Graph-guided masked autoencoder for process anomaly detection

Developing an accurate and reliable anomaly detection model is of great significance for safe operation in the process industry. To minimize false positives, it is crucial to accurately model the intricate topological and nonlinear connections among variables. In this study, a process anomaly detection method based on graph-guided masked autoencoder (GGMAE) is proposed by introducing the concept of the graph to the process industry. GGMAE first constructs a topology graph according to the process flowchart. Then, the patch and mask mechanism forces GGMAE to learn the process intrinsic information to reconstruct the input according to the variable topological relationship and temporal characteristics. Additionally, Kullback-Leibler divergence is used as the loss to ensure that the distribution of input and output is consistent. Experiments on two publicly available anomaly detection benchmarks demonstrate the superiority of GGMAE over existing methods. Visualization of the results demonstrates the physically compliant reconstruction logic. © 2024 The Institution of Chemical Engineers

The article discusses the theoretical foundations of the design of a single-channel ultrahigh frequency moisture meter with direct measurement of the moisture content of bulk materials. In accordance with the requirements of the methodology for selecting efficiency criteria, it is necessary to develop structural diagrams of measuring devices. For these purposes, the standard deviation of the random error is determined, characterizing the accuracy. It includes the main components: sensitivity error, zero error and additive component. Mathematical models of structures are constructed and the standard deviation of random errors, which are caused by certain parameters and additive fluctuations, is calculated. A single-parameter ultrahigh-frequency method for determining the moisture content is proposed. This method provides high accuracy of a single-channel ultrahigh frequency moisture meter with direct measurement of the moisture content of bulk materials. The measuring device can be used in the agricultural industry, where humidity is one of the important parameters, starting with harvesting and ending with the release of finished products. © 2024 IEEE.

The nonlinear time-varying characteristics of the process industry can be modeled using numerous data-driven soft sensor methods. However, the intrinsic relationships among the variables, especially the localized spatial–temporal correlations that shed light on model behavior, have received little attention. In this study, a soft sensor based on a graph convolutional network is constructed by introducing the concept of graph to process modeling. The focus is on obtaining localized spatial–temporal correlations that aid in comprehending the intricate interactions among the variables included in the soft sensor. The model is trained by considering the regularization terms and it learns distinctive localized spatial–temporal correlations in an end-to-end manner. Furthermore, long-term dependence is established via temporal convolution. Thus, both the localized spatial–temporal correlations and time-series properties are captured. The feasibility of the proposed soft sensor is illustrated using two fermentation processes. The localized spatial–temporal correlations of this case study are visualized, and they demonstrate that the soft sensor is not a black-box model;instead, it is consistent with process knowledge. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd

As the acquisition of variables that measure quality is typically challenging, labeled samples for building a model for soft sensors are often inadequate. Additionally, owing to the installation of redundant sensors, high-dimensional process data with strong correlations are acquired. Therefore, in this study, a sample selection strategy for active learning (AL), referred to as latent-enhanced variational adversarial AL (LVAAL), is developed to enhance quality prediction performance with limited labeled data. The LVAAL method uses a minimax game to explore the latent representation of the original data. Specifically, a latent-enhanced variational autoencoder (LEVAE) is used to deceive the adversarial network into predicting all samples, both labeled and unlabeled, as labeled. However, the adversarial network attempts to indicate the difference between latent representations. Subsequently, Gaussian process regression (GPR) is adopted as a base model for LVAAL. With the proposed LVAAL selection strategy, informative unlabeled samples are incrementally selected, thereby enhancing the prediction performance. The application results for a numerical case and an industrial example demonstrate the advantages of LVAAL compared with existing AL strategies. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

The article provides a theoretical analysis of the ultrahigh frequency (microwave) method of humidity measurement, discusses the problems of instrumentation of the method in question, and proposes a scheme of an experimental installation. Bulk cotton materials were selected as the objects of research. The electromagnetic wave radiation is analyzed during measurement and the evaluation of electrophysical characteristics requires the study of the functional dependence of the amplitude and phase shift on the mass ratio of humidity, mathematical models for various bulk cotton materials describing the joint effect of humidity, material density on the attenuation and phase shift of the passing wave are obtained. © 2023 IEEE.

The paper deals with the problems of grain wounding requires large energy costs, requiring a multi-stage process of grain processing, installation and perfect and reliable automation systems for the storage and processing of raw materials, theoretical and experimental studies and the results of the use of the microwave method in measuring the moisture content of grain and grain materials. The method under consideration is based on the principle of selective absorption of microwave radiation energy by water in materials and its derivatives. By the degree of absorption of radiation, the concentration of moisture is judged. The paper investigates the amplitude and phase methods of the passing wave in free space. The influence of the elastic properties of the material under study on the electrical characteristics of the microwave wave, suggesting fundamentally new ways of measuring the attenuation and phase shift of the electromagnetic wave, including discrete conversion of the signal of the primary converter, which does not require rigid metrological support and the use of a phase shift, is substantiated. Information on the values of the thickness of the material is analyzed in order to correct the influence of this value, consisting of two parameters: the signal of the passing wave, the attenuation and phase shift which characterizes the humidity and the additional signal - the phase wave reflected from the front surface of the materials and carrying information about its thickness. © 2023 IEEE.

One of the most important goals of theoretical ecologists is to find a strategy for controlling the chaos in ecological models to maintain healthy ecosystems. We investigate the influence of fear and the supply of additional food to predators in a delayed tri-trophic food chain model, where interference among the species is determined by Holling type-II functional response. The proposed model incorporates the fact that the growth rates of prey and middle predators are decreased due to the fear of middle and special predators, respectively. The additional food is supplied to both predators by either nature or external agencies. Furthermore, the poisoned prey in the predator's environment is taken into account. In the proposed model, we use two time delays: one for the growth term of the middle predator and another for the gestation delay of the special predator. We determine the conditions for the existence of ecologically feasible equilibrium points and their local and global stability. In addition, we establish the conditions for the existence of Hopf bifurcation around interior equilibrium to seek periodic behavior in nondelayed and delayed models. Numerical investigations are performed to justify the proposed theoretical findings through phase portraits, time series of solutions, and bifurcation diagrams. We observe that the chaotic dynamics of a tri-trophic food chain model can be controlled by the proper choice of the fear effect and by supplying additional food parameters. As a result, our findings provide more ecological insights into the dynamics of the delayed tri-trophic food chain model with the fear effect and additional food supply. © 2023 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Information and communication technologies have become an integral part of modern society in Uzbekistan, as they are used in all spheres of human life: economic, political and social. Uzbekistan is one of the countries where digital technologies are rapidly developing, because of which significant results have been achieved in education. This will allow you to receive high-quality content (video, audio, and platform);use the most up-to-date technologies and solutions: online services for the educational process, gamification, a virtual library, online proctoring and practical online classes. Interactive learning is a learning process using information and communication technologies. Although distance learning is not a substitute for university attendance, it is an excellent learning tool for consolidating knowledge and obtaining additional facts and information. Sometimes homework is not enough for proper understanding and assimilation of educational material. Proper understanding of information is useful for practical subjects. The Internet provides a wide range of such additional features. Interactive stands enhance both general and professional knowledge;have a motivating effect on learning in a playful way. The National Research University in Uzbekistan, together with the teachers of the Tashkent State Pedagogical University, is actively working on the introduction of virtual interactive educational stands into the educational process, including distance education. The article deals with the choice of criteria for efficiency, applicability in measuring technology, analytical and construction, on the basis of which a methodology for assessing the quality of structures of measuring devices of moisture of materials of the agro-industrial complex is proposed. The standard deviation of the random error characterizing the accuracy of measurements is shown. A complex efficiency criterion is discussed, including the dominant particular parameters: accuracy, reliability, cost, allowing to solve the problem of optimal design of humidity control devices for the materials under consideration. As an optimal option, a differential measuring device is analyzed, which practically eliminates random and systematic errors and makes it possible to design a multiparameter measurement method that considers the features of a heterogeneous environment, such as bulk grain materials of the agro-industrial complex © 2022 IEEE.
