Studies have shown that applying a vibration of certain frequencies and intensities on the tooth can accelerate tooth movement, thus shorten orthodontic treatment *** optimal frequency may be related to the natural frequency of the tooth-periodontal ligament(PDL)-bone complex(TPBC),therefore we designed a vibrating device which can measure the natural frequency of the TPBC, and produce vibration load with customized frequencies and intensities. This device consists of four parts, vibration source, vibration frequency modulator,vibration amplitude modulator, natural frequency measurement module. To optimize the vibrator's design, specifically structure and natural frequency, static analysis and modal analysis were both made. The application method of the vibrator is also introduced. The designed vibrator can customize vibration load and obtain the natural frequency of TPBC, and it will be used for experiments to obtain the relation between the optimal frequency and the natural frequency of TPBC.

This article proposes a systematic disturbance observer(DOB) control scheme for open-loop non-minimum phase (NMP) plants with time delay.A novel optimal analytical result of the input disturbance rejection criterion is derived and optimal analytical solutions of both the set-point tracking controller and the DOB are provided in terms of H2 norm performance *** the set-point tracking performance specification and input load disturbance specification can be quantitatively achieved by conveniently tuning the adjustable *** typical first order NMP process with time delay is analyzed based on the proposed control structure,and a simulation example is *** simulation results verify that the proposed scheme can eliminate the influence of input load disturbance and the ISE specification can be quantitatively tuned.

The circulating fluidized bed boiler is widely used in thermal power plants. With the proposal of energy-saving emission reduction, how to reduce coal consumption while ensure the output steam quality at the same time has become an important topic. This paper combines the technology of RTO (real-time optimization) and zone control in DMC (dynamic matrix control) to achieve this goal. The proposed method adds the coal consumption into the objective function of DMC controller and the operation point of the boiler is permitted to change within a zone which can be set according to the actual requirements of the circulating fluidized bed boiler. The zone control in DMC provides the freedom to reduce the coal consumption and achieves the economic optimal target. Compared to the simple use of constrained DMC control, the proposed method is verified to be remarkable coal-saving by the case study of a 150 t/h boiler of a power plant in Sichuan. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2013.

Finally, the three-dimensional model for rendering and interaction is also introduced.

For automatic train operation (ATO) system, the main object of ATO controller is to control the moving of the train as close as possible to the target curve, so that the demands for time, safety, travelling comfort and energy saving can be met. In this paper, a model predictive control (MPC) strategy is introduced to control the train system due to its good performance and ability to handle system with time-delay and constraints. Model parameters can be identified by measured data. The proposed MPC algorithm with corresponding switching strategy is designed. The simulation results illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

The distributed networked control systems are considered in this paper. Several sub-systems which are connected with each other through a communication network make up the whole system. Each sub-system has its own quantizer so that any information which needs be transmitted to other sub-systems will be quantized due to limited bandwidth. Meanwhile, the actuator faults, including outage, loss of effectiveness and stuck are also considered in our research. A mode-based state feedback controller is given in this paper to stable such NCSs and to meet the robust H-inf performance. A simulation example is proposed to illustrate the effectiveness of our method finally.

This paper proposes a novel MPPT method, which will provide a correct tracking direction under the condition of non-abrupt atmospheric changes, especially non-irradiation conditions. We also present a model predictive control method based on a cost function, which help to derive the predictions for each possible switching state. The control scheme obtained is capable of controlling the dc-link current to a desired MPPT reference current, while injecting sinusoidal current to the grid with reduced total harmonic distortion. Finally, the simulation results illustrate the effectiveness of our proposed method. Copyright © 2013 IFAC.

Repetitive model predictive control is an effective method to track a periodic signal as well as reject a periodic disturbance. However, since repetitive controller uses discrete-time model, there always exists ripple when controlling a continuous system with periodic disturbance. This paper proposes a new way for repetitive model predictive control by using multi-rate model. Due to the multi-rate model, the model predictive controller can optimize the system outputs during the period between two sampling times, and then provide a more delicate control action, which can result in the reduced ripple. The simulation demonstrates its effectiveness. Copyright © 2013 IFAC.

In this paper an algorithm has been presented to remove the shadow from images, which includes two steps. First step is to detect shadow regions using physical features of shadow for an initial result with less shadow. Two properties of shadow, luminance and gray density are taken into account, to get the primary result. The second step is based on morphological methods. Using the similarity of gray density and the gradient value, a refined result can be obtained with the help of real edge of the object and the direction to expand. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

In the consideration of constraints, repetitive model predictive control is an effective method to track a periodic signal as well as reject a periodic disturbance. However, in practical systems, it is difficult to determine the period of the disturbance;meanwhile, too much information is needed for the design of repetitive controller, thus will make it difficult for the design of controller. In this paper, a system subject to periodic disturbance with Markov jump uncertainty is considered and a new method of repetitive model predictive control with Markov jump model has been introduced to reject the disturbance. The simulation demonstrates that the proposed method is effective.
