Examination timetabling (ET) is a complex multi-criteria task that cannot be solved with a precise method or algorithm. In each higher education institution (HEI) this problem is solved individually depending on the organization of the conducted education. A mathematical model is proposed for compiling an optimal examination timetabling in higher education institutions. All the parameters - control, resource, uncertain (with incomplete information), disturbance and target parameters of the mathematical model that determine the quality of the ET are considered. The large number of ET quality metrics is a prerequisite to consider different optimal ET solutions and to use the strategies to search for compromise optimal timetables. The agents' satisfaction is of particular importance in the optimal ET decision. A structure for optimal quality control of the learning process is proposed, which includes the role of optimal ET. The basic requirements for the composition of ET in HEI are defined. Based on this model, flexible and adaptable systems can be built to compose an optimal ET to meet the needs of a specific HEI. © 2023 IEEE.

The paper proposes a switching multiparametric control for an electrohydraulic servo system with throttle regulation. The architecture of a MISO (Multiple Input Single Output) control is considered, consisting of a conventional PID controller operating in the deviation control channel and a fuzzy PID controller operating in the disturbance channel. The main issues arising from the use of this type of control are discussed, and an analysis of the stability of the closed-loop system is conducted. Graphic results for the control quality of the designed system are obtained using a universal measurement and control module. The advantages of this type of control and the manifestation of additional robust qualities of the system are experimentally demonstrated. © 2024 IEEE.

The paper considers methods for ridge and valley detection in images, including maps of the earth's surface, both real and synthesized. The relevance of this task is due to the fact that the processing of digital elevation maps and the detection of informationally important objects on them has found wide application in agriculture, hydrogeological research, and road construction. The proposed methods make it possible to detect both ridges and valleys, as well as combined structures that include both types of objects. In this case, it is easy to vary both the general sensitivity of the method and the individual sensitivity to the ridge and valley detection. Modifications of the methods have also been proposed that provide a reduction in software and hardware complexity, which will make it possible to implement image processors on microcontrollers and FPGAs and use them in on-board equipment placed on drones. Algorithms can be accelerated, on the one hand, by rounding the coefficients of smoothing filters to powers of two, and, on the other hand, by accelerating the calculation of eigenvalues. The methods have proved their effectiveness in processing digital maps of the earth's surface. The results of the work can be used in the construction of software and hardware image processing systems. © 2023 IEEE.

The article considers the method of procedural generation of vegetation cover, taking into account various landscape parameters. The method allows you to create a multilevel vegetation model based on several plant species, take into account the geometry and surface parameters, the presence of natural and artificial obstacles, as well as introduce random deviations in the plants location and landscape parameters that imitate the influence of natural factors on the flora growth within the simulated landscape. Such techniques provide a virtual simulated environment that was reproduced from the real one, at an acceptable time and resource cost for the generation process. The proposed method can be used as part of a software for the simulation and training system of special purpose vehicle operators. © 2023 IEEE.

Pulse width modulation is widely used in modern engine control systems. With this control method, power is regulated by periodically turning on and off the load for a specified period of time. Mathematical models of dynamic systems with this control method are hybrid dynamic systems. To model such systems, it is necessary to take into account the features of continuous-event processes obtained by solving the Cauchy problem with a discontinuous right-hand side. In particular, not only special integration methods are required, but also event detection algorithms. The article discusses the detection algorithm implemented in the SimInTech software package at the structural level of model description. An analysis of the modeling accuracy was carried out using the example of a simple servo drive with pulse-width modulation with different options for event detection. The original detection algorithm in combination with the original ARK integration method was successfully tested when simulating servo drives with a pulse width modulator. © 2024 IEEE.

The simulating of a servo drive with symmetrical pulse width controlling is implemented by the ISMA platform. This task is classified as an event-continuous or hybrid system. Since the dynamic processes can be event-driven, the finite-state machine notation by D. Harel (statechart as formalism) is applied to build a mathematical model for the problem. The statechart with three states complying the Cauchy problem is designed, predicates for directed transitions, as well as states equations are defined. The original LISMA language, combining both block and textual coding, which allows to form compact models that correspond bijectively to statechart formalism used for event-driven continuous systems, is applied. A fragment of the LISMA language grammar for determining the states and transitions of hybrid systems is presented. The designed ISMA software is resolved by original explicit and semi-explicit numerical methods with the asymptotic algorithm for event detection, included to the ISMA library. Computer experiments demonstrate good results with sufficient accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

Now computer science methods are actively used in different areas of Industry 4.0., including in the postal service to automate the transportation of postal items. The problem of transportation is particularly acute for postal objects of large volumes and weights, as it is performed manually and is one of the most time-consuming operations. The article describes the development of a prototype intelligent robotic system with computer vision to recognize and transport such postal objects (parcels). An analysis of modern scientific and practical developments, methods and means of image processing, including methods of contour analysis, and video stream processing algorithms is carried out. The stages of design and integration of the computer vision subsystem into the robotic complex are described. © 2023 IEEE.

Mobile robots, which are produced to fulfill certain tasks to make our lives easier, are becoming more and more common in our environment day by day. In the long run, these robots can be more cost-effective, faster, and more efficient than humans in accomplishing tasks. In order for mobile robots to fulfill the tasks, they need to be able to safely navigate to specific destinations without hitting obstacles. Safely reaching a given goal most accurately and shortly is the problem of autonomy. This autonomy problem is divided into sub-problems and algorithms are needed to solve each sub-problem. The main sub-problems in the field of autonomy are localization, mapping, local planning, and global planning. The main purpose of this paper is to describe how the position information computed by a MEKF (Modified Extended Kalman Filter) localization algorithm using the VDPL (Virtual Dynamic Point Landmark) algorithm, which was previously designed in MATLAB, is published to the ROS environment via a topic. This position information can be used together with the local and global planning algorithms in the navigation stack to realize fully autonomous driving capability in a real-time environment. Using these algorithms, full-autonomous driving tests were conducted on the Turtlebot3 mobile robot in a real-time environment according to a predefined scenario. The performance results of both simulation and real-world tests show that the MEKF using the VDPL algorithm outperforms the AMCL algorithm in the navigation stack in both cases. © 2024 IEEE.

Computer aided control in biomedical applications is gaining more and more popularity due to numerous research studies that have proven the efficiency of automatic control over manual dosing, which is highly susceptible to human errors. Optimal drug dosing is best achieved using automatic control, which triggers important benefits in terms of both costs and patient side-effects. However, mathematical models for patients are highly susceptible to large modeling uncertainty. A predictive control algorithm is designed in this paper for optimal multidrug control of hemodynamic variables. Improved closed loop performance is obtained compared to similar control strategies, for ± 30% modeling uncertainty. The simulation results demonstrate that predictive control is a feasible solution for optimal drug dosing. An analysis of the closed loop performance for significant patient variability shows that controllers tuned using a nominal patient model often fail to achieve desired robustness. To limit the effect of modeling uncertainty, the prediction model should be updated using an online identification tool to extract patient features. © 2024 AACC.

The paper examines the influence of the working fluid temperature on power losses in an electro-hydraulic servo system. The behavior of the system has been investigated under Proportional-Integral (PI) control at different working fluid temperatures and various control setpoints. An Adaptive PID controller has been synthesized, utilizing feedback from sensors to measure various system parameters (such as temperature, pressure, and RPM), and then adapting the parameters of the P, I, and D components of the controller based on this data to achieve optimal regulation. © 2023 IEEE.
