Model Identification and control of Electromagnetic Actuation in Continuous Casting Process With Improved Quality

This paper presents an original theoretical framework to model steel material properties in continuous casting line process. Specific properties arising from non-Newtonian dynamics are herein used to indicate the natural convergence of distributed parameter systems to fractional order transfer function models. Data driven identification from a real continuous casting line is used to identify model of the electromagnetic actuator device to control flow velocity of liquid steel. To ensure product specifications, a fractional order control is designed and validated on the system. A projection of the closed loop performance onto the quality assessment at end production line is also given in this paper.

ERTMS and ALSN signalling systems are two of the major signalling systems that are under operation in the world. With the introduction of technical specifications for interoperability, ERTMS promises increased passenger and freight attractiveness and seamless cross-border operation. The ERTMS specifications recognise ETCS as a Class A train protection system and other signalling systems in Europe as Class B train protection systems. The specifications further define 'Specific Transmission Modules' (STMs) that enable trains with ETCS onboard to operate in railway lines that are equipped with Class B train protection systems. Although ALSN is classified as a Class B train protection system, ALSN STM is not defined yet. This paper focuses on proposing a novel ALSN STM that enables trains with ETCS onboard to operate in the countries where ALSN trackside is operational. The proposed STM unit is conceptualised as a system architecture, and a new standardised interface is introduced to enable signalling interoperability between ERTMS and ALSN. © 2023 IEEE.

The problems of simulation traffic flows arise in various areas of human activity, for example in the road industry and in the design of production lines. Various approaches are used to simulate traffic flows. One of them is the use of system dynamics methods. The use of system dynamics makes it possible to model traffic flow as a continuous system of ordinary differential equations. The presence of control algorithms in the model when using the system dynamics method leads to the appearance of additional nonlinearities with discontinuities of the first type. This leads to the fact that in certain regimes the system of differential equations becomes stiff. To solve these systems of equations, various integration methods can be used, including methods with a variable integration step. The use of methods with a variable integration step in combination with event detection methods makes it possible to perform calculations with a step significantly larger than when using discrete traffic flow models. © 2023 IEEE.

In the present work is investigated the impact of ambient temperature in the range of 20°C to 50°C under a change in relative humidity RH of 20% up to 92 % on the characteristics of a highly sensitive TiO2-SiO2-based thin-film impedance humidity sensor element doped with Ce and prepared by a sol-gel method. The variation of sensor impedance changes in a very wide range - about 4 orders of magnitude. The sensor element is connected in a measurement circuit based on an AC bridge, a variable gain amplifier, a precision rectifier, and a microcontroller with a built-in analog-to-digital converter. The use of artificial neural networks monitoring the ambient temperature and measured voltage is proposed for the realization of the temperature compensation of the characteristics. The proposed approach allows compensating the impact of temperature and performing measurements when connecting humidity sensing elements with a very wide range of impedance change. © 2023 IEEE.

The features of carrier-based aircraft’s navigation systems during the approach and landing phases are investigated.A new adaptive Kalman filter with unknown state noise statistics is proposed to improve the accuracy of the INS/GNSS integrated navigation *** adaptive filtering algorithm aims to estimate and adapt the unknown state noise covariance Q in high dynamic conditions,when the measurement noise covariance R is assumed to be known empirically in *** new adaptive Kalman filter based on the innovation sequence and pseudo-measurement vector approach makes it more effective to estimate and adapt *** simulation results and semi-physical experiments show that the application of the proposed adaptive Kalman filter can guarantee a higher estimation accuracy of the state variables.

This article presents a simple way for data management by means of a Web-based information system, which provides an opportunity to perform operations on structuring, storing and processing data from users on the Internet, and the management of these data in various processes (scientific, researching, etc.). The system is based on a hybrid model for structuring, storing, and processing data on the Internet. The description of the data structure is carried out in a way that is understandable for every user of the global network. This allows database design and construction to be carried out by any user in the global network, even if this user is not a specialist in this field and significantly shortens the database design time. In addition, each user can share his data with other users, which increases the amount of structured data on the Internet. That provides users to work together on various projects, perform analysis of the shared data and extract valuable information. © 2022 IEEE.

General anesthesia is used to induce a reversible loss of consciousness in a patient to ensure they are completely unaware and pain-free during a surgical procedure. This is achieved through the administration of a combination of drugs that depress the central nervous system and can include intravenous injections, inhaled gases, or a combination of both. During the anesthesia maintenance phase, the events in surgery are not continuous, but obey a profile similar to that endorsed by event-based control. The present study considers event-based control as a natural solution to the control challenge of general anesthesia. Two fractional order Proportional Integral (PI) controllers are tuned and implemented using a decentralized approach to control a part of general anesthesia based on hemodynamic variables. The results show that this approach can be successfully used to keep Cardiac Output and Mean Arterial Pressure stable, with a special focus on patient safety, through fast detection of surgical stimulus and robustness to inter/intra patient variability. © 2023 IEEE.

For more reliable diagnostics of heart, lungs and other internal organs diseases may be helpful to use digital filters, in particular, for selection the Bell, Diaphragm and Extended mode frequency ranges from auscultation signal. The urgency of this task is caused by the fact that auscultation is currently one of the main methods of clinical investigations. At the same time, when using traditional acoustic phonendoscopes and stethoscopes, to obtain reliable diagnostic signals, as a rule, a highly qualified practitioner is required. The analog active and passive filters used in electronic stethoscopes cannot provide the required accuracy and reliability. In this work it is suggested to use digital filters for separation of diagnostically important ranges. FIR and IIR filters were compared and characteristics of IIR filters of different types with different characteristics were analyzed. On the basis of the analysis of real auscultation signals the recommendations on the choice of the IIR filter parameters for selection of the Bell, Diaphragm and Extended frequency ranges were elaborated. The results of the work can be applied in the construction of microcontroller stethoscopes. © 2022 IEEE.

The article is devoted to the development and improvement of methods for controlling the power supply of high-capacity facilities with high consumption, which use Smart Grid technology. A task system has been established to develop general approaches and methods for modernizing operating complexes of radio electronic equipment, as well as synthesizing new power supply systems using Smart Grid technologies. The calculation of the energy storage required to compensate for the operation of the radio transmitter has been performed. A method for modernizing the power system of radio engineering research complexes, based on research conducted at the Ionosphere Institute, has been presented. The article provides the characteristics of the end cable couplings of the closed switchgear 110 kV at the electric steelmaking workshop of the metallurgical plant. The functions of the continuous technical condition monitoring system are substantiated, including continuous temperature monitoring and on-line registration of partial discharges in the insulation. The first function provides monitoring of the operational load, and the second has the maximum sensitivity for diagnosing defect propagation. A functional diagram of the developed intelligent on-line system for monitoring technical condition with digital signal transmission is provided. The choice of sensors and processor unit is justified. The authors consider the temperature control system of high-voltage equipment 'WDM-T', including a wireless sensor and an information receiver. The results of monitoring the thermal regime are provided, the advantages of partial discharge analysis are pointed out. The temperature trends of the end couplings included in the cable line phases are considered. The system is implemented on the closed switchgear 110 kV end couplings, its long-term operation has confirmed the effectiveness of technical condition monitoring. The developed system may be a component of an on-line cyberphysical system for monitoring the condition of high-voltage equipment in the electric steelmaking workshop. © 2024 IEEE.
