result feedback. The resulting problem requires the joint design of task offloading, computing resource allocation, uplink beamforming, downlink beamforming, and common rate allocation. To solve the formulated nonconvex problem, we introduce several auxiliary variables and then construct accurate surrogates to smooth the achievable rate. Moreover, we derive the optimal computation resource allocation per user with closed-form expressions. On this basis, we recast the computing resource allocation and energy consumption at the base station to a convex constraint set. We finally develop an alternating optimization algorithm to update the auxiliary variable and inherent variable alternately. Simulation results show that our transmit scheme and algorithm exhibit considerable performance enhancements over several benchmarks. © 2024, CC BY.

Nowadays, the applications of water quality prediction in the field of regional water environment management are increasing. It refers to predicting the elemental values of the water environment in the future based on past monitoring data, which is essential to realize the real-time evaluation of water quality and dynamic control of pollution sources. However, the water environment indicators are affected by various elements, which have a large volatility and non-linear characteristics. In addition, most of the existing water quality predictions focus on single-step predictive modeling of single elements of the water environment and lack multi-step predictive analysis of multifactor data of the water environment. In this paper, a novel long-term prediction model based on genetic simulated annealing-based particle swarm optimization (GSPSO) with seasonal-trend decomposition using LOESS (STL) is proposed and named GSPSO-STL-Autoformer (GS-Autoformer). It realizes the multi-factor and long-term prediction of water quality time series data. Firstly, the Autoformer’s hyperparameters are optimized by the GSPSO to improve its convergence speed. Secondly, the multi-factor features are decomposed by the STL to make the model more focused on learning feature information of each component. Finally, the long-term prediction is realized by the Autoformer. Comparative experiments with state-of-the-art peers show that the GS-Autoformer can effectively improve the accuracy of multi-factor and long-term predictions.
