This article investigates a fractional-order coupled Hindmarsh-Rose neural networks model. Firstly, the existence and stability of an equilibrium point in the system are verified. Then, the periodic bifurcation behavior of the system on a two-parameter plane is studied, and numerical simulations show the existence of both non -chaotic and chaotic plus periodic bifurcation behavior on the two-parameter plane. Finally, a feedback controller was designed to stabilize the bifurcation point of the delayed system and increase the stable range of the system.

Reduced Network Cumulative Constraint Violation for Distributed Bandit Convex Optimization under Slater’s Condition

This paper studies the distributed bandit convex optimization problem with time-varying inequality constraints, where the goal is to minimize network regret and cumulative constraint violation. To calculate network cumulative constraint violation, existing distributed bandit online algorithms solving this problem directly use the clipped constraint function to replace its original constraint function. However, the use of the clipping operation renders Slater’s condition (i.e, there exists a point that strictly satisfies the inequality constraints at all iterations) ineffective to achieve reduced network cumulative constraint violation. To tackle this challenge, we propose a new distributed bandit online primal–dual algorithm. If local loss functions are convex, we show that the proposed algorithm establishes an O(T max{c,1−c})network regret bound and an O(T 1−c/2) network cumulative constraint violation bound, where T is the total number of iterations and c ∈ (0, 1) is a user-defined trade-off parameter. When Slater’s condition holds, the network cumulative constraint violation bound is reduced to O(T 1−c). In addition, if local loss functions are strongly convex, for the case where strongly convex parameters are unknown, the network regret bound is reduced to O(T1−c), and the network cumulative constraint violation bound is O(T1−c/2) and O(T1−c) without and with Slater’s condition, respectively. For the case where strongly convex parameters are known, the network regret bound is further reduced to O)(log(T)), and the network cumulative constraint violation bound is reduced to O(log(T)T) and O(log(T)) without and with Slater’s condition, respectively. To the best of our knowledge, this paper is among the first to establish reduced (network) cumulative constraint violation bounds for (distributed) bandit convex optimization with time-varying constraints under Slater’s condition. This paper considers the problem of monitoring and adaptively estimating an environmental field, such as temperature or salinity, using an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). The AUV moves in the field and persistently measures environmental scalars and its position in its local coordinate frame. The environmental scalars are approximately linearly distributed over the region of interest, and an adaptive estimator is designed to estimate the gradient. By orthogonal decomposition of the velocity of the AUV, a linear time-varying system is equivalently constructed, and the sufficient conditions on the motion of the AUV are established, under which the global exponential stability of the estimation error system is rigorously proved. Furthermore, an estimate of the exponential convergence rate is given, and a reference trajectory that maximizes the estimate of the convergence rate is obtained for the AUV to track. Numerical examples verify the stability and efficiency of the system.

This paper presents a model-predictive-enabled equivalent-input-disturbance (MPEID) method for disturbance rejection. An EID estimator with a state observer estimates the effect of disturbances in a system. The disturbance estimation will not be directly added to the input channel for disturbance rejection. A cost function that considers the disturbance estimation is designed. An MPC controller calculates an optimal control input by minimizing the cost function. The stability condition of the closed-loop system is analyzed based on the Lyapunov stability theory. Simulation results show that our method has better disturbance-rejection performance than an MPC method when the control input is similar.

Digital platforms that manage manufacturing applications are complex systems that must provide flexibility to support the execution and reconfiguration of manufacturing plans. The use of modeling approaches may help dealing with this complexity, but the information models should be based on industrial standards to enable their applicability to different manufacturing scenarios. This work contributes a modeling approach towards the definition of information models for achieving manufacturing flexibility in accordance with the reference architecture RAMI 4.0. To that end, this work analyses the reference models that made up RAMI 4.0 to align their requirements with those necessary to support manufacturing flexibility. As a proof of concept, this work illustrates the application of the proposed models in an agent-based platform. © 2020 IEEE.

Local to Global: A Distributed Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm for Pseudo-Boolean Optimization Problems

With the rapid advancement of quantum computing, Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA) is considered as a promising candidate to demonstrate quantum supremacy, which exponentially solves a class of Quadratic Unconstrained Binary Optimization (QUBO) problems. However, limited qubit availability and restricted coherence time challenge QAOA to solve large-scale pseudo-Boolean problems on currently available Near-term Intermediate Scale Quantum (NISQ) devices. In this paper, we propose a distributed QAOA which can solve a general pseudo-Boolean problem by converting it to a simplified Ising model. Different from existing distributed QAOAs’ assuming that local solutions are part of a global one, which is not often the case, we introduce community detection using Louvian algorithm to partition the graph where subgraphs are further compressed by community representation and merged into a higher level subgraph. Recursively and backwards, local solutions of lower level subgraphs are updated by heuristics from solutions of higher level subgraphs. Compared with existing methods, our algorithm incorporates global heuristics into local solutions such that our algorithm is proven to achieve a higher approximation ratio and outperforms across different graph configurations. In this paper, we focus on an asynchronous distributed optimization problem. In our problem, each node is endowed with a convex local cost function, and is able to communicate with its neighbors over a directed communication network. Furthermore, we assume that the communication channels between nodes have limited bandwidth, and each node suffers from processing delays. We present a distributed algorithm which combines the Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (ADMM) strategy with a finite time quantized averaging algorithm. In our proposed algorithm, nodes exchange quantized valued messages and operate in an asynchronous fashion. More specifically, during every iteration of our algorithm each node (i) solves a local convex optimization problem (for the one of its primal variables), and (ii) utilizes a finite-time quantized averaging algorithm to obtain the value of the second primal variable (since the cost function for the second primal variable is not decomposable). We show that our algorithm converges to the optimal solution at a rate of O(1/k) (where k is the number of time steps) for the case where the local cost function of every node is convex and not-necessarily differentiable. Finally, we demonstrate the operational advantages of our algorithm against other algorithms from the literature. © 2023, CC BY.

This study conducts a comprehensive analysis of optimizing the speed profile of an AE-bus, a critical step in enhancing its operational efficiency. It encompasses three distinct case studies, each targeting specific objectives. The first case emphasizes energy consumption reduction, contributing to overall resource efficiency. The second focuses on eco-conscious speed profiles within predefined travel durations, balancing environmental sustainability and timeliness. The third case prioritizes travel time minimization for streamlined efficiency. Detailed insights into speed adjustments, bus positions, and energy consumption patterns are provided for each case. The findings reveal tailored approaches for energy conservation, speed, and travel time optimization. Additionally, emissions analysis demonstrates that electric buses significantly reduce CO 2 emissions compared to conventional NGV buses, showcasing their potential for environmental benefits.

With the rapid advances in computer vision, human action recognition has gradually received attention, but the current methods still exhibit some problems in indoor environments. The human skeleton, as the framework of human motion, contains high-quality actional feature information, and the skeleton-based action recognition method effectively avoid the interference of interior background noise and has advantages in indoor action recognition. The outstanding effect of graph convolutional networks on graph structure data processing has led to its rapid development and wide application in skeleton-based action recognition. Second-order skeletal information also contains a large number of actional features but is not effectively utilized. The artificial predefined topology of the human skeleton map has limitations, and cannot reflect the interaction between limbs. To solve the above problems, this article designs an adaptive weighted multi-stream graph convolutional network (AM-GCN) based on skeletal information, using an attention mechanism to enhance the network's ability to extract actional features, and an adaptive layer to make the construction graph more flexible, incorporating second-order skeletal features through a dual-stream architecture. In this article, the NTU-RGB+D dataset has been used for the experiments, the results show that the method in this article has good results.

Recent transformer-based methods for estimating 3D human pose have gained widespread attention, achieving state-of-the-art results. Previous methods have primarily focused on capturing motion patterns of the human body at a single scale or cascading multiple scales, such as joints, bones, and body-parts. However, they are difficult to simultaneously capture spatial-temporal motion patterns of the human body at different scales due to the complex motion patterns. To address this issue, we propose Dual-scale Spatial and Temporal transFormer (DSTFormer), which can concurrently explore the spatial dependencies and temporal motion patterns of human joints and bones. Additionally, we introduce a Gcn-Spatial Transformer Block (GSTB), which introduces Graph Convolutional Networks (GCN) into transformer to enhance the exploitation of local relationships and global information between adjacent joints or bones. Extensive experiments are conducted on the Human3.6M benchmark dataset, and superior results are reported when comparing to other state-of-the-art methods. More remarkably, our model achieves to-date the best published performance, with P1 errors of 37.9 mm and 15.6 mm, respectively.
